Learners’ acceptance of a webinar for continuing medical education

The aim of this study was to evaluate learners’ acceptance of a webinar for continuing medical education that was instigated by the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS). A live, interactive webinar on orthognathic surgery was broadcast via the Internet. The learners’ acceptance of the webinar was evaluated using a standardized, validated questionnaire (Student Evaluation of Educational Quality, SEEQ). One hundred and fifty-three participants attended the webinar; 55 participants (46 male, nine female) completed the questionnaire. The mean age of the respondents was 41.6 ± 10.0 years. The age of male and female respondents did not differ significantly. The respondents were spread over five continents, with the highest number from Brazil. The SEEQ showed a high level of acceptance for almost all subscales. There was no statistically significant difference between male and female respondents concerning acceptance of the webinar (P = 0.614). The wide distribution of participants shows the potential for webinars as facilitators of barrier-free distribution of knowledge. The webinar was well accepted by the attendees independent of sex, specialty, and work experience. However, the sex ratio reflects the underrepresentation of women in oral and maxillofacial surgery.     

Wrong tooth extraction: further analysis of “never event” data

The NHS in England requires the reporting of defined “never events” that are directly related to patients’ safety. Analysis of data from 2012–2015 has been published previously in this journal. An examination of continuing data from 2015–2019 shows that “wrong tooth/teeth removed” has not reduced in frequency and it still remains a common “wrong-site surgery” event accounting for between 16% and 24% of wrong-site surgery never events and 7%–10% of all never events reported. Hospitals and community Trusts remain the main source of such reports, although some now originate from primary-care-based dental settings. Further efforts have focused on prevention, and the implementation of existing measures to reduce the risk of wrong tooth extraction, is warranted.     

手术患者“边缘时间”的安全护理

现代医院手术室每日接待大量的手术患者,虽然都已经认识到各种风险的存在,但往往把目光集中在手术间内,而容易忽略手术前、后病人在转运过程“边缘时间”的安全。文章总结、分析了以往手术前后“边缘时间”存在的风险,设置了合理的接送程序;使用患者身份识别腕带的“五查对制度”;采取搬运患者前的“一查、二看、三整理、四搬运”等护理对策。     

现代教育技术在执业药师远程继续教育中的应用研究

利用计算机技术，搭建执业药师网上远程继续教育的平台，将主管部门审核的有关执业药师继续教育的教学内容放到网上，供参加执业药师继续教育的人员浏览学习。通过加强管理，严格考核，变传统教学模式为现代教育方式，实现教育的个性化，有效提高执业药师的继续教育质量。     

试论加强国际合作与促进我国医学伦理学教育的发展

原北京医科大学(现为北京大学医学部)从20世纪90年代初开始,积极寻求与美国中华医学基金会的合作以促进医学伦理学的学科发展和国际化水平的提高。十几年来,北京大学医学部作为基地和依托极大地支持和引领了我国医学伦理学的教学改革与发展,增强了相关人员的医学伦理意识以及医学伦理学理论对实践的指导作用,促进了伦理学知识和能力的培训,提升了我国生物医学科研伦理的实力,奠定了医学伦理学继续教育的基础,使医学伦理学实现了系统性和跨越式的发展。     

外科学教学中的审美教育

医学审美教育是医学生全面素质教育不可分割的组成部分,笔者结合长期外科教学实践,阐述了在外科学教学中运用医学美学原理对外科学的美进行开发和挖掘,使医学生在熟练掌握外科学基本理论和基本技能的同时,潜移默化地接受美的教育,美的熏陶,更能激发他们对外科学的热爱和兴趣,达到全面提高医学生整体素质的目的。
