As the use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and glass-fiber-reinforced plastic is frequent in the field of construction, a method for measuring FRP resin content is needed. Herein, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) was employed to optimize the heat treatment conditions (temperature and time) for determining the resin content in which only the resin was removed without fiber heat loss. Accordingly, the measurement was performed in 100 °C increments at a resin pyrolysis temperature up to 800 °C with a heat treatment time of 4 h to continuously observe the degree of thermal decomposition of the resin. The thermal decomposition of unsaturated polyester was confirmed at the melting point (350 ℃) regardless of the type of fibers used as reinforcement. In the case of CFRP, most of the resin decomposition occurred at 300 °C. Notably, the resin was removed at a pyrolysis temperature of 400 ℃ and almost no change in weight was observed. However, at a pyrolysis temperature of 500 °C or higher, the thermal decomposition of the fibers occurred partially. The results show that the composite resin was removed within 10 min at a pyrolysis temperature of 400 °C in an air atmosphere when using TGA. 相似文献

Fiber materials as an asphalt mixture additive and stabilizer can effectively improve the performance index of asphalt pavement. In this study, lignin and carbon fiber were used as modifiers to study their effects on the road performance of asphalt mastic. Based on the frequency sweep, linear amplitude sweep (LAS) and multi-stress creep recovery (MSCR) experiments were conducted to test the high-temperature rutting and medium-temperature fatigue resistance of asphalt mastic with different fiber incorporation and low-temperature performance tests based on bending beam rheometer (BBR). The results indicate that adding fibers increased the stiffness of the asphalt mastic, and the modification effect of lignin fibers was better than that of carbon fibers. Meanwhile, the characteristic flow index of the asphalt mastic gradually increased with the increase in temperature, indicating that it gradually became a near-Newtonian fluid at higher temperatures. The addition of fibers also improved the high temperature rutting resistance of the asphalt mastic but did not have an advantageous effect on fatigue and low temperature cracking resistance. Additionally, the fitting results of the four-parameter Burgers model show that the use of fiber modification decreases the proportion of elasticity and viscous creep compliance but increases the delayed elasticity part. 相似文献

Trap stability is essential in luminescence dating and thermochronometry. Trap depth and frequency factors determining the stability of the fast component of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) in quartz, which is the most important in dating, have yet to be uniquely determined, especially for samples with an OSL signal not dominated by this component. One can determine them in OSL thermal depletion curve (OTDC) experiments. The separation of the fast OSL signal undisturbed by other OSL components is vital for obtaining accurate parameters for the traps of interest. This work presents a method of simultaneous thermal and optical stimulation using red light (620 nm) to separate the fast OSL component (the thermally modulated OSL method—TM-OSL). The OTDC experiment with the TM-OSL stimulation was used for the trap parameter determination on a variety of quartz samples, leading us to report for the first time, the trap parameters for the fast OSL component analytically separated in quartz from rock samples. The results obtained for these samples with the fast component of low intensity are consistent with those with an intensive fast OSL component. One of the ways of potential improvement of the particleboard properties, especially surface quality, can be the incorporation of wood fibers to face layers. This study aimed to evaluate the selected mechanical and physical parameters of single and multi-layered particleboards with the structure modified by the incorporation of various types and amounts of wood fibers. Single, 3- and 5-layers particleboards were produced with two different types of wood fibers added to the face and core layers. The basic mechanical parameters (modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, internal bond, surface soundness), as well as density profile and surface roughness, have been investigated. The results have shown that the single-layer panels with fibers did not meet the standard requirements due to unsatisfactory unstable parameters, probably caused by uneven resination. The remaining panels, 3- and 5-layer, met the standard requirements, and, due to fiber incorporation, there is also potential to reduce the panel density, still meeting standard requirements. The addition of fibers from 0% to 75% in face layers leads to an increase in the modulus of rupture from 10.6 N mm−2 to 15.6 N mm−2. Depending on the fibers’ type, the surface soundness can vary between 0.7 N mm−2 and 1.2 N mm−2. Five-layer panels were of similar or even higher parameters, but due to much-complicated technology, it seems unreasonable to develop this type of composite. The novelty of the conducted research is the attempt to modify the structure of particleboards by adding various amounts of two different types of fibers by mixing them with particles or adding them as separate layers and producing panels of different densities. 相似文献

Due to climate change and population expansion, concrete structures are progressively being subjected to more extreme environments. As the environment affects plastic shrinkage directly, there is a need to understand the effect of environmental changes on plastic shrinkage cracking. This paper examines the plastic shrinkage crack development parametrically at low, mid, and high drying environmental conditions, corresponding to different environments in three Saudi cities. The effects of water-cement ratios and quantities of recycled tire steel fibers (RTSF) in concrete are also investigated. The different environmental conditions for the plastic shrinkage tests were simulated in a specially designed chamber as per ASTM C1579, 2006. A digital image processing (DIP) technique was used to monitor crack initiation and development. Through the use of the crack reduction ratio (CRR), it was found that 30 kg/m3 of RTSF can control plastic shrinkage cracks at low and mid conditions. For the more extreme (high) conditions, the use of 40 kg/m3 of RTSF fiber was sufficient to completely eliminate surface plastic shrinkage cracks. This work can help develop more sustainable concrete structures in a wider set of environmental conditions and help mitigate the impact of climate change on concrete infrastructure. 相似文献

ObjectiveStone minerals are a partially ignored environmental challenge but a significant contributor to urban air pollution. We examined if short-term exposure to two stone minerals – quartz diorite and rhomb porphyry – commonly used in asphalt pavement would affect lung function, promote pulmonary inflammation, and affect bronchial reactivity differently.MethodsOur randomized crossover study included 24 healthy, non-smoking young adults exposed to the stone minerals quartz diorite, rhomb porphyry, and control dust (lactose). Exposure occurred in an exposure chamber, in three separate 4-hour exposure sessions. Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) and lung function were monitored before exposure, then immediately following exposure, and 4 and 24 hours after exposure. In addition, methacholine was administered 4 hours following exposure, and exhaled breath condensate (EBC) was collected before exposure, then immediately and 4 hours after exposure. EBC was analyzed for pH, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-10, P-Selectin, surfactant protein D (SP-D), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α).ResultsOur results showed significantly elevated concentrations of FeNO after exposure to quartz diorite compared to rhomb porphyry, suggesting that quartz diorite is more likely to trigger pulmonary inflammation after short-term exposure. Moreover, short-term exposure to rhomb porphyry was associated with a modest but statistically significant decline in forced vital capacity (FVC) compared to quartz diorite.ConclusionThese results emphasize that using stone material in asphalt road construction should be reconsidered as it may affect lung inflammation and lung function in exposed subjects. 相似文献

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a wide spectrum condition characterized by excessive liver fat accumulation in people who do not abuse alcohol. There is no effective medical treatment for NAFLD; therefore, most important recommendations to reduce liver steatosis are diet and lifestyle, including proper physical activity. The aim of our study was to analyze the fatty acids and eicosanoids changes in the serum of patients who consumed high-fiber rolls for 8 weeks. Materials and Methods: The group of 28 Caucasian participants was randomly divided into two groups, those who received 24 g of fiber/day—from 2 buns of 12 g each (n = 14), and those who received 12 g of fiber/day—from 2 buns of 6 g (n = 14). At the beginning and on the last visit of the 8-week intervention, all patients underwent NAFLD evaluation, biochemical parameter measurements, and fatty acids and eicosanoids evaluation. Results: Patients who received 12 g of fiber had significantly reduced liver steatosis and body mass index. In the group who received 24 g of fiber/day, we observed a trend to liver steatosis reduction (p = 0.07) and significant decrease in aspartate aminotransferase (p = 0.03) and total cholesterol (p = 0.03). All changes in fatty acid and eicosanoids profile were similar. Fatty acids analysis revealed that extra fiber intake was associated with a significant increase in monounsaturated fatty acids and decrease in saturated fatty acids. Moreover, both groups showed increased concentration of gamma linoleic acid and docosahexaenoic acid. We also observed reduction in prostaglandin E2. Conclusions: Our study revealed that a high amount of fiber in the diet is associated with a reduction in fatty liver, although this effect was more pronounced in patients in the lower fiber group. However, regardless of the amount of fiber consumed, we observed significant changes in the profile of FAs, which may reflect the positive changes in the lipids liver metabolism. Regardless of the amount of fiber consumed, patients decreased the amount of PGE2, which may indicate the lack of disease progression associated with the development of inflammation. 相似文献

Background: Indoxyl sulfate (IS) and p-cresyl sulfate (PCS), two uremic toxins (UTs), are associated with increased mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). These toxins are produced by the microbiota from the diet and excreted by the kidney. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of diet on IS and PCS concentration in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Methods: We performed a prospective monocentric study using a seven-day diet record and determination of serum IS and PCS levels in HD patients. We tested the association between toxin concentrations and nutritional data. Results: A total of 58/75 patients (77%) completed the diet record. Mean caloric intake was 22 ± 9.2 kcal/kg/day. The protein/fiber index was 4.9 ± 1.8. No correlation between IS or PCS concentration and protein/fiber index was highlighted. In the 18 anuric patients (31%) in whom residual renal function could not affect toxin concentrations, IS and PCS concentrations were negatively correlated with fiber intake and positively correlated with the protein/fiber index. In a multivariate analysis, IS serum concentration was positively associated with the protein/fiber index (p = 0.03). Conclusions: A low protein/fiber index is associated with low concentrations of uremic toxins in anuric HD patients. Diets with an increased fiber intake must be tested to determine whether they reduce PCS and IS serum concentrations. 相似文献

目的探讨艾司西酞普兰与帕罗西汀治疗老年脑卒中后抑郁的临床疗效及安全性。方法将68例患者随机分为A组和B组,各34例,A组口服草酸艾司西酞普兰,B组口服帕罗西汀。两组于治疗前和治疗后1,2,4,8周末采用汉密尔顿抑郁量表(HAMD)评定疗效,不良反应量表(TESS)评定不良反应。结果两组治疗后HAMD评分均较治疗前显著下降,差异有统计学意义(P<0.01);A组和B组疗效总有效率分别为94.12%和91.18%,不良反应率分别为35.29%和38.24%,差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论艾司西酞普兰与帕罗西汀治疗老年脑卒中后抑郁的疗效相当,但艾司西酞普兰起效更快,不良反应更轻,适合作为老年脑卒中后抑郁患者的一线用药。 相似文献

We present a rare case of COVID-19 associated conjunctivitis where patient presented with redness, foreign body sensation, watering, and pain. Symptoms started while patient was COVID-19 positive. On examination, severe conjunctival congestion was present along with follicles. Visual acuity was 6/6 in both eyes. The patient was started on topical antibiotics and showed improvement but again presented with aggravated symptoms. Conjunctival swab was sent for culture and sensitivity, which was negative for any organisms. The patient was then started on oral and topical steroid, which showed improvement. Even though COVID-19 associated conjunctivitis is self-limiting, here it showed a progressive course and resolved only after steroid. 相似文献
