Summary: As curriculum planners in general medicine residency training programmes we were concerned about house officers' anecdotal reports that hospital work requirements often overshadow individual learning goals. After each of five rotations, we asked residents to identify the educational 'usefulness' of certain rotation components which can be included in three categories; team members, work-related activities and educational events. Of 165 surveys distributed, 127 (77%) were returned. Data were analysed by residency year and by all years combined. The mean overall perception of learning was 3.9 out of a possible 5 points suggesting that residents do find some learning value. Results suggest that different residency years vary as to the significance of specific educational components. The importance of faculty/resident relationships to residents' perceptions of learning value was highlighted in particular.  相似文献

目的培养高素质实用型护理人才,塑造护生良好形象,使之更加适应现代护理工作需要。方法教师在护理学基础课程技术操作教学过程中,注意通过课前引导学生预习操作内容、精心设计教案、规范操作流程、善于灵活运用示教和多媒体、演练情景剧、开放实验室、强化训练、开展技能考核与比赛等方式培养学生动手操作能力。结果2001年以来,已先后有3届学生进入临床实习。通过问卷调查,学生、带教教师、病人满意度分别达到98.5%、98.2%、97.0%。  相似文献

This paper describes the efforts of the Department of Family and Community Health at Sultan Qaboos University in providing opportunities for the development of 'hands-on' problem-solving skills appropriate for Oman. The curriculum of the Department is discussed, highlighting the unusual emphasis of this discipline in both the preclinical and clinical curriculum of the College of Medicine. The importance of continuous assessment and supervision of students is discussed. Course-work in the preclinical curriculum of the Department is kept to a minimum. Field-work forms an important part of preclinical training, where application and problem-based learning are emphasized. During the clinical years the students are exposed to an integrated series of lectures and practicals covering core knowledge in clinical medicine. Practical clinical training, over a total period of 15 weeks, takes place at a variety of sites where common problems in primary health care in Oman are handled by students under supervision.  相似文献

Medical students on the radiology elective in our institution create electronic presentations to present to each other as part of the requirements for the rotation. Access was given to previous students presentations via the web-based system, Medical Imaging Resource Center (MIRC) project, created and supported by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). RadPix Power 2 MIRC (Weadock Software, LLC, Ann Arbor, MI) software converted the Microsoft PowerPoint (Redmond, WA) presentations to a MIRC-compatible format. The textual information on each slide is searchable across the entire MIRC database. Future students will be able to benefit from the work of their predecessors.  相似文献

National Taiwan University College of Medicine (NTUCM) introduced small groups of teaching and basic-clinical integrated courses for medical students in 1992. By using computer network and multimedia techniques, this study tried to overcome barriers to learning in small group teaching. The Department of Medical Informatics of NTUCM established campus networking and computer classrooms and provided Internet and intranet network services including mail, netnews, bulletin board systems (BBS), world wide web (WWW), gopher, ftp and local file servers. To implement an interactive learning environment, the authors first tried mail lists, newsgroups and BBS. Next an integrated learning system prototype on the WWW was developed to provide functions including online syllabus, discussion boards simulated to BBS, online talk, interactive case studies, virtual classroom with video on demand (VOD) and Internet medical resources. The results showed that after the medical students completed the required course of medical informatics and had good network access using a network to communicate with each other became a daily practice. In the future, the system will extend to the tutoring of clinical practice and continuing medical education. The authors expect a national medical education network and more international cooperation and exchange.  相似文献

For the benefit of the first-year gross anatomy students, we digitized and published on a Web site images that had been collected over a 30-year period. We provided a CD-ROM (compact disk, read-only media) containing the image set in higher quality format to students and faculty. We supplemented basic images with hot topics such as CT angiography, virtual colonography, computer-aided diagnosis, and 3D post-processing. Full motion video and moving JPEG (Joint Photo Expert Group) animations were integrated into the atlas. On the post course questionnaire medical students reported that the images on CD-ROM were helpful during the course and for review prior to examinations. Faculty and medical students used the CD-ROM for problem-based learning sections and facilitator training. The images were clear and easily projected during review sessions and were useful for the small group sessions, where they served as examples of normal anatomy.  相似文献

目的  探讨组织学实验课的教学方法 ,提高教学质量。方法  在组织学实验课上 ,分别采用幻灯讲解、放映电视录像等方法对学生进行辅导 ;要求学生分别做绘镜下实像图、模式图、填图作业 ,在此基础上 ,组织学生进行讨论 ,并列表调查学生对上述 3种作业和 2种辅导的反映。结果  赞成幻灯讲解辅导的人数 ( 71 % )显著地多于赞成放电视录像辅导的人数 ( 2 9% ) ,具有显著性差异 ( P<0 .0 0 1 )。 61 %的学生认为 ,在节约时间、检查发现学习的薄弱环节、增加复习面、调动学习积极性等方面 ,填图优于绘图。赞成做填图作业的人数 ( 94% )显著地多于赞成做绘图作业的人数 ( 4 % ) ,差异显著 ( P <0 .0 0 1 )。结论  在目前的条件下 ,作为组织学实验课上的集体辅导 ,电视录像并不能完全代替幻灯讲解 ;让学生做填图作业 ,在节约时间、调动学习积极性、发现学习的薄弱环节、加深学习印象、增加复习的广度等方面明显地优于做绘图作业 ,值得在教学中推广。  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: The new curriculum at King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry, which commenced in September 1996, requires all medical undergraduates to have a general practice placement throughout the 5 years of their medical education. DESIGN: This paper discusses recruitment, training and support of teaching practices for the new curriculum, reviews the distribution of single-handed general practices in the network and, via a selection of monitoring and evaluation procedures, discusses the implications of a policy which is inclusive of single-handed practices. The findings relate to the experience of the first semester of the first year of the new curriculum. It also examines the contributions that single-handed practices have made to the teaching network and the kind of support needed, if single-handed practices are to continue to contribute to the King's teaching network. SETTING: King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry. SUBJECTS: Medical undergraduates. RESULTS: The findings of this paper revealed that over a third of general practice provision is via single-handed practices in South-east London. Within the undergraduate teaching network, 10% of practices are single-handed. Students are welcomed and receive a learning experience comparable to those students in larger practices. Attendance at training events has proved difficult for some of these tutors, but the extra input from the department, in order to address this deficit, has not been onerous. Indeed, single-handed practices have not been unique with regard to difficulties in attendance at training events. CONCLUSIONS: The study concludes that single-handed practices can make satisfactory provision for undergraduates in the new curriculum and there is no evidence from this study to suggest otherwise.  相似文献
