Recovery, which is a non-linear, unique process allowing mental health service consumers to live autonomously, has become a prominent concept. However, adapting recovery-oriented practice to daily care is challenging. We explored recovery-oriented practice among mental health professionals in Japan via semi-structured interviews including nurses, occupational therapists, and psychiatric social workers (17 professionals in total). Data were analysed using grounded theory. Six categories emerged. The core category was ‘Continuing to adjust care to meet consumers’ needs for their unique lives'. The professionals stated that they practised in accordance with the service consumers' sincere hopes based on an equitable relationship because they believed that this approach would enhance consumers' personal agency, proactive behaviour, and self-choice. Despite negative consequences, the professionals did not view the consumers' choices as ‘failures' and instead helped them to find meaning in their experiences. Although the therapeutic relationship tended to be paternalistic, participants described how concrete practices helped build an equitable relationship. In recovery-oriented practice, the provision of support centred on consumer values is important, without imposing own's own values. Care practices should also be aligned with consumers' hopes, needs and goals. 相似文献

AimThe study aim was to explore educators’ perceptions of their experiences of participating in transnational education in nursing.BackgroundIn an increasingly globalised world, involvement with the delivery of transnational education has become commonplace across the international higher education sector. In recent years, transnational education within the academic discipline of nursing has developed at pace, evolving in response to a global need to invest in nurse education, address nursing shortages and strengthen nursing leadership. However, despite acknowledgement that transnational education is a complex activity that needs to be more fully understood, research specifically exploring transnational education in nursing is scarce, as previous studies predominantly focus on other academic disciplines. The study addresses this knowledge gap, advancing understanding of transnational education in the context of nursing.DesignThe study was positioned within the interpretivist paradigm and underpinned by a constructivist grounded theory methodological design, acknowledging the prior knowledge and experience of the research team in relation to phenomenon under investigation.MethodsEthical approval was obtained before the study commenced, ensuring adherence to key ethical principles. The study was conducted during May to August 2020, in a university in the North of England that provides undergraduate and postgraduate nurse education in the United Kingdom and transnational context. Participants were recruited via e mail and invited to complete a brief questionnaire, informing a preliminary theoretical sampling strategy. Ten educators with experience of transnational education across a diverse range of international locations participated in individual, semi-structured, online interviews that were recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data were analysed using initial and focused coding, constant comparison, theoretical memos and diagrams.FindingsThe findings uncovered three overarching data categories, each of which were crucial to supporting effective transnational education in nursing. Prepare- involved developing an understanding of the context of healthcare and education, being supported and collaborating with transnational partners. Perform- involved recognising language and cultural influences, adapting to the environment and implementing responsive educational pedagogies. Progress- involved recognition of personal development at individual level and valuing the benefits at organisational level.ConclusionsAlthough transnational education in nursing can be challenging and complex, it can offer worthwhile advantages for all stakeholders. However, effective transnational education in nursing is dependent on strategies which prepare educators appropriately and enable them to perform effectively, thereby promoting successful outcomes at individual, organisational and transnational partner level and facilitating advancement in future potential collaborative activity. 相似文献

Breastfeeding plays an important role in the growth and development of preterm infants, and exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) in the first 6 weeks post-partum is the key to continuous breastfeeding. This study was designed to explore the influencing factors that contribute to breastfeeding attrition among mothers of preterm infants at Week 6 post-partum based on the theory of planned behaviour (TPB). We herein adopted a prospective observational study design in which 97 mothers who exclusively breastfed at Week 6 post-partum at a tertiary specialised hospital in Shanghai from June 2021 to February 2022 were taken as the EBF group, and 179 mothers without EBF were assigned to the EBF attrition group. Through an extensive literature review and expert consultation, we determined the possible factors influencing EBF attrition, analysed those factors that showed statistical significance in our univariate analysis by applying binary logistic regression, and constructed a nomogram model for predicting EBF attrition. The results revealed that negative breastfeeding sentiment (odds ratio [OR] = 1.006; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.000–1.011) generated a greater risk of breastfeeding attrition. However, positive breastfeeding sentiment (OR = 0.991; 95% CI, 0.983–0.999), social and professional support (OR = 0.993; 95% CI, 0.987–0.999), breastfeeding control (OR = 0.945; 95% CI, 0.896–0.996), knowledge (OR = 0.893; 95% CI, 0.799–0.998), and intention to EBF at Week 6 post-partum (OR = 0.522; 95% CI, 0.276–0.988) were the protective factors and facilitated the development of our nomogram model. The Hosmer–Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test generated a χ2 value of 11.344 (p = 0.183) and an area under the curve of 0.822 (95% CI, 0.771–0.873). The C-index was 0.800 in the internal bootstrap validation, indicating that the nomogram model possessed favourable predictive accuracy and discrimination. 相似文献

In order to explore the criminal psychological mechanism of burglars, this study adopts the qualitative research method of grounded theory to conduct in-depth interviews with 41 burglars in two prisons in Jiangxi Province, China. Nvivo 11.0 was used to code-construct and qualitatively analyze the interview content in order to refine the influencing factors and psychological evolution process of burglary behavior. The findings revealed that (1) burglary risk factors include burglary cognition, burglary motivation, burglary decision-making, delinquent peers, burglary opportunity, and incomplete reformation. (2) There are three stages in the psychological evolution process of burglars: cognitive formation, motivational dominance, and behavioral decision. (3) The interpretation of the criminal psychological mechanism of burglars is a comprehensive and dynamic outcome of the interaction of internal and external factors that shape the individual. Evidence supports the effectiveness of cuing people to analyse negative autobiographical experiences from self-distanced rather than self-immersed perspectives. However, the evidence on which this expectation resides is limited largely to static snapshots of mean levels of cognitive and emotional factors. Via a pre-registered, randomised controlled trial (N = 257), we examined the differential effectiveness of self-distanced relative to self-immersed reflections on mean levels and within-person variability of sleep duration and quality as well as psychological well-being over a 5-day working week. Except for sleep quality, we found that reflecting from a psychologically distanced perspective, overall, was no more effective for mean levels and within-person variability of sleep duration, well-being, and stress-related factors than when the current self is fully immersed in the experiential reality of the event. We consider several substantive and methodological considerations (e.g., dosage, salience of stressor event) that require interrogation in future research via experimental and longitudinal observational methods. 相似文献

The Occupational Depression Inventory (ODI) was recently developed to assess depressive symptoms that individuals specifically attribute to their work. One purpose of the ODI is to respond to limitations of current assessments of job-related distress, most notably, assessments relying on the burnout construct. In this study, we conducted a thorough examination of the psychometric and structural properties of the ODI using exploratory structural equation modelling bifactor analysis and Mokken scale analysis. The study involved three samples of employed individuals, recruited in France (N = 3454), Switzerland (N = 1971), and Australia (N = 1485). Results were consistent across the three samples. The ODI exhibited essential unidimensionality and excellent total-score reliability―as indexed by McDonald's omega, Cronbach's alpha, Guttman's lambda-2, and the Molenaar-Sijtsma statistic. We found evidence for measurement invariance across sexes, age groups, and samples. Mokken scale analysis revealed that the ODI's scalability was strong. No monotonicity violation was detected. Invariant item ordering showed sufficient accuracy. In all three samples, suicidal ideation was the least commonly endorsed item―thus acting as a sentinel item―and fatigue/loss of energy was the most commonly endorsed item. The ODI exhibits excellent psychometric and structural properties, suggesting that occupational health specialists can effectively employ the instrument. 相似文献
