The aim of the present study was to evaluate the combined application of different bioabsorbable materials for healing of residual peri‐implant defects after placement of non‐submerged implants into fresh extraction sockets. Second and third mandibular premolars were extracted from 10 Beagle dogs, the coronal part of the distal sockets were surgically enlarged and this was followed by immediate placement of specially designed hollow‐screw non‐submerged dental implants. For each animal, the coronal peri‐implant defects were further treated with one of the 4 following procedures: 1) no treatment, control site: 2) grafting with porous hydroxyapatite (HA); 3) collagen membrane tightly secured around the implant and over the defect and 4) grafting with HA covered with a collagen membrane. After 16 weeks of healing, specimens were removed from the mandibule and prepared for a histomorphometric evaluation. The bone-to-implant contact length (BIC) was measured and compared amongst the different treatment modalities. In the defect area, the irregular bone regeneration was similar between all the treatment procedures ( P >0.10). In the sites covered with a collagen membrane alone, the total BIC (47%) was greater than in control sites (28.7%. P <0.05) or sites grafted with HA (22.2%, P <0.02). Total BIC in sites treated with the HA‐membrane combination (43%) was only significantly different from sites treated with HA ( P <0.10). It is concluded that the use of bioabsorbable materials results in a limited increase of osseointegration when used in conjunction with immediate placement of non-submerged implants, although the principle of the one stage surgical approach can be maintained.  相似文献

Forty-one cases of chondrosarcoma from varying sites throughout the body, and treated exclusively by one of the authors (R. L. H.) from 1972 to 1990 were reviewed. The symptoms, signs, location of tumours, treatment and progress are presented. Particular attention was paid to modular bone replacement techniques. Excision and reconstruction of the bone or joint were carried out in 17 femora, five tibia and six humeri. Comparison between this method of management and other techniques is discussed. Titanium and alumina prostheses for the hip, femur, tibia, shoulder and humerus have been designed by the senior author. These are both inert and modular, and have been found to be superior to other methods of treatment in both function and cosmesis. They do not possess the same potential donor infection risks and other disadvantages of allograft replacement. Immediate postoperative weight bearing and mobilization are possible with these systems. The Huckstep prostheses allow for bony in growth into their porous coated alumina sleeves, spacers and stems. In addition, the titanium alloy locking component for the femoral stems has an elasticity half that of other metal alloys and this was found to minimize stress shielding.  相似文献

In 50 partially edentulous patients, 133 (48 maxillary; 85 mandibular) Astra Tech dental implants of 2 different surface textures (machined; TiO‐blasted) were alternately installed, supporting 52 fixed partial dentures (FPDs). Before abutment connection 2 machined implants (1 mandibular; 1 maxillary) were found to be non-osseointegrated and were replaced. Another implant could not be restored due to a technical complication. Two FPDs were remade because of technical complications, both because of abutment fractures. Thus, after 2 years in function, the cumulative survival rates were 97.7% and 95.7% for implants and prostheses, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in survival rate between the 2 types of implants, 100%(TiO‐blasted) vs 95.3%(machined), P =0.24. After 2 years in function, when both jaw and type of implants were combined, the mean (SD) marginal bone loss was 0.24 (0.69) mm. No statistically significant difference in bone loss was found between the 2 tvues of implant after 2 years of loading, 0.04 (0.82) mm, P >0.30.  相似文献

Hydroxyapatite-coated and uncoated titanium screws were inserted in the rabbit tibial metaphysis and evaluated by histomorphometry after 6 months of follow-up. There was no difference in direct bone contact between the HA-coated implants and the uncoated controls. The effect of HA-coating on screw-shaped implants seems to be uncertain, in contrast to unthreaded cylindrical designs, where there is more abundant documentation in favour of HA-coated implants.  相似文献

It is now apparent that light microscopy and histochemistry failed to identify correctly the nature and composition of pigments in various gastrointestinal tract melanoses. In most instances it was thought that the pigment was melanin or a melanin-like substance. Electron microscopy (EM) and electron-probe energy dispersive x-ray analysis have rectified these errors and have shown the following: in melanosis coli the pigment granules contain lipofuscin; in melanoses ilei the pigment granules may contain either silicates and titanium or hemosiderin; and in melanosis duodeni the pigment granules contain iron sulfide. In melanosis esophagi it is not clear what the pigment is; it could be melanin or lipofuscin.  相似文献

目的评价新型生物材料纳米锶磷灰石纤维多孔钛复合材料的生物安全性。方法对纳米锶磷灰石纤维多孔钛复合材料的生物安全性进行体外评价,分别进行以下实验:急性全身毒性实验;血液相容性评价(溶血试验);热原试验;皮内刺激实验。结果纳米锶磷灰石纤维多孔钛复合材料对生物体无毒性、无致热原性、无刺激性,不引起溶血反应。结论纳米锶磷灰石纤维多孔钛复合材料具有良好的生物安全性,有望作为新型骨植入生物材料应用于临床。  相似文献

Alloys based on Ni–Ti intermetallics generally exhibit special shape memory and pseudoelastic properties, which make them desirable for use in the dental field as orthodontic wires. The possibility of nickel release from these materials is of high concern, because the allergenicity of this element. The aim of this study was to test pseudoelastic Ni–Ti wires in simulated physiological conditions, investigating the combined effect of strain and fluoridated media: the wires were examined both under strained (5% tensile strain) and unstrained conditions, in fluoridated artificial saliva at 37 °C. Real time electrochemical nickel release testing was performed using a novel application of a radiotracer based method, thin layer activation (TLA). TLA was validated, in unstrained conditions, against adsorptive stripping voltammetry methodology. Control tests were also performed in non-fluoridated artificial saliva. From our research it transpired that the corrosion behaviour of Ni–Ti alloy is highly affected by the fluoride content, showing a release of 4.79 ± 0.10 μg/cm2/day, but, differently from other biomaterials, it does not seem to be affected by elastic tensile strain. The application of the TLA method in the biomedical field appears a suitable technique to monitor in real time the corrosion behaviour of biomedical devices.  相似文献

BackgroundLighter weight and lower modulus are potential advantages of titanium (Ti) implants over cobalt chrome (CoCr) implants in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study was conducted to determine whether Ti implants in TKA resulted in better clinical outcomes and radiologic results.MethodsOne hundred and eight patients (216 knees) with knee arthritis warranting bilateral primary TKA were randomly allocated to undergo Ti rotating-platform TKA in one knee and CoCr rotating-platform TKA in the contralateral knee. The mean follow-up period was 5.3 years (range, 1-7 years). The weight of Ti implants was one-third lighter than that of CoCr implants (133.9 g vs 390.1 g, P < .01). Clinical outcomes were evaluated using clinical scores, patient preferences (lightness, comfort, naturalness, and satisfaction), gait analysis (kinetic and kinematic data), range of motion, and degree of pain. Radiologic results were evaluated based on the radiolucent line (RLL), degree of medial tibial bone loss, and loosening as seen on X-ray.ResultsNo significant differences were observed in clinical scores or patient preference. Regarding implant weight, approximately 70% of patients did not perceive the Ti implant as lighter. No significant differences were observed in gait analysis, range of motion, or degree of pain. The RLL was seen in 9% of the Ti implant group and 19% of the CoCr implant group.ConclusionThe lighter Ti implant did not show any clinical benefit over CoCr implants. The lightness of the Ti implant is not sufficient to matter or be noticeable. 目的 采用廉价的CaCO_3和CaHPO_4·2H_2O作为原料,在激光的作用下通过反应制备HA生物陶瓷涂层。方法 利用X射线衍射仪和电子探针分析仪对涂层进行相分析、组织观察和成分分析。结果CaCO_3和CaHPO_4·2H_2O按20:80的质量比混合时,在功率为600W、扫描速度为3.5mm/s的激光作用下可一步合成钙磷生物陶瓷涂层。结论 在一定实验条件下,CaCO_3和CaHPO_4·2H_2O可合成组织致密、结合状态良好的钙磷生物陶瓷涂层。  相似文献
