Background

This paper presents results from a public engagement effort in Nebraska, USA, which measured public opinions about governmental involvement in encouraging the use of electronic health records (EHRs).

Objective

We examine the role of trust in government in contributing to public support for government involvement in the development of EHR technologies. We hypothesize that trust in government will lead to support for federal and state governmental encouragement of the use of EHRs among doctors and insurance companies. Further, because individual experiences with health‐care professionals will reduce perceptions of risk, we expect that support for governmental involvement will be tempered by greater personal experience with the health‐care industry.

Design and Results

Examining a small survey of individuals on the issue, we find general support for both of our hypotheses. The findings suggest that trust in government does have a positive relationship with support for government involvement in the policy domain, but that the frequency of personal experiences with health‐care providers reduces the extent to which the public supports governmental involvement in the development of EHR technology.

Discussion and Conclusion

This inquiry contributes to our understanding of public attitudes towards government involvement in EHRs in the United States specifically and contributes to social science examining links between trust in government and support for governmental activity in the emerging policy domain regarding electronic health records systems.  相似文献

目的分析上海市15岁及以上居民健身活动现况和存在的问题,为制定相应干预措施提供基础资料。方法使用2010年上海市慢性病及其危险因素监测调查数据,对上海15岁及以上居民15 659人的健身活动情况进行分析。结果上海15岁及以上居民健身活动的参与率为26.8%,中心城区居民健身活动的参与率(29.9%)明显高于非中心城区居民(24.4%)(χ^2=59.188,P=0.013),无论中心城区还是非中心城区男性健身活动参与率均高于女性,差异有统计学意义(中心城区,男性33.0%、女性26.9%,χ^2=33.354,P〈0.01;非中心城区,男性26.3%、女性22.6%,χ^2=14.994,P=0.034),各年龄组的健身活动参与率差异有统计学意义(χ^2=651.397,P〈0.01),15~17岁组明显高于其他年龄组,≥75岁组为各年龄组中健身活动参与率最低的,其次是45~59岁组。居民经常参加健身活动的比例占19.7%,中心城区、非中心城区分别为23.0%和17.2%(χ^2=80.626,P〈0.01)。多因素分析提示,文化程度、在职与否、现在是否吸烟是影响经常参加健身活动的显著性因素。结论上海市居民健身活动的参与率较低,经常参加健身活动的比例更低,应针对不同人群制定健身活动指南,以提高上海市居民健身活动参与率,促进健康。  相似文献

Objective: Previous research has demonstrated the value of arts-based programs for adolescents with childhood brain disorder to facilitate social skills and participation. The current study extends this work by examining the feasibility and effectiveness of an arts-based intervention for youth with acquired brain injuries (ABI).

Methods: A case study approach was used with four adolescent participants and one case control. A battery of quantitative measures were administered four and one week pre-intervention, one week post-intervention, as well six to eight month post-intervention.

Results: Improvements in pragmatic communication skills and social and participation goals were observed across intervention participants. Similar improvements were not seen with the case control participant.

Conclusion: Results support the use of an arts-based intervention for youth with ABI to facilitate social skills and participation. Findings also highlight the need for more sensitive measures of these skills for these youth. Suggested guidelines for program implementation are provided.  相似文献

Objective

to evaluate the participation of adolescents in the Family Health Strategy, from the theoretical-methodological structure of an enabler to participation.

Method

a quantitative study, conducted from December of 2010 to March of 2011, with 213 professionals in the FHS in the region of Cariri-Ceará-Brazil. Data were collected through a questionnaire and organized in SPSS 18.0.

Results

the level of normative participation becomes manifest beginning with the adolescent search for health services, motivated by disease (77.9%). Normative participation + independence appear when they seek prenatal care and family planning. Emancipatory participation was identified by the frequency of adolescents in group activities, in the schools, and a move in the direction of the level of transformative participation was observed.

Conclusion

in this context, it is understood that there exists a need to stimulate the participatory process of the adolescents for a change in health promotion in this group.  相似文献

This article explores the effect of tracked education in upper secondary on voting behaviour. It discusses two causal mechanisms that link tracked education to greater disparities of political participation: the curriculum and peer socialization. Data of Waves 1, 2, 5 and 7 of the Longitudinal Study of Young People in England (LSYPE) is used to assess the hypothesis that educational track has an independent effect on voting. Controlling for several pre- and post-track influences, the paper shows that students who have taken vocational courses in less prestigious schools indeed have lower reported voting levels at age 20 than those who have pursued an academic qualification (A levels) in prestigious schools. It is proposed that the effect of tracked education on political participation is likely to vary across Europe and that this variation may well be explained by differences across Europe in the extent to which the academic and vocational tracks are integrated, both in terms of the curriculum and in their social intake.  相似文献
