The intraperitoneal mass most commonly encountered after blunt abdominal truama is a hematoma. However, one must also consider unusual bulky tumors that can have imaging characteristics similar to those of hematoma. The most typical of these neoplasms is lymphoma, but a desmoplastic small cell tumor also may be observed. The presentation and imaging findings of a desmoplastic small tumor are described.  相似文献

Clinical cardiac imaging is hindered by noise due to limited activity and imaging time. Use of 90° dual-detector systems with 90° gantry rotation may provide the best sensitivity/resolution for cardiac imaging, but this option is not readily available to those using a triple-detector system with detectors at 120° intervals. This study utilizes a cardiac/chest phantom to compare several triple-detector orbits, with assessment of sensitivity and resolution. A 180° rotation with reconstruction of two of the three heads was evaluated, resulting in overlapping 180° orbits; use of a starting angle of 165° for the first head placed the overlapping portion of the orbits over the LAO myocardial region, where camera-cardiac distance is most favorable. Use of this overlapping orbit yielded resolution equivalent to a conventional (single-head) 180° rotation. Sensitivity was 87%–90% of that of a 90° dual-detector system, and 16%–20% better than the common practice of using a 120° orbit with reconstruction of 1 /12 heads to achieve 180° of data. Use of 360° acquisition with reconstruction of all three heads provided the greatest sensitivity, though at the expense of some loss in image quality. Thus, for those centers performing cardiac imaging using a triple-detector system, use of overlapping 180° orbits is the preferred acquisition choice.  相似文献

用酶联亲合组化法对46例肺肿瘤细胞进行了雌激素受体(ER)和孕激素受体(PR)检测。同时测定14例肺瘤肿患者血清雌二醇(E_2)浓度。结果表明:肺肿瘤 ER 阳性率为36.9%,PR 阳性率为13.0%。阳性率与性别、病理类型及血浆 E_2浓度无关。认为肺癌的发生发展可能与雌激素有依赖关系,提示内分泌疗法可能会成为原发肺肿瘤的一种治疗手段。另用 ABC 法对上述46例肺肿瘤中的29例进行了花生凝集素受体(PNA-R)和麦胚凝集素受体(WGA-R)的检测,PNA-R 在腺癌大都为顶浆型分布,鳞癌和透明细胞癌则多为胞膜型分布。结果提示 PNA-R 是肺癌分化过程中的一种标志,对肺癌分型、预后判断有一定协助作用。同时将29例肺肿瘤 PNA-R 与 ER 状况作对比研究,探讨了二者之间的相关性及可能的发生机制。  相似文献

This study compares the incidence of local tumor recurrence following primary excision with the CO2 laser, Nd:YAG laser (contact), Argon Beam Coagulator, or electrocautery. One hundred eight Fisher 344 rats with R3230AC mammary tumors (1.6 +/- 0.04 [SD] cm diameter) were used. All animals were randomized into groups of similar tumor size. In groups C and CS, excision was performed with a Sharplan 1060 CO2 laser (TEMoo, 25 W, continuous wave [CW], 0.2-mm spot size). Wounds in group CS were "sterilized" (0.5-mm spot size, 25 W, CW) by gently heating the wound without causing blanching or charring. In group N, a 0.4-mm contact Laser Blade and a Cooper 8000 Nd:YAG laser at 20 W CW was used. In groups SA1 and SA2, tumors were excised with the scalpel, and hemostasis and wound "sterilization" were accomplished with the Bard System 6000 Argon Beam Coagulator (ABC) at 40 W and 4 liters/min argon gas flow in SA1 and 12 liters/min in SA2. In group E, excision was accomplished at 40 W blend mode, 10 W spray mode. In group EA, excision was accomplished at 60 W cutting current, and hemostasis was achieved with the ABC. The animals were examined for evidence of recurrence for 34 days postoperatively. Mortalities were excluded from analysis. The incidence of recurrence was 11/14 (79%) in C, 6/16 (38%) in CS, 10/14 (71%) in SA1, 6/13 (46%) in SA2, 6/15 (40%) in N, 7/10 (70%) in EA, and 3/15 (20%) in E. Group E is statistically different (P less than .01) from groups EA, C, and SA1. Group C was different (P less than .01) from groups E, CS, and N. These results demonstrate an inverse relationship between tumor recurrence and local thermal effects at the surgical site. The ABC did not increase tumor recurrence. Contact YAG surgery was similar to CO2 laser excision and "sterilization." An attempt to study the influence of gas flow and pressure on local tumor recurrence and metastases should be made.  相似文献

Analysis of data obtained by linking the 1960 Swedish Census and the Swedish Cancer Registry has demonstrated an increased risk of pleural mesothelioma among pulp and paper workers. The present study was undertaken with the aim of revealing possible environmental risk factors. The work histories of the 25 cases identified earlier were reviewed. "Certain" or "probable" exposure to asbestos was found among 70% of these workers. The study illustrates how linkage of official registers can be used to identify new risk environments and encourage the establishment of preventive measures.  相似文献

Tumor cells infected with a retrovirus vector (VIK) containing the herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase (HSV-TK) gene can be selectively killed by treatment with nucleoside analogues, such as ganciclovir. To mediate delivery of the HSV-TK gene to "recipient" tumor cells, "donor" C6 rat glioma cells infected with the VIK vector (C6VIK) were superinfected with wild type Moloney murine leukemia virus (WT Mo-MLV). These modified donor cells (C6VIKWT) produced both wild type retrovirus and the VIK vector. In culture, C6VIKWT cells were 300-fold more sensitive to the toxicity of ganciclovir than were C6VIK cells, suggesting that the presence of wild type retrovirus contributed to the toxicity. Co-culture of C6VIKWT cells with the C6 subline, C6BAG, sensitized the latter to ganciclovir treatment. Nude mice inoculated subcutaneously with a mixture of C6VIKWT and C6BAG cells showed regression of subsequent tumors when treated with ganciclovir. The observations show that tumor cells modified in culture by infection with a retrovirus bearing the HSV-TK gene and wild type retrovirus are not only sensitive to ganciclovir, but can transfer this sensitivity to neighboring "naive" tumor cells in culture and in vivo.  相似文献

Summary Seven monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) reactive with ganglioside II3(NeuAc)2-LacCer (GD3) were generated; four of these mAbs (DMAb-21, DMAb-22, DMAb-23, and DMAb-24) by immunizing mice with GD3 adsorbed to Salmonella minnesota and the remaining three (DMAb-7, DMAb-8, and DMAb-17) with melanoma line SK-MEL 28, which contains 1.4 nmol sialic acid of GD3 per mg protein. The specificities of the mAbs were defined by high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) immunostain and solid-phase radioimmunoassay (SP-RIA) with a panel of purified gangliosides. DMAb-7 and DMAb-8 reacted with GD3, IV3(NeuAc)2nLcOse4Cer(3,8-LD1), and very weakly with IV3(NeuAc)2II3NeuAc-GgOse4Cer (GTla), but not with II3NeuAc-LacCer (GM3), II3NeuAcGgOse3Cer(GM2), II3NeuAc-GgOse4Cer(GM1), II3NeuAc, IV3NeuAcGgOse4Cer (GD1a), II3(NeuAc)2GgOse3(GD2), II3(NeuAc)2GgOse4Cer (GD1b), IV3NeuAcII3(NeuAc)2, GgOse4Cer(GT1b), suggesting the binding epitope to be a terminal tetrasaccharide NeuAc2-8NeuAc2-3Gal1-4(Glc or GlcNAc). DMAb-7 and DMAb-8 were used to investigate the expression of GD3 on cultured human tumor cells of neuroectodermal origin. Thirteen of 19 gliomas, 3 of 5 medulloblastomas, 5 of 5 neuroblastomas, 2 of 2 melanomas, and 1 of 3 teratomas were shown to react with DMAb-8 and/or DMAb-7 by cell surface-RIA (CS-RIA) and immunofluorescence (IF) assays. HPTLC and densitometric analysis confirmed these results, as positive immunostains in the GD3 region were obtained with oligoganglioside fractions from 9 glioma, 1 medulloblastoma, 2 neuroblastoma, 1 melanoma, and 1 teratoma cell line. Glioma cell line U-105 MG and medulloblastoma cell line Daoy contain GD3 as shown by HPTLC immunostain analysis of extracts, although GD3 was undetectable on the cell surface as determined by CS-RIA and IF. There was no detectable GD3 found in gangliosides isolated from cell lines U-373 MG, D-54 MG, TE-671, and PA-1, which were negative for both DMAb-7 and DMAb-8 by CS-RIA and IF assay. Effects of different inspiratory concentrations of sevoflurane (fluorometyl-1,1,1,3,3,3,-hexafluoro-2-propylether) on blood pressure, heart rate and efferent activities of cardiac sympathetic, cardiac parasympathetic and renal sympathetic nerves were examined using rats either under the resting condition or during noxious mechanical stimulation of a hindpaw. Under the resting condition, an increase in the inspiratory concentration of sevoflurane from 2.1% to 4.2% gradually caused a decrease in blood pressure and heart rate. With the increase in the sevoflurane concentration, cardiac sympathetic nerve activity decreased, whereas renal sympathetic nerve and cardiac parasympathetic nerve activities did not change significantly. When noxious mechanical stimulation was applied to a hind-paw by pinching, blood pressure and heart rate, renal sympathetic and cardiac sympathetic nerve activities all increased at the 2.1% concentration of sevoflurane. The responses of these parameters were attenuated at the 3.1% concentration of sevoflurane and almost disappeared at the 4.2% concentration. Summary We report a case of a third ventricular neuroblastoma (neurocytoma) in a 66 year old man. A stereotactic needly biopsy was performed to obtain a tissue diagnosis and was followed by total resection. We elected not to give radiation or chemotherapy and to follow the patient closely with serial CT scans. Presently, 48 months postoperatively, the patient is free of tumor by head CT scan and able to live independently. We reviewed the literature of primary cerebral neuroblastomas/neurocytomas occurring in adults (15 years of age) and found 32 cases. Our patient is the oldest of this group with a mean age of 32 ± 14 years (S.D.). The location of the 33 neoplasms was intraventricular in 17 cases (52%) and intraparenchymal in 16 cases. The male to female ratio was 2: 1. Of the 17 patients having a minimal follow-up period of 5 months (mean 51 months), five developed recurrences after 5 to 144 months (mean 50 months) compared to 12 patients without recurrence after a 6- to 72-month follow-up period (mean 52 months). Recurrences occurred statistically significantly more often in parenchymal neuroblastomas/neurocytomas than in intraventricular tumor locations.  相似文献

Summary Up-to-date unsatisfactory results obtained in multimodality treatments of malignant glioma have prompted the research of new therapeutic modalities with unconventional modes of action. Lonidamine (LND) is a drug which reduces aerobic glycolytic activity in both human and experimental tumors. This effect mainly depends on the inhibition of mitochondrially-bound hexokinase (HK) which is present in large amounts in malignant cells. A Phase II study was conducted on patients with recurrent glioma; 12 patients were admitted to the study. Clinical side effects were moderate, necessitating a reduction of the dosage in only 1 case. The objective results were evaluated according to the indications of Levin. 2 responders and 3 cases of stable disease were observed out of 10 evaluable patients. The potential value of this new drug is discussed.  相似文献
