IntroductionIn some cases, the tongue and oesophagus tissues are damaged by the corrosive burn. Surgical interventions may cause scar formation, and severe burns treatment methods are limited. This study aims to investigate bromelain, a phytotherapeutic product, on the corrosive burn as a non-surgical option and as an adjunctive therapy, insofar as the treatment of corrosive wounds is not limited only to the treatment of oxidative stress and inflammatory reactions.MethodsOn the tongues of Wistar albino rats, chemically produced oral ulcers were created by topical application of NaOH (40%) solution, and in the distal oesophagus same mixture was applied to produce a corrosive oesophageal burn. For a week, they were treated orally by bromelain (100 mg/kg/day) or saline solution. At the end of seven days, animals were decapitated to remove the tongue and oesophagus, and blood samples were collected to obtain serum. Myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) concentrations were measured in serum, and luminol and lucigenin chemiluminescence (CL) were measured in tissue samples.ResultsMDA and CL values were significantly increased, and GSH levels in tissue significantly decreased due to the corrosive burns. Saline treated corrosive burn group measured higher in the serum cytokines in according to the control group.ConclusionsBromelain administration decreased oxidant and inflammatory parameters and increased antioxidant levels in NaOH-induced corrosive burns. Thus, we concluded that bromelain may protect the tongue and oesophagus tissues with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. 相似文献

舌癌患者手术及放化疗后会出现构音障碍、吞咽困难、口腔黏膜炎、口干、营养不良等并发症,使患者生存质量下降,甚至导致肿瘤的复发转移,影响生存期,单一方法往往顾此失彼。依托于中国中医科学院西苑医院肿瘤康复基地,杨宇飞教授在国内外调研考察基础上,结合中国国情,构建了一种“门诊多学科肿瘤康复模式”,在舌癌康复方面,以患者为中心,以中医肿瘤内科为主导,多学科共同参与,结合康复科、口腔科、营养科、药剂科等各科优势,形成全程个体化规范序贯康复方案,对患者及早进行康复,在放疗前进行预防性干预尤其重要,使患者能够快速缓解手术和放疗的不良反应,患者获益明显。现取两个典型案例总结其舌癌多学科康复的经验,以期为舌癌的康复提供借鉴。 相似文献

BackgroundNowadays surgery remains the gold standard of treatment for tongue cancer. Via a more clear and precise terminology, the glossectomy classification by Ansarin et al. facilitates shared communication between surgeons, allowing comparison between published research and improving surgical practice and patient care. To establish the association of glossectomies, according to their classification by Ansarin et al. with overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DSF), and cause-specific survival (CSS) in tongue cancer, we conducted a systemic retrospective study on 300 consecutive patients affected by primary oral tongue cancer and treated with surgery at the European Institute of Oncology, IRCCS (IEO).MethodsThree hundred patients with tongue squamous cell carcinoma and treated at the Division of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery of the European Institute of Oncology, IRCCS were cataloged according to the glossectomy classification. OS, DFS, and CSS were compared by surgical treatments.ResultsOS-5yrs was 80% for the type I glossectomy group, 75% for type II, 65% for type III, and 35% for type IV-V. DFS-5yrs was 74%, 60%, 55%, and 27%, respectively for I, II, III, and IV-V glossectomy group; CSS-5yrs was 82%, 80%, 72%, and 48%, respectively for I, II, III, and IV-V glossectomy group (p < 0.01).ConclusionsThis study confirmed that the application of the glossectomy classification was statistically correlated with patients' oncological outcomes. 相似文献

Lingual lymph nodes are an inconstant group of in-transit nodes, which are located on the route of lymph drainage from the tongue mucosa to the regional nodes in neck levels I and II. There is growing academic data on the metastatic spread of oral cancer, particularly regarding the spreading of oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma to lingual nodes. These nodes are not currently included in diagnostic and treatment protocols for oral tongue cancer. Combined information on surgical anatomy, clinical observations, means of detection, and prognostic value is presented. Anatomically obtained incidence of lingual nodes ranges from 8.6% to 30.2%. Incidence of lingual lymph node metastasis ranges from 1.3% to 17.1%. It is clear that lymph nodes that bear intervening tissues from the floor of the mouth should be removed to improve loco-regional control. Extended resection volume, which is required for the surgical treatment of lingual node metastasis, cannot be implied to every tongue cancer patient. As these lesions significantly influence prognosis, special efforts of their detection must be made. Reasonably, every tongue cancer patient must be investigated for the existence of lingual lymph node metastasis. Lymphographic tracing methods, which are currently implied for sentinel lymph node biopsies, may improve the detection of lingual lymph nodes. 相似文献

The course of this artery is divided into 4 segments: the original segment, the segment within hyoglossus, the ascending and the horizontal segments of the deep lingual a. The root of the tongue is supplied by 2 to 3 root branches of the lingual a., the ascending palatine a. and the tonsillar a. The body of the tongue is nourished on average by 25 arterial branches from the deep lingual a. The ventral surface of the tongue, as well as the sublingual gland and the floor of the mouth, is supplied by the sublingual a. The termination of the lingual a. anastomoses with the submental branch of the facial a. to form the lingual frenal a. 目的 :探讨舌异位甲状腺诊治方法。方法 :将我院从 1992年 10月~ 2 0 0 0年 2月收治的 18例舌异位甲状腺患者的临床资料进行总结分析 ,其中异位甲状腺全切除术 5例 ,部分切除术 3例 ,次全切除加部分带蒂移植10例。结果 :1例异位甲状腺癌行全切除术后出现甲状腺功能低下 ,部分切除术后 2例复发 ,其余 15例情况良好。结论 :术前常规B超检查、同位素扫描、细胞学检查和冰冻切片对异位甲状腺的诊断有指导意义 ;治疗上 ,患者无症状 ,异位甲状腺无恶变 ,可不予治疗 ,如果出现临床症状 ,对于副甲状腺 ,可作全切除术 ,若为迷走甲状腺 ,则行次全切除加部分带蒂移植是很好的方法 相似文献

Oral tuberculosis is very rare and when present they are usually secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis. Tuberculous lesions
of the tongue have become so infrequent that they are virtually a forgotten disease entity and may pose a diagnostic problem.
The case reported in this paper emphasizes the importance of including tuberculosis in the differential diagnosis of any chronic
