BackgroundBehçet’s disease (BD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder with multifactorial cause. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) perform an essential role in gene regulation, and there is ongoing research in their contribution to autoimmune diseases.Aim of the workTo determine expression levels and diagnostic value of Theiler's Murine Encephalitis Virus Possible Gene1 (TMEVPG1) and TNFα and hnRNPL related immunoregulatory long non-coding RNA (THRIL) in BD, and to assess their role in the clinical characteristics of BD and disease activity.Patients and methodsStudy included 30 BD patients (12 females and 18 males) and 30 matched controls. Expression levels of TMEVPG1 and THRIL were detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction.ResultsThe mean age of patients was 37.5 ± 11.3 years and disease duration was 7.7 ± 6 years. Expression levels of TMEVPG1 and THRIL were upregulated significantly in serum of patients compared with controls (set as 1). TMEVPG1 fold change = 3.0 with interquartile range (0.2–546.9) (p < 0.0001), while THRIL fold change = 3.6 with interquartile range (0.1–112.3) (p < 0.0001). There was significant correlation between TMEVPG1 and THRIL (r = 0.48, p = 0.007). TMEVPG1 did not correlate with the clinical characteristics of patients, while THRIL correlated only with central nervous system manifestations. At a cut-off point of 1.3 the sensitivity of TMEVPG1 was 76.7%, while THRIL at 1.08 was 73.3% and specificity was 100% for both.ConclusionTMEVPG1 and THRIL were differentially expressed in the serum of BD patients and both had potential diagnostic value. Chun Mee tea is a kind of green tea produced in China mainly for export purposes. Foam quantity is usually used as an index for evaluating the quality of Chun Mee tea. In the current study, we compared the concentrations of total saponin and flavonoids between foamy and low-foam Chun Mee tea. Our research confirmed that the total saponin and O-glycosylated flavonoid concentrations were related to the foam quantity of Chun Mee teas. We also studied the short-term safety effects of extract supplementation with foamy and low-foam Chun Mee tea in rats by routine blood tests and analysis of liver and kidney function, and blood lipids. Our results showed that both types of tea extract supplementations did not cause any observable adverse effects or impair either liver or kidney function. Additionally, this study confirmed the beneficial effects of Chun Mee tea extract supplementation on the decrease of total plasma cholesterol. 相似文献

BackgroundPrimary hyperparathyroidism (PHP) is defined as hypercalcemia that may remain asymptomatic for years and cause lesion in skeletal system such as brown tumor (BT). Endocrine involvement in Behçet’s Disease (BD) regarding various systems can be seen.Case reportWe report an association between BD and PHP in a 45-year-old female. She had complained of inflammatory pain in the lower limb. Plain x-ray showed a lytic lesion on the upper tibia. Laboratory investigations revealed hypercalcemia (3.32 mmol/L), hypophosphatemia (0.48 mmol/L), a high parathyroid hormone (PTH) level (2278 pg/L) and a low vitamin D level (8.1 μg/L). An adenoma in the right lower parathyroid has been shown on scintigraphy, a vertebral fracture was present on lumbar spine X-ray and salt and pepper skull was shown on the lateral skull X-ray. Severe osteoporosis was present on the lumbar bone mineral density (t score ?3.3), and multiple BT were revealed on bone scan. The patient was operated on and developed Hungry Bone Syndrome (HBS) following surgery. Therefore, she received high doses of calcium with favorable outcome.ConclusionThis case is a leading report for the coexistence of BD with PHP. This case provides further evidence that BD should be considered as an autoimmune process, which may be associated with endocrine involvement including PHP. On the other hand, musculoskeletal manifestations of PHP including BT still seen in daily practice require continued vigilance on the part of the physician. 相似文献

[目的]探讨附子大黄配伍对阳虚便秘动物的治疗作用及其机制。[方法]观察附子大黄不同配伍比例对阳虚便秘小鼠、大鼠的排便时间、排便量、小肠推进作用的影响;对阳虚便秘大鼠血中胃动素(MOT)、促胃液素(Gas)、内皮素(ET)、生长抑素(Ss)、P物质(SP)及肠神经递质血管活性肠肽(VIP)、乙酰胆碱酯酶(AchE)的影响。[结果]与模型组比较,附子大黄配伍组动物的首粒排便时间显著缩短,3h内排便粒数显著增加,小肠推进率明显提高,其疗效优于附子单煎剂或大黄单煎剂;附子大黄配伍组动物血中MOT、Gas、ET、AchE显著升高。[结论]附子大黄配伍对阳虚便秘动物具有确切的治疗作用,其作用机制可能与其干预胃肠激素及肠神经递质的分泌有关。 相似文献
