Magnetic susceptibility, as a physical property of materials, plays important roles in many physical, chemical, engineering, and medical applications. Its quantification becomes of significant interest when MRI becomes a commonly used technique in biomedical applications. A general method is presented here for quantifying arbitrary magnetic susceptibility distributions in a localized region on the basis of first principles of magnetic induction field distributions in space. A proof of the concept was demonstrated by computer simulations. The study establishes the methodological basis for quantitative magnetic susceptibility imaging with MR. 相似文献

目的探讨鼻内镜下鼻中隔成形术的优点.方法鼻内镜下行鼻中隔成形术50例,其中高位和后段偏曲6例.结果50例均一次完成手术,偏曲的鼻中隔均获得彻底矫正.手术时间30~72 min,平均48 min,偏进的鼻中隔获得彻底矫正,随访6~9个月,平均7.1月,治愈45例(90%),好转5例(10%).无鼻中隔血肿、脓肿、穿孔、鼻腔粘连、鼻梁塌陷等并发症发生.结论鼻内镜下鼻中隔成形术,手术时间短,术中出血少,疼痛轻,术后并发症少,可同期行鼻窦手术,完全可以取代传统的鼻中隔黏膜下切除术. 相似文献

In studies evaluating the efficacy of clinical interventions, it is of paramount importance that the functional outcome measures are responsive to clinically relevant change. Knowledge thereof is in fact essential for the choice of instrument in clinical trials and for clinical decision-making. This article endeavours to investigate the sensitivity, specificity and clinically significant improvement (responsiveness) of the Danish version of the Oswestry disability index (ODI) in two back pain populations. Two hundred and thirty three patients with low back pain (LBP) and/or leg pain completed a questionnaire booklet at baseline and 8 weeks follow-up. Half of the patients were seen in the primary (PrS) and half in the secondary sectors (SeS) of the Danish Health Care System. The booklet contained the Danish version of the ODI, along with the Roland Morris Questionnaire, the LBP Rating Scale, the SF36 (physical function and bodily pain scales) and a global pain rating. At follow-up, a 7-point transition question (TQ) of patient perceived change and a numeric rating scale relating to the importance of the change were included. Responsiveness was operationalised using three strategies: change scores, standardised response means (SRM) and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses. All methods revealed acceptable responsiveness of the ODI in the two patient populations which was comparable to the external instruments. SRM of the ODI change scores at 2 months follow-up was 1.0 for PrS patients and 0.3 for SeS (raw and percentage). A minimum clinically important change (MCID) from baseline score was established at 9 points (71%) for PrS patients and 8 points (27%) for SeS patients using ROC analyses. This was dependable on the baseline entry score with the MCID increasing with 5 points for every 10 points increase in the baseline score. We conclude that the Danish version of the ODI has comparable responsiveness to other commonly used functional status measures and is appropriate for use in low back pain patients receiving conservative care in both the primary and secondary sector. 相似文献

Seven men performed one-legged isometric knee-extension at 5% MVC for 1 h. Intramuscular pressure increased with contraction from its resting value of 14 (2–31) mmHg. Some intramuscular pressure recordings stayed at an almost constant level throught the 1 h contraction, but most recordings showed large fluctuations from resting values up to 90 mmHg. The overall mean intramuscular pressure was twice the resting value. In some cases, EMG recordings confirmed that the changes in intramuscular pressure were related to alternating recruitment of various parts of the knee-extensors. Blood flow in the femoral vein increased within 3 min of 5% MVC to a level of 1.58 (1.25-2.22) 1 min-1 and no significant changes occurred during the 1 h contraction. In two subjects blood flow was measured also in the recovery period, and this decreased almost immediately when the muscle relaxed. It is concluded that during low-level static contractions, the blood supply to the exercising muscle is maintained at a sufficiently high level, and that the alternating recruitment of muscle fibres may result in a heterogeneously distributed blood flow within the contracting muscle. Despite this the muscle was fatigued after the 1 h at 5 % MVC. The rating of perceived exertion (RPE) increased from 1.9 (1–3) at the beginning to 4.5(2–8) at the end of contraction, and MVC was decreased by 12% after the contraction. 相似文献

Summary Topographical analysis of cerebral electrical activity was performed in 44 patients with hepatic encephalopathy. These patients were classified in 5 groups according to clinical criteria. Eight healthy subjects were used as a control group. All were studied in an awake, eyes closed, condition and some [Control Group (CG), Group 0 (G0), Group 1 (G1) and Group 2 (G2)] also in an awake, eyes open, condition. The awake, eyes closed, maps showed marked differences in the power spectral density (PSD) of the different bands, when comparing normal subjects with patients with several degrees of hepatic encephalopathy. These differences were related to the degree of clinical involvement, mainly in the alpha and delta PSD bands. The combination of a decreased alpha PSD, increased delta PSD, and decreased mean dominant frequency (MDF) allowed a clear discrimination between the different clinical groups. The differences observed between awake, eyes closed, and awake, eyes open, conditions were especially helpful to discriminate between CG subjects and G0, G1 and G2 patients. 相似文献

Bovine serum albumin was complexed with the core antigens of either Escherichia coli J5 LPS, Salmonella minnesota R595 LPS or E. coli lipid A. These core-BSA complexes were used for solid-phase coating in ELISAs for anti-core antibodies. Antibodies, binding to various parts of the core region were easily quantified in a single experimental set-up, which was hitherto not possible. The ELISA has only 3 incubation steps and is not costly as only moderate amounts of the core antigens (i.e., 1 microgram per test) were needed for coating. The sensitivity proved to be excellent and the complexes were biologically fully active (compared to native, smooth LPS), which make them suitable for the screening (after fusion) of monoclonal anti-core antibodies. The root mean square successive difference (RMSSD) in heart period series is a time domain measure of heart period variability. The RMSSD is sensitive to high-frequency heart period fluctuations in the respiratory frequency range and has been used as an index of vagal cardiac control. By transfer function simulations, the RMSSD statistic is shown to represent a high-pass filter that effectively captures respiratory sinus arrhythmia but also passes lower frequency fluctuations that can include sympathetic influences. These simulations, together with analysis of actual heart period series, reveal that the RMSSD is biased by basal heart period. Although between-subjects levels of RMSSD covary highly with spectral estimates of high-frequency variability, within-subject RMSSD change scores account for only 50-60% of the variance in spectral estimates. The present findings raise caveats in the applications and interpretation of the RMSSD statistic. 相似文献

The mechanism of the cytotoxic-negative, absorption-positive (CYNAP) phenomenon was studied using the model of the Bw49/Bw50 split of the BW21 antigen. Anti-Bw49 antibody bound 60% as well to Bw 50 as to Bw49 cells; however, even at a cytotoxic titer of 64 against Bw49 cells, the antibody was not cytotoxic to Bw50 Cells. At equal numbers of antibody molecules bound, the anti-Bw49 antibody activated C4 and C3, and induced lysis for Bw49 but not for the Bw50 cells. These data are consistent with a model in which different spatial orientations for shared epitopes can account for CYNAP reactivity for at least some selected Bw4/Bw6-associated splits of B locus antigens. 相似文献

A new portable instrument equipped with a microprocessor was designed for the long-term ambulatory monitoring of indirect
arterial pressure in the human finger at desired intervals using a volume-oscillometric technique. All the necessary procedures
such as (1) programmed control of cuff pressure, (2) detection of the systolic end-point and the point of maximum amplitude
of arterial volume pulsations, (3) reading of the cuff pressures corresponding to these two points, (4) its processing and
(5) recording of the systolic and mean pressure together with heart rate on a digital memory integrated circuit were performed
automatically. After the monitoring, the data were reproduced and analysed by a conventional personal computer. Simultaneous
comparison of the data with direct measurement, operation and evaluation of this instrument, and ambulatory monitoring were
carried out. With this instrument noninvasive and accurate monitoring of arterial pressure could be made in unrestricted subjects
