Summary An assay system for the measurement of the rate of Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate (COM) seed crystal growth in a metastable solution of calcium chloride and sodium oxalate containing traces of 14C-oxalic acid was used to assess the inhibitory activity of pyrophosphate (10–5 M-10–4 M), citrate (10–4 M-10–3 M) and urines of normal and pyridoxine deficient rats. Both pyrophosphate and citrate were strong inhibitors of COM crystal growth and caused a 50% decrease in crystal growth rate at 1.50×10–5 M and 2.85×10–4 M respectively. Normal rat urine strongly inhibited the COM crystal growth, while pyridoxine deficient animals showed a significant (p< 0.01) decrease in mean inhibitory activity as compared to pair-fed controls. A lowered urinary inhibitory potential accompanied with hyperoxaluria and hypercalciuria, which is known to be associated with pyridoxine deficiency, may be a contributory risk of calcium oxalate crystallization and stone formation.  相似文献

Urinary incontinence is a serious management problem among elderly patients. The care and management of chronic care patients is more difficult in those having urinary incontinence. The level of care required is dependent on both the continence and incontinence behavior of the patient. The continence behavior in this study is presented as the time interval between episodes of involuntary urine loss. The continence interval in elderly inpatient men having severe incontinence was found to be significantly longer in patients having a larger measured cystometric bladder capacity as well as in patients having greater independence in activities of daily living. Significant variability in the continence interval was measured for each patient over a wide range of continence intervals and resulted in an irregular pattern of time between episodes of incontinence. The irregular continence intervals suggest an instability of the central nervous system sensory-motor regulatory mechanism of bladder control in the elderly.  相似文献

目的:通过检测肺癌患者尿液中假尿嘧啶核苷和肌苷量比值,探讨其在肺癌诊断中的应用价值。方法:肺癌患者、肺良性疾病及对照组各50例,分别收集其晨起空腹尿液,离心过滤后利用高效液相色谱法同时检测假嘧啶苷及肌苷,计算假尿嘧嘧与肌苷量比值。结果:肺癌患者中尿液中n(假尿嘧啶核苷/n(肌苷)比值有明显升高,与正常人比较差异有统计学意义,但肺良性疾病组与正常组和肺癌组比较,差异无统计学意义。结论:假尿嘧啶核苷对肺癌诊断并非特异性肿瘤标志物,但可以作为肺癌早期诊断的一种辅助指标。  相似文献

Swabbing the urethrae of men has been the traditional approach for collecting specimens for detection of Chlamydia trachomatis . Recently, however, urine testing using enzyme immunoassay has yielded promising results. A total of 105 patients attending the Andrology Clinic at Ga Rankuwa Hospital, Medunsa were included in the study. These patients were asymptomatic and had no urethral discharge. Three endo-urethral swabs and first-catch urine were collected fiom each patient. The urethral swabs were used for enzyme immunoassay (EIA) (IDEIA 111), tissue culture and direct immonufluorescent antibody (DFA) test (IMAGEN) to detect C. trachomatis . In addition about 15–30 ml of first-catch urine, or urine collected at least 2h after the previous micturition, was collected for each patient for EIA testing. Fifteen (14.3%) of 105 patients were positive on urethral swab EIA, in comparison with the DFA test in which 14 (13.3%) were positive. Eight (7.8%) were positive in tissue culture. Urine EIA was positive in 17 (16.2%) patients, of whom five (4.8%) were positive in urine EIA only. All EIA positive urines were confirmed by DFA. We recommend that first-catch urine or urine collected at least 2h after the previous micturition in infertile males may be considered a suitable alternative to urethral swab for chlamydial diagnosis because it is noninvasive and nontraumatic.  相似文献

AIMS: The rate of autologous urine production should not have a major disturbing influence on cystometric urodynamic parameters such as first filling sensation, normal desire to void, strong desire to void, and cystometric bladder capacity. Instructions to patients and drinking behavior can have considerable impact, especially if filling cystometry is preceded by free uroflowmetry. We studied the influence of autologous urine production during filling cystometry on total bladder volume. METHODS: Urodynamic investigations performed between September of 2000 and February of 2001 were analyzed. Only those urodynamic investigations for which total bladder capacity could be calculated were taken into account (i.e., catheterization before and after cystometry and no urine loss during the investigations). RESULTS: After screening, 186 investigations were used for further analysis. Mean filled volume (external infusion plus autologous urine production) was 346 +/- 152 mL, but mean real bladder capacity (i.e., voided volume + residual urine) was 391 +/- 170 mL. In all patients, 14% extra urine was produced due to autologous urine production (mean filling rate, 6.1 mL/min). In 42% of the investigations, the real bladder capacity was more than 110% of the infused volume. In 18% of the patients, the contribution of natural bladder filling was more than 25% of the infused volume. CONCLUSIONS: Natural bladder filling plays a substantial role during filling cystometry and has a disturbing influence on calculated urodynamic parameters. Attention should be paid to patient instructions before the urodynamic investigation. The combination of free uroflowmetry followed by filling cystometry should be avoided. This avoidance is especially important if interventional studies are performed. Careful interpretation of studies depending on bladder capacity parameters is mandatory, and such parameters should be corrected for autologous bladder filling.  相似文献

本文测定100名健康人尿羟脯氨酸参考值范围、其中藏族12名,经统计学处理男女性别之间、民族之间无显著性差异。测定15名甲状腺机能亢进、6例甲状腺机能减退、50例糖尿病患者尿羟脯氨酸值。结果甲亢在这四组(正常成人甲减、糖尿病)中含量最高,与其它三组比较有显著性差异(P<0.01)。甲减最低与其它三组比较有显著性差异(P<0.02)。糖尿病人略高于正常人。与文献报导基本相符。  相似文献

目的 探讨血尿酸水平对急性心肌梗死(AMI)预后的影响.方法 对198例急性心肌梗死患者的血尿酸水平及其肌酸激酶同工酶(CK-MB)峰值,梗死后心绞痛、心律失常、心源性休克、心力衰竭的发生率和病死率的相关关系进行分析比较.结果 198例中正常血尿酸133例,高血尿酸65例.高血尿酸组CK-MB峰值较高,梗死后心绞痛、心律失常、心力衰竭的发生率和病死率均高于正常血尿酸组(P<0.01或P<0.05).结论 高血尿酸与AMI预后不良有关.  相似文献

Occupational exposure to lead and blood pressure: a study in 105 workers   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A group of workers, occupationally exposed to lead and cadmium compounds (n = 53), was compared to a group of workers not exposed to these metals (n = 52). The average values of systolic, diastolic, and mean blood pressure were found to be higher in the exposed group (p less than 0.05). In contrast with the correlation between CdU and blood pressure, the correlation between PbB and systolic and mean blood pressure remained statistically significant after controlling for age and pulse rate (r = 0.22, p less than 0.05). The prevalence of potential hypertension (defined as systolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 160 mm Hg and/or diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 95 mm Hg and/or under treatment for hypertension) was higher in the exposed group, but the observed relative risk was not statistically significant: relative risk = 1.91 (95% confidence limits, 0.90-4.05). Furthermore, a significant correlation between PbB and Hgb (r = -0.28, p = 0.004) was observed. Differences in kidney function, as assessed in this study, were not detected.  相似文献

ACUTE EFFECT OF ETHANOL ON RENAL ELECTROLYTE TRANSPORT IN THE RAT   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
1. Despite human and animal studies, the direct effect of ethanol on renal water and electrolyte transport is poorly understood. The acute effect of increasing plasma concentrations of ethanol was evaluated in a water diuretic anaesthetized rat model which inhibits endogenous arginine vaso-pressin (AVP) release. 2. Ethanol at a plasma concentration of 1.69 ±0.28 mmol/L produced an immediate increase in urine flow (174 ± 11 μL/min pre-ethanol and 189 ± 13 and then 206 ± 12 μL/min during the ethanol infusion; P<0.001) as well as an increase in fractional sodium excretion (0.17 ± 0.04 to 0.28 ± 0.05 and 0.27 ± 0.05%; P<0.001). There was also a brief phosphaturia. These increases in electrolyte excretion had returned to control values by 20 min despite a further increase in the plasma ethanol concentration. 3. The urinary excretion of potassium, calcium and magnesium was not altered nor was glomerular filtration rate or renal plasma flow. 4. Ethanol at a mean concentration of 1.60 mmol/L did not alter the action of a maximal concentration of AVP (75 ng/kg) on water or electrolyte transport. However, the antidiuretic effect of a submaximal concentration of AVP (7.5 ng/kg) was augmented by ethanol at concentrations of 1.63 and 0.98 mmol/L. 5. These studies suggest that the ethanol induced diuresis commonly ascribed to inhibition of AVP secretion may also be due to other intrarenal effects of ethanol, possibly acting within the proximal tubule. These results also confirm recent in vitro findings that while ethanol does not inhibit the action of a maximal concentration of AVP, it does modulate the effects of lower AVP concentrations.  相似文献

测定了44例颈椎病患者康复前后尿液中谷胱甘肤过氧化物酶(GSH-Px)活力的变化。患者在治疗前,尿中GSH-Px活力为1080±310U/L((?)±s),与健康对照组相比差异有高度显著性(P<0.001)。推拿和颈牵治疗后尿中GSH—Px活力平均下降38.8%,且下降幅度和疗效之间有着明显的平行关系。据此,我们认为颈椎病的发病可能和体内自由基代谢紊乱有关,同时认为,无创伤的尿GSH—Px活力测定可以作为颈椎病康复疗效评定的客观指标,从而为颈椎病康复疗效的评定提供科学的生化依据。  相似文献
