As a consequence of the degeneration and replacement of the jaw muscle fibers in the leopard frog, Rana pipiens, trigeminal motoneurons innervate different targets before and after metamorphosis. This investigation examined the morphological correlates of the reassignment of trigeminal motoneurons during the initial phases of myofiber turnover. Specifically, silver-cholinesterase histochemistry and electron microscopy were used to 1) identify the fate of motor axons within the neuromuscular junctions (NMJs) applied to degenerating larval myofibers and 2) to determine the origin(s) of the motor axons that innervate the postmetamorphic muscle fibers of the jaw. The results demonstrate that the NMJs are retained on larval myofibers throughout their degeneration and are readily identifiable on the residual larval basal laminae that remain after involution of the sarcoplasm. Light and electron microscopic observations provide evidence that both pre- and post-synaptic elements are present on the degenerating fibers. Furthermore, morphometric analyses indicate that the preponderance (86%) of motor axons supplying adult muscle fibers originates from the larval NMJs. This condition suggests that metamorphic redeployment of trigeminal motoneurons occurs through the resumption of growth at the axon terminal supplying larval muscle rather than through the proximal collateralization of these axons and resorption of larval terminals.  相似文献

The time to loss of the adductor pollicis muscle response to ulnar nerve stimulation at 1 Hz (twitch) after succinylcholine, 1.5 mg.kg-1 intravenously (IV), or vecuronium, 0.1 mg.kg-1 (IV), administration was assessed visually in 134 children, age 2-13 yr, during clinically determined, deep halothane, enflurane and isoflurane anaesthesia. The overall time to twitch ablation and duration of succinylcholine's action is in agreement with published times obtained under controlled experimental conditions; the onset time following vecuronium is comparable to those observed during a similar anaesthetic background measured under controlled experimental conditions. Twitch ablation after succinylcholine was achieved in half the time needed following vecuronium regardless of anaesthetic agent. Succinylcholine's and vecuronium's onset time as well as succinylcholine's duration is adequately assessed by the outlined, simple clinical means. The choice of inhalation agent does not affect the time to visible twitch ablation in a clinically relevant manner; nor does it make an appreciable difference, in clinical terms, in succinylcholine's duration of action.  相似文献

Beta-adrenergic blockade has been a mainstay in the treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction for nearly two decades. Clearly, it has withstood the test of time. The emergence of thrombolytic therapy, however, has shifted the medical community's focus, raising questions as to the benefit of beta-adrenergic blockade. Although further investigation is warranted, the available evidence suggests that beta blockers can be given safely to selected patients following coronary thrombolysis, particularly in the absence of moderate to severe left ventricular dysfunction.  相似文献

We consider a class of Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with delays. We prove the existence and global asymptotic stability of an equilibrium point and estimate the region of existence. Furthermore, we show that the trajectories of the neural networks with positive initial data will stay in the positive region if the amplification function satisfies a divergent condition. We also establish the existence of a globally attracting compact set for more general networks. We estimate this compact set explicitly in terms of the network parameters from physiological and biological models. Our results can be applied to neural networks with a wide range of activation functions which are neither bounded nor globally Lipschitz continuous such as the Lotka–Volterra model. 目的:了解脑源性神经营养因子(Brain-derived neurotrophic factor,BDNF)基因修饰神经干细胞移植到大鼠脊髓损伤处后的基因表达变化,为脊髓损伤修复提供基础研究资料。方法:大鼠随机分为4组:正常对照组,手术对照组,神经干细胞(Neural stem cells,NSCs)移植组,BDNF-NSCs移植组,各组分4个时相点(7d、1个月、2个月、3个月),利用细胞移植、X-gal组化、免疫组化、原位杂交等方法,观察了移植处细胞的标记基因(LacZ)表达和BDNF、胶质纤维酸性蛋白(GFAP)、神经丝-200(NF-200)的表达。结果:大鼠脊髓损伤移植处细胞中,有标记基因阳性细胞,BDNF强烈表达,尤其是BDNF-NSCs移植组的移植后1周和1个月时。各组各时相点均有GFAP和NF-200免疫反应阳性细胞和纤维。结论:BDNF基因修饰神经干细胞能在脊髓损伤移植处存活,强烈表达BDNF,BDNF基因修饰神经干细胞可以作为脊髓损伤修复的移植材料。  相似文献

BACKGROUND: To compare the efficacy of orchiectomy alone and orchiectomy plus flutamide in treating patients with advanced carcinoma prostate. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was initiated on 1 July 1997 and closed after enrolling 100 patients on 30 June 2000. Patients were prospectively randomized to orchiectomy alone (O) and orchiectomy plus flutamide (OF). A complete response (CR) was defined as the normalization of bone scans and serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels returning to normal (< 4 ng/mL). A partial response (PR) was defined as a 50% reduction in metastasis mass compared to the initial study or a decrease in the PSA level of 50% of the initial value. Progressive disease (PD) was defined as the development of any new hot spot on bone scan or any increase in previously existing PSA level by 25%. RESULTS: A total of 100 patients were entered in the study. The maximum percentage change in PSA levels in both groups was found in the first 3 months after orchiectomy, that is, 95% and 97% for the O and OF groups, respectively. In more than 80% of the patients this decrease in PSA was maintained for 3 years. The mean percentage change at 3 years in the O and OF groups was 70% and 75% (P = 0.95), respectively, and the overall response rate (CR + PR) was 88.50% and 86.53% in the two groups, respectively (P = 0.85). The follow-up period ranged between 3 and 5 years (mean, 3.5 years). The mean time to progression was 27 and 29 months in the O and OF groups, respectively. The overall survival rate at 3 and 5 years in two treatment groups was 45.83% and 48.07%, 20.83% and 23.07% in the O and OF groups, respectively (P = 0.75). CONCLUSIONS: Maximum percentage decrease in PSA is seen within the first 3 months of therapy. Orchiectomy alone is as effective as combination therapy in decreasing serum PSA. Overall survival at 3 and 5 years in the orchiectomy only group was as good as that of combination therapy. These data suggest that the routine addition of flutamide to orchiectomy is not advisable.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of neurokinin A (NKA) on cholinergic neural responses in human bronchus. NKA (0.1 nM) did not alter the contractile response to submaximal electrical field stimulation. However, K+ channel blockade with 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) (0.1 mM) potentiated the response to electrical field stimulation (to 182 ± 25% of control, n = 4, P < 0.05) and subsequent addition of NKA in the presence of 4-AP produced further potentiation (to 123 ± 6% of the response to 4-AP n = 4, P < 0.05). Neither 4-AP (0.01 or 0.1 mM) nor NKA in the presence of 4-AP potentiated the actions of exogenous acetylcholine but in these experiments 4-AP itself produced a marked direct contractile response. Thus NKA in the presence of K+ channel blockade potentiates cholinergic neural response in human bronchus and this occurs at a prejunctional site.  相似文献

Based on the fuzzy characteristic of the pulse state and syndromes differentiation thinking mode of TCM, an information fusing recognition method of pulse states based on SFNN (Stochastic Fuzzy Neural Network) is presented in this paper. With the learning ability in parameters and structure, SFNN fuses the measurement information of three pulse-state sensors distributed in Cun, Guan, and Chi location of body for the pulse state recognition. The experimental results show that the percentage of correct recognition with new method is higher than that by single-data recognition one, with fewer off-line train numbers.  相似文献
