The effect of consumers’ compliance with nutritional recommendations is uncertain because of potentially complex substitutions. To lift this uncertainty, we adapt a model of consumer behaviour under rationing to the case of linear nutritional constraints. Dietary adjustments are derived from information on consumer preferences, consumption levels, and nutritional contents of foods. A calibration exercise simulates, for different income groups, how the French diet would respond to various nutrition recommendations, and those behavioural adjustments are translated into health outcomes through the DIETRON epidemiological model. This allows for the ex-ante comparison of the efficiency, equity and health effects of ten nutritional recommendations. Although most recommendations impose significant taste costs on consumers, they are highly cost-effective, with the recommendations targeting salt, saturated fat, and fruits and vegetables (F&V) ranking highest in terms of efficiency. Most recommendations are also economically progressive, with the exception of that targeting F&V.  相似文献

Background

Nurses’ modifiable lifestyles have important health-related consequences.

Purpose

To examine the literature on U.S. hospital nurses’ activity, diet, and health outcomes of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risks and health-related quality of life (HRQOL).

Method

A systematic review using of the literature from June 2006 to June 2016 resulted in 13 studies on U.S. hospital nurses’ diet, physical activity and CVD and HRQOL outcomes. Methodological rigor was assessed using Cummings et al., adapted quality rating tool.

Discussion

Nurses are at risk for poor health outcomes due to inadequate physical activity (60%–74%) and eating a poor quality diet (53%–61%). Fewer than 5% of U.S. nurses engage in five healthy lifestyle behaviors (diet, activity, no tobacco, alcohol, and weight). Adequate physical activity contributes to better HRQOL and a healthy diet reduces CVD risks (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, stroke).

Conclusions

Nurses’ inactivity and poor diet increases risks for CVD and diminished HRQOL.  相似文献

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES

This study aims to determine contribution of meal frequency, self-efficacy for healthy eating, and availability of healthy foods towards diet quality of adolescents in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

SUBJECTS/METHODS

This study was conducted among 373 adolescents aged from 13 to 16 years old. Diet quality of the respondents was assessed using the Healthy Eating Index for Malaysians. Meal frequency, self-efficacy for healthy eating, and availability of healthy foods were assessed through the Eating Behaviours Questionnaire (EBQ), self-efficacy for healthy eating scale, and availability of healthy foods scale, respectively.

RESULTS

The majority of the respondents (80.7%) were at risk of poor diet quality. Males (mean = 34.2 ± 8.2%) had poorer diet quality than females (mean = 39.9 ± 9.0%) (t = -5.941, P < 0.05). Malay respondents (mean = 36.9 ± 8.7%) had poorer diet quality than Indian respondents (mean = 41.3 ± 10.0%) (F = 2.762, P < 0.05). Age (r = 0.123, P < 0.05), self-efficacy for healthy eating (r = 0.129, P < 0.05), and availability of healthy foods (r = 0.159, P < 0.05) were positively correlated with the diet quality of the respondents. However, meal frequency was not correlated with the diet quality of the respondents. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that being a male, being a Malay, low self-efficacy for healthy eating, and low availability of healthy foods contributed significantly towards poor diet quality among respondents.

CONCLUSIONS

In short, sex, ethnicity, self-efficacy for healthy eating, and availability of healthy foods were associated with diet quality among adolescents. Health practitioners should take into consideration of differences in sex and ethnicity during implementation of nutrition-related intervention programs. Self-efficacy for healthy eating and availability of healthy foods should be included as important components in improving diet quality of adolescents.  相似文献

AimsTo systematically evaluate the evidence regarding the effects of foods on LDL cholesterol levels and to compare the findings with current guidelines.Data synthesisFrom inception through June 2019, we searched PubMed, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials for guidelines, systematic reviews, and RCTs (for coffee intake only) of at least 13 days duration. Additionally, we searched Trip database for guidelines from 2009 through Oct 2019. Language was restricted to English. The strength of evidence was evaluated using The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE). A total of 37 guidelines, 108 systematic reviews, and 20 RCTs were included. With high evidence, foods high in unsaturated and low in saturated and trans fatty acids (e.g. rapeseed/canola oil), with added plant sterols/stanols, and high in soluble fiber (e.g. oats, barley, and psyllium) caused at least moderate (i.e. 0.20–0.40 mmol/L) reductions in LDL cholesterol. Unfiltered coffee caused a moderate to large increase. Soy protein, tomatoes, flaxseeds, and almonds caused small reductions. With moderate evidence, avocados and turmeric caused moderate to large reductions. Pulses, hazelnuts, walnuts, high-fiber/wholegrain foods, and green tea caused small to moderate reductions, whereas sugar caused a small increase. Other identified foods were either neutral or had low or very low evidence regarding their effects.ConclusionsSeveral foods distinctly modify LDL cholesterol levels. The results may aid future guidelines and dietary advice for hypercholesterolemia.  相似文献

目的 应用调整的膳食平衡指数(DBI-07)评价中年体检人群的膳食质量,从而对目标人群进行针对性的营养干预.方法 于2013年1月~2013年12月选取合肥某三甲医院体检中心,年龄为45~60周岁的体检者.运用膳食平衡指数(DBI-07)对其膳食质量进行评价.结果 在该体检人群中,谷薯类达到以及超过推荐量的人占到47.4%;水果蔬菜达到以及超过推荐量的人仅仅占到0.9%,豆类和奶类仅占1.6%;动物性食物摄入不足的人占到71.5%;将近一半的人摄入油、盐及酒精过多;97.2%的人的食物种类较为丰富;77.4%的人的饮水情况较好.结论 该体检人群的膳食摄入总体还不均衡,均存在着摄入不足和摄入过量的问题,膳食摄入不足与膳食总体不均衡的情况有待进一步改善.  相似文献

IntroductionMalnutrition in chronic pancreatitis (CP) has prognostic value and there is limited data on the prevalence, predictors of malnutrition in CP and its effect on Quality of life (QoL).MethodsA retrospective study was conducted in patients with CP to assess the prevalence of malnutrition as per the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria. Multivariable-adjusted regression was used to identify independent predictors of both malnutrition and global QoL.ResultsA total of 297 patients were included and the most common etiology of CP was idiopathic (75%) and alcohol (25%). The prevalence of malnutrition was 46.4% as per GLIM criteria. On univariate analysis, the risk of malnutrition was significantly higher in alcoholic etiology (p = 0.001), current alcohol consumption (p = 0.001), smokers (p < 0.001), those having higher cumulative days of pain in last 6 months (p < 0.001) and lower daily calorie intake (p = 0.019). On multivariate analysis, malnutrition was independently associated with current alcohol consumption (Odds ratio: 3.22, p = 0.017), current smokers (OR: 2.23, p = 0.042) and those having higher cumulative days of abdominal pain (OR: 1.01, p < 0.001), while higher daily calorie intake (per 100 kcal) (OR:0.94, p = 0.023) has reduced risk of malnutrition. Malnutrition (p = 0.015) and higher cumulative days of abdominal pain (p < 0.001) were independently associated with lower global QoL in patients with CP.ConclusionMalnutrition is frequent in patients with CP; and current alcohol consumption, smoking and higher cumulative days of abdominal pain independently predicts risk of developing malnutrition. Patients with malnutrition and higher cumulative days of pain has poorer quality of life.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Glucocorticosteroids alter intestinal morphology and transport. We tested the hypothesis that the desired intestinal adaptive response following intestinal resection may be enhanced further by the locally active steroid budesonide, and by feeding a saturated as compared with a polyunsaturated fatty acid diet. METHODS: An in-vitro uptake method was used to assess intestinal fructose uptake by rats of semisynthetic diets enriched in saturated or polyunsaturated fatty acids, and injected with budesonide or control solution. RESULTS: Budesonide increased ileal fructose uptake in chow and PUFA-fed animals, but reduced jejunal fructose uptake in rats fed SFA. GLUT5 and GLUT2 protein and mRNA did not correlate with changes in fructose uptake. Steroids reduced jejunal proglucagon expression in animals fed chow. Animals fed SFA and given budesonide had a reduction in jejunal ODC mRNA compared with those fed PUFA or chow. CONCLUSIONS: (1) budesonide increases ileal fructose uptake following intestinal resection, and this beneficial effect is prevented by feeding SFA rather than PUFA; (2) fructose uptake does not correlate with GLUT5 and GLUT2 protein and mRNA; (3) ODC and proglucagon may be involved in this adaptive response.  相似文献

目的:研究我国高血压患病率较低发区的广东三个人群膳食结构特点,以利于找出预防高血压合理的膳食模型。方法:应用食物频数法,对广东三个主要地方方言及地理环境不同的25岁以上成人共926人,进行膳食营养因素的分析。结果:平均每人每天膳食营养素的摄入量为:蛋白质热量占总热量摄入的17.5%,脂肪占20.1%,碳水化合物占61.2%;本文显示广东人群的饮食特点是较高优质蛋白质和较低钠摄入。结论:提示该膳食模式有利于广东人群的血压维持在较低水平  相似文献
