Investigating the cognitive neuroscience of social behavior

Social cognitive neuroscience is a fledgling discipline that has already accrued an impressive body of data, but important questions remain regarding the theoretical constructs and methodological approaches that it utilizes. An overview of the papers in this special issue points to several key issues facing the field. We need a theoretical vocabulary that bridges three domains: our intuitive "folk" conceptions of other people, the explanations offered by social psychology, and the explanations offered by cognitive neuroscience. And we need a method that can extract common patterns across multiple studies, to complement strict hypothesis testing of individual studies. These issues can be addressed, in part, by giving theory and experiment equal time, and by fostering an interdisciplinary approach that includes neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, anthropology and allied disciplines.

哲学课程对医学生人文素质的培养具有重要作用，为更好地实现通过哲学教育不断提升医学生人文精神境界的目的，必须进一步加强哲学教学实效性的探索和研究，就此进行了实践性的探索和理论总结，帮助学生树立较强烈的学习哲学的动机；更新传统教育理念，改变教育模式；贯彻符合当代青年认知习惯与规律的教学方法；注重教学内容的创新和调整．     

中学生心理问题的哲学思考

中学阶段是人生世界观、人生观、价值观形成的重要时期。中学生在成长过程中会出现许多心理偏差，运用哲学观点剖析他们的心理问题将起到其他任何手段无法替代的作用。     

The telling and knowing of dying: philosophical bases for hospice care in Japan

This article describes the historical and cultural factors that led to the modern definition of hospice in the United States and Japan. It also raises questions about the import of western hospice philosophy into Japan by examining some traditional values and cultural norms of behaviour surrounding dying in that country. The ethics of disclosure and open discussion, as a prerequisite to and foundational value in western hospice care, differs in Japan. If traditional Japanese values remain strong, expectations regarding hospice care based on this western ethics may be misplaced. This report ends with a suggestion of replacing the western imported hospice philosophy with an (as yet not explicated) Japanese philosophical ethic of the good.     

Introduction: Philosophy in and Philosophy of Cognitive Science

Despite being there from the beginning, philosophical approaches have never had a settled place in cognitive research and few cognitive researchers not trained in philosophy have a clear sense of what its role has been or should be. We distinguish philosophy in cognitive research and philosophy of cognitive research. Concerning philosophy in cognitive research, after exploring some standard reactions to this work by nonphilosophers, we will pay particular attention to the methods that philosophers use. Being neither experimental nor computational, they can leave others bewildered. Thought experiments are the most striking example but not the only one. Concerning philosophy of cognitive research, we will pay particular attention to its power to generate and test normative claims, claims about what should and should not be done.

全球化时代对当代医学教育提出了更高的要求。社会进步、科学发展和医疗实践的需要,不仅呼唤着医学哲学,同时也呼唤着具有很高哲学素养的医学人才。在全球化背景下,必须强化医学与哲学的融会整合,加强医学生的哲学素养教育,建构起当代医学教育主动适应社会、积极进取的教育意识。
