In cases of criminal dismemberment, the analysis of saw marks helps to determine the class of the saw used. The present study compared the microscopic features of experimental false starts performed on three freshly defleshed human femurs. 150 lesions were produced using three reciprocating blades and two hand saws of similar class. Two groups of tools were created according to the class of the blades: group 1 (teeth per inch = 6, alternating set) and group 2 (teeth per inch = 24, wavy set).The minimum width of the kerf was always thicker with reciprocating blades than that of the handsaw of the same class. This fact is linked to the thickness of the blades and not necessarily to the fast forth and back motion of the blades. Shape kerf profiles and shape of the walls were very confusing, with a lot of variation of the false starts caused by the reciprocating blades and the risk of misclassification (rip teeth versus crosscut teeth, alternating set versus wavy set). Striae on the kerf floor and bone islands were more consistent.The main conclusions are, first, that usual features of false starts achieved by reciprocating saw blades used in this work vary a great deal and may lead to misclassification of the saw class, and second, that no criterion has been found to differentiate reciprocating blades and handsaws. These results demonstrate that we have to be very prudent while estimating the possible saw from a false start in a real forensic case.  相似文献

Fatalities attributed to powered circular saws appear to be vanishingly rare events with highly wounding and rapidly incapacitating effects. When they do occur, they are mainly self-inflicted in nature. We report the suicide committed by a 79-year-old man using a self-made circular table saw. Autopsy confirmed that the man received multiple heterogeneously distributed saw-type impacts to the head and neck resulting in complete amputation of the upper skull and partial beheading. Homemade or modified commercial sawing instruments and the resultant injuries pose a number of forensic challenges starting from the death scene investigation, continuing with technical examinations, and concluding with determining the manner of death. As with all deaths due to sharp force injuries, fatalities involving power tools such as chainsaws, circular, and band saws warrant a high degree of suspicion of criminal activity and require diligence during all phases of the death investigation.  相似文献

IntroductionFor trochanteric fractures, helical blade placement is crucial to the prognosis of operations. Existing measurement methods used for blade placement include the Cleveland zone, the tip-apex distance (TAD), the calcar-referenced tip-apex distance (CalTAD), and the Parker's ratio. These methods all lack a direct view on blade direction. The current study proposed the axis-blade angle (ABA) to solve direction problem and investigated its clinical applicability.MethodsA retrospective study collected 156 patients between May 2014 and February 2018. The occurrence of mechanical complications was analyzed in relation to age, gender, fracture side, American Society of Anesthesiologists classification, fracture classification, reduction quality, bone quality, the Cleveland zone, the Parker's ratio, the TAD, the CalTAD, and the ABA.Results119 patients, including 25 with mechanical complications, were suitable for full analysis. In the univariate analysis, the Cleveland zone, reduction quality, the TAD, the CalTAD and the ABA were statistically associated with mechanical complications. In the multivariate analysis, reduction quality (p = 0.008) and the ABA (p < 0.001; adjusted OR 0.86;95% CI 0.77 to 0.96) showed significant results, which indicated that reduction quality and the ABA were two independent influencing factors for mechanical complications. Calculation of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve indicated that the ABA was a reliable predictor of mechanical complications at the cut-off of −10°.ConclusionsThe ABA provides instruction for the intraoperative adjustment of guide wire direction. Placing the helical blade with an ABA > −10° can effectively reduce the risk of mechanical complications.  相似文献

Advanced nanoparticle-reinforced glass fibre composites represent a promising approach to improving the service life of fatigue-loaded structures such as wind turbine rotor blades. However, processing particle-reinforced resins using advanced infusion techniques is problematic due to, for example, higher viscosity as well as filtering effects. In this work, the effects of boehmite nanoparticles on viscosity, static properties and fatigue life are investigated experimentally. Whereas rheological analysis reveals a significant increase of viscosity in the case of pristine boehmite particles, an additional taurine surface modification of the particles can effectively reduce viscosity increase. As regards mechanical properties, significant improvements of both static as well as fatigue properties are found. The addition of 15 wt.% of boehmite particles increases fatigue life by a maximum of 270% compared to the unmodified fibre-reinforced epoxy. Transmitted light-based investigation of the damage mechanisms shows delayed initiation and smaller growth rates for laminates containing boehmite particles. At the same time, the observed mechanisms and their accumulation along the relative cycle number do not change significantly. In addition, by characterising autonomous heating, the so-called Risitano fatigue limit is determined. The results reveal that with increasing particle content there is an increase in the fatigue limit.  相似文献

目的:探讨股骨近端髓内钉-螺旋刀片(PFNA)治疗股骨粗隆下间骨折(SFF)的手术方法及临床疗效。方法:2007年1月~2009年10月收治56例SFF患者,其中男34例,女22例:年龄33~80岁,平均62.5岁,依据Seinsheimer分型:IIB型5例,IIC型4例,IIIA型12例,IIIB型9例,IV型15例,V型11例;均采用PFNA技术进行固定。结果:56例随访12个月~30个月,平均20个月,X线片观察骨折愈合时间14周(12~16周)。按照Kuderna改良Merle D'Aubinne评分标准,优25例,良27例,可3例,差1例,优良率为92.86%。无感染、内固定失效、畸形愈合及股骨头缺血性坏死等并发症。结论:PFNA技术是治疗SFF的一种有效方法,具有微创,操作简捷,固定可靠、并发症少、骨折愈合率高等优点。  相似文献

The cooling technology of hot turbine components has been a subject of continuous improvement for decades. In high-pressure turbine blades, the regions most affected by the excessive corrosion are the leading and trailing edges. In addition, high Kt regions at the hot gas path are exposed to cracking due to the low and high cycle fatigue failure modes. Especially in the case of a nozzle guide vane, the ability to predict thermally driven loads is crucial to assess its life and robustness. The difficulties in measuring thermal properties in hot conditions considerably limit the number of experimental results available in the literature. One of the most popular test cases is a NASA C3X vane, but coolant temperature is not explicitly revealed in the test report. As a result of that, numerous scientific works validated against that vane are potentially inconsistent. To address that ambiguity, the presented work was performed on a fully structural and a very fine mesh assuming room inlet temperature on every cooling channel. Special attention was paid to the options of the kω SST (shear-stress transport) viscosity model, such as Viscous heating (VH), Curvature correction (CC), Production Kato-Launder (KT), and Production limiter (PL). The strongest impact was from the Viscous heating, as it increases local vane temperature by as much as 40 deg. The significance of turbulent Prandtl number impact was also investigated. The default option used in the commercial CFD code is set to 0.85. Presented study modifies that value using equations proposed by Wassel/Catton and Kays/Crawford. Additionally, the comparison between four, two, and one-equation viscosity models was performed.  相似文献

目的比较不同预处理方法对隔夜骨科电动摆锯的清洗效果。方法选取2019年4至6月我院回收的80把电动摆锯作为研究对象,按简单随机法分为对照组(40把,传统预处理方法)与实验组(40把,改良预处理方法)。比较两组电动摆锯的预处理情况、清洗消耗时间及清洗效果。结果实验组明显血污、干涸血污的把数少于对照组(P<0.05);实验组的清洗消耗时间优于对照组(P<0.05)。两组经目测检查均清洗合格,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);潜血试验显示,两组摆锯外表面的清洗合格率比较,差异不显著(P>0.05);实验组摆锯内腔缝隙的清洗合格率高于对照组(P<0.05)。结论采用改良预处理方法对送回消毒供应中心的电动摆锯进行处理,可减少清洗消耗时间,提高清洗质量。  相似文献

IntroductionImplant cut-out remains a common cause of cephalomedullary nail (CMN) failure and patient morbidity following surgical treatment of intertrochanteric femur fractures. Recent studies have suggested an increased rate of CMN cut-out with helical blades as opposed to lag screws. We compared rates of overall cut-out between helical blades and lag screws and used bivariate and multivariate analysis to determine the role of proximal fixation method among other variables on risk for cut-out. Subgroup analysis was performed on the basis of failure mechanism; superior migration (Fig. 2) versus medial perforation (Fig. 3).MethodsThree-hundred and thirteen patient charts were retrospectively reviewed over an 8-year period; 245 patients were treated with helical blades and 68 with lag screws. Radiographs were reviewed for fracture pattern, Tip-Apex Distance (TAD), Parker’s Ratio (PR) and reduction quality. Rate of implant cut-out was compared between groups and multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the ability of several independent variables to predict implant cut-out.ResultsTwenty cut-outs occurred; 15 with helical blades and 5 with lag screws. No difference in the rate of cut-out was observed between the two groups (p = 0.45). Poor fracture reduction was found to be a significant predictor of implant failure via bivariate and multiple logistic regression analysis (p = <0.01, OR 23.573). Helical blade fixation, fracture instability, TAD ≥ 25, and PR ≥ 0.45 were not predictive of implant cut-out during multivariate analysis. Similarly, patient smoking status and surgeon trauma fellowship training did not significantly increase the odds of implant cut-out. Failure by medial perforation occurred in 12 instances, all involving helical blades. Failure by superior migration occurred at a significantly higher rate with lag screws than helical blades (p = 0.02).ConclusionCMN cutout is likely multifactorial. A direct association between helical blade fixation and implant cut-out was not observed in our study. Amongst modifiable risk factors for implant failure, poorer fracture reduction was predictive of failure by cut-out. Subgroup analysis highlights differing modes of failure between lag screws and helical blades which warrants further investigation. Ideal TAD during helical blade fixation remains unknown.  相似文献

We have analyzed at high resolution the neuroanatomical connections of the juxtaparaventricular region of the lateral hypothalamic area (LHAjp); as a control and in comparison to this, we also performed a preliminary analysis of a nearby LHA region that is dorsal to the fornix, namely the LHA suprafornical region (LHAs). The connections of these LHA regions were revealed with a coinjection tract-tracing technique involving a retrograde (cholera toxin B subunit) and anterograde (Phaseolus vulgaris leucoagglutinin) tracer. The LHAjp and LHAs together connect with almost every major division of the cerebrum and cerebrospinal trunk, but their connection profiles are markedly different and distinct. In simple terms, the connections of the LHAjp indicate a possible primary role in the modulation of defensive behavior; for the LHAs, a role in the modulation of ingestive behavior is suggested. However, the relation of the LHAjp and LHAs to potential modulation of these behaviors, as indicated by their neuroanatomical connections, appears to be highly integrative as it includes each of the major functional divisions of the nervous system that together determine behavior, i.e., cognitive, state, sensory, and motor. Furthermore, although a primary role is indicated for each region with respect to a particular mode of behavior, intermode modulation of behavior is also indicated. In summary, the extrinsic connections of the LHAjp and LHAs (so far as we have described them) suggest that these regions have a profoundly integrative role in which they may participate in the orchestrated modulation of elaborate behavioral repertoires.  相似文献

目的 了解某风力发电桨叶制造企业职业病危害现状.方法 采取职业流行病学方法对风力发电桨叶制造企业进行职业病危害现状调查.结果 风力发电桨叶制造企业主要的职业病危害因素为玻璃钢粉尘、噪声及苯、丙酮等化学物质,检测合格率分别为80%、80%、100%、100%.职工健康检查发现听力异常3例,血常规异常2例,皮炎7例,其他异常24例.结论 风力发电桨叶制造企业存在多种职业病危害因素,该企业的职业病危害控制措施是可行的,但应加强管理,切实做好职业病预防工作.  相似文献
