Scotopic b-wave stimulus/response (S/R) functions are abnormal in several human retinal degenerative disorders. However, the mechanisms by which diseases affect the S/R parameters are not yet fully known. Three experiments were done to simulate functional pathologies known to occur in retinal degenerations: 1) attenuated sensitivity of retinal units, 2) loss of rhodopsin, 3) loss of sensitivity with little or no loss of rhodopsin. None of the experimental perturbations of normal function replicated the pattern of S/R abnormalities caused by retinal degenerations. Thus, in the retinal degenerative disorders intrinsic abnormalities of cellular processing must affect the organization of distal retinal function indexed by the b-wave.  相似文献

In this report we describe, herewith, a patient with primary pigmentary dystrophy of the retina (retinitis pigmentosa) associated with unilateral retinal arteriovenous communication and exudative retinal detachment. The patient had complete resolution of the retinal detachment following laser photocoagulation treatment. Such association has not been previously reported.  相似文献

The progressive outer retinal necrosis (PORN) syndrome is a recently described clinical variant of necrotizing herpetic retinopathy in patients with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It is caused by varicellazoster virus infection of the retina. Its course and clinical features distinguish it from the acute retinal necrosis syndrome and CMV retinopathy. Early disease is characterized by multifocal deep retinal opacification. Lesions rapidly coalesce and progress to total retinal necrosis over a short period of time. Despite aggressive therapy with intravenous antivirial drugs, prognosis is poor; disease progression and/or recurrence is common, and the majority of patients develop no light perception vision. Total retinal detachments are common. Prophylaxis against retinal detachment using laser retinopexy has not been useful in most cases. PORN syndrome is an uncommon, but devastating complication of AIDS.  相似文献

We have investigated the time course and magnitude of cellular degeneration in the ganglion cell layer and the presumptive amacrine and bipolar regions of the inner nuclear layer during the development of the retina in the rat. Pyknotic profiles are present in the ganglion cell layer during the first 2 postnatal weeks, reaching peak numbers during the first 4 postnatal days (corresponding to the time of greatest loss of ganglion cells and their axons: Potts et al., '82; Lam et al., '82; Perry et al., '83). Two observations suggest that the majority of pyknotic profiles present in the ganglion cell layer during the second postnatal week are not ganglion cells. First, following injection of kainic acid into one superior colliculus, degenerating ganglion cells in the contralateral retina are cleared within 24-48 hours. Therefore, since most ganglion cell and axon loss occurs within the first postnatal week, few of the pyknotic profiles present in the second week are likely to be ganglion cells. Second, the time course of cellular degeneration in the ganglion cell layer during the second postnatal week follows a very similar pattern to that seen in the presumptive amacrine sublayer of the inner nuclear layer. Such a correspondence suggests that two phases of cell death occur in the ganglion cell layer: during the first postnatal week the majority of dying cells are ganglion cells, and in the second, most cell death is due to a loss of displaced amacrine cells. In the inner nuclear layer pyknotic profiles are most numerous in the presumptive amacrine region on postnatal days 6 and 7, and in the presumptive bipolar region on day 10. Synaptogenesis in the inner plexiform layer occurs later but reflects the order of cell death. Thus, conventional (presumed amacrine) synapses were first observed on day 11 and synaptic ribbons (indicative of bipolar synapses) on day 13. These observations suggest that amacrine and bipolar cells initiate synapses only after their numbers have stabilized.  相似文献

目的 观察辛伐他汀(Sim)对白细胞在早期糖尿病大鼠视网膜毛细血管中黏附、堆积的影响,探索他汀类药物可能的非调脂性治疗作用.方法 Wistar大鼠40只,随机分为正常对照组、糖尿病组(DM)、糖尿病Sim组(DMsim)和糖尿病生理盐水组(DM saline).腹腔注射链脲佐菌素(STZ)建立糖尿病模型,成模后Sim组予以Sim15 mg/(kg·d);DMsim组等量灌胃,2周后处死动物,取右眼制备视网膜石蜡切片,行形态学观察及CD45-MAb免疫组织化学研究.结果 CD45在正常大鼠视网膜血管内皮细胞胞膜中有表达,DM组CD45的表达明显增加,与正常对照组、DMsim组比较差异有统计学意义(P<O.05).结论 早期糖尿病大鼠视网膜白细胞黏附性增加,Sim可显著地抑制白细胞在视网膜中的黏附和堆积,改善糖尿病大鼠视网膜微循环.  相似文献

Purpose  To determine the efficacy of intravitreal injection of sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) gas for reducing persistent subfoveal fluid after scleral buckling surgery for macula-off rhegmatogenous retinal detachments. Methods  We injected 0.3 ml of SF6 gas into the vitreous cavity of two eyes of two patients with persistent macular retinal detachment 3 and 5 months after successful scleral buckling. Optical coherence tomography was performed before and after surgery. Results  Subfoveal fluid was displaced peripheral to the fovea immediately after gas injection and the fluid was absorbed gradually in both eyes. Conclusions  Persistent subfoveal fluid after scleral buckling may be treated with intravitreal SF6 gas injection. The authors have no proprietary interest in any aspect of this report  相似文献

目的研究微囊化后的猪视网膜色素上皮细胞(retinal pigment epithelial,RPE)对帕金森病大鼠模型的移植疗效。方法原代培养RPE 并传代,高效液相色谱法测定培养液上清中多巴胺(dopamine, DA)和高香草酸(homovanillic acid, HVA)的含量,ELISA法检测脑源性神经营养因子(brain-derived neurotrophic factor, BDNF)和胶质细胞源性神经营养因子(glial-derived neurotrophic factor, GDNF)的含量。用高压静电成囊装置制备海藻酸钠-多聚赖氨酸-海藻酸钠微囊化细胞。6-羟基多巴胺(6-hydroxydopamine, 6-OHDA)毁损内侧前脑束 (medial fore-brain bundle,MFB)建立 SD 大鼠帕金森病模型。立体定向移植 RPE+ 微囊,检验旋转实验、免疫组化和脑内生化的变化。结果 RPE 培养上清液中DA、HVA、BDNF、GDNF 的含量稳定,微囊化后细胞长期存活,活性没有明显变化。6-OHDA毁损MFB建立大鼠帕金森病模型的成模率为83%。移植微囊化的RPE后有效率为33%。结论猪 RPE 体外培养生长旺盛,持续分泌 DA、BDNF 和 GNDF,微囊化不影响其分泌功能。RPE 移植对帕金森病大鼠有一定的治疗作用。  相似文献

We recorded pattern electroretinograms and visual evoked potentials in a group of selected patients with unilateral uncomplicated branch retinal vein occlusion. To document the effects of preexisting risk factors, patients were divided into three groups: diabetes mellitus, hypertension with hyperlipidemia and no systemic disease. The transient and steady-state pattern electroretinogram and visual evoked potential amplitudes were significantly reduced and visual evoked potential peak times were delayed relative to the fellow eyes and agematched normal subjects. There was a second amplitude reduction relative to the other patient groups in both the affected and fellow eyes of the diabetes mellitus group, which was indicative of an additive effect of diabetes mellitus.Abbreviations BRVO branch retinal vein occlusion  相似文献
