Objective
To evaluate acceptability and continuity of use of the levonorgestrel intrauterine device (LNG-IUD, Mirena®) as a contraceptive method among Spanish women choosing intrauterine contraception, with special attention paid to counselling.Methods
Women requesting contraception were informed of the available choices, including the LNG-IUD. Variables involved in the choice of method, including counselling, were evaluated. Women who chose Mirena® were followed-up for 1 year.Results
Of the 944 women included in this study, 542 chose the LNG-IUD. We observed a significant and progressive decrease in bleeding and in the number of bleeding days and sanitary pads used (from 21.00 ± 14.22 sanitary pads at insertion to 3.59 ± 4.86 after 1 year). Adverse effects were reported by 21.75%, 16.03% and 13.67% of women at visits 2, 3 and 4 respectively. In general, Mirena® was well tolerated, producing no major adverse effects. No pregnancies or major complications were observed. Alter 1 year of use, satisfaction was good-very good in 93% of users and the continuation rate was over 90%.Conclusions The LNG-IUD is a suitable contraceptive method for Spanish women interested in intrauterine contraception, especially those with heavy menstrual bleeding. Satisfaction and continuation rates are high. Adverse effects are minor, generally well tolerated, and can last for the first year. Purpose Although many reports support stimulated in vitro fertilization, several patients do not respond to it well. Furthermore,
stimulated treatment could be associated with reduced ovarian response. We describe three successful cases involving patients
of advanced age from whom dominant follicles were retrieved during the natural cycle.
Materials and methods All patients had failed to bear children through stimulated in vitro fertilization. In case 1, a follicle was retrieved after
a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist was used to induce luteinizing hormone surge. In cases 2 and 3, pregnancy was achieved
via completely natural cycles.
Results One embryo was transferred every 16 cycles. Ongoing pregnancy—defined as pregnancy progressing beyond gestation week 9—was
established in three cycles. The patients successfully delivered and had uneventful neonatal courses.
Conclusion Mature oocyte retrieval followed by natural rather than stimulated in vitro fertilization might be a potential treatment for
patients of advanced age when stimulated in vitro fertilization has been repeatedly unsuccessful.

Increasing demand for energy-efficient means of transport has steadily intensified the trend towards lightweight components. Thermoplastic glass fiber composites (organo sheets) play a major role in the production of functional automotive components. Organo sheets are cut, shaped and functionalized by injection molding to produce hybrid components, such as those used in car door modules. The cutting process produces a considerable amount of production waste, which has thus far been thermally recycled. This study develops a closed mechanical recycling process and analyzes the different steps of the process. The offcuts were shredded using two shredding methods and implemented directly in the injection-molding process. Using tensile tests and impact bending tests, the material properties of the recycled materials were compared with the virgin material. In addition, fiber length degradation via the injection-molding process and the influence of the waterjet-cutting process on the mechanical properties are investigated. Recycled offcuts are both comparable to new material in terms of mechanical properties and usability, and are also economically and ecologically advantageous. Recycling polypropylene waste with glass fiber reinforcement in a closed loop is an effective way to reduce industrial waste in a sustainable and economical production process. 相似文献
