Children of young and socially disadvantaged parents are more likely to experience adverse outcomes. In response to this, a unique young families’ project in Swansea, UK, was created, which drew together a team of multi-agency professionals, to support people aged 16–24 from 17 weeks of pregnancy throughout 1,001 days of the child's life. The aim of the JIGSO (the Welsh word for Jigsaw) project is for young people to reach their potential as parents and to break the cycle of health and social inequality. This evaluation analysed routinely collected data held by the project from January 2017 to December 2018 exploring health and social outcomes, including smoking and alcohol use in pregnancy, breastfeeding, maternal diet and social services outcomes. Outcomes were compared to local and national averages, where available. Data relating to parenting knowledge and skills were available via records of 10-point Likert scales, one collected at the start of the JIGSO involvement and one around 4–6 months later. Findings showed higher than average levels of breastfeeding initiation and lower smoking and alcohol use in pregnancy. Parents also reported enhanced knowledge and confidence in their child care skills, as well as improved family relationships. Parents with high levels of engagement with JIGSO also appeared to have positive outcomes with Social Services (their child's name was removed from child protection register or their case was closed to social services). This was a post-hoc evaluation, not an intervention study or trial, and thus findings must be interpreted with caution. Despite this, the findings are promising and more prospective research exploring similar services is required.  相似文献

本实验观察了22~24月龄老年大鼠和5~6月龄青年大鼠在Morris水迷宫中的学习记忆行为,并用定量分析方法比较两组动物在定位航行及空间搜索试验中的学习记忆,结果表明老年大鼠的寻找平台潜伏期明显延长,而其跨平台次数及在平台象限的游泳路线长度并未减少.提示24月龄老年大鼠获取学习记忆的能力受损伤而保持记忆的能力维持正常,这可能与二种功能衰老的不同速度及不同神经基础有关.  相似文献

Exposing individuals to an isolated component (a prime) of a prior event alleviates its forgetting. Two experiments with 120 human infants between 3 and 18 months of age determined the minimum duration of a prime that can reactivate a forgotten memory and how long the reactivated memory persists. Infants learned an operant task, forgot it, were exposed to the prime, and later were tested for renewed retention. In Experiment 1, the minimum duration of an effective prime decreased logarithmically with age, but was always longer than the duration of a mere glance. In Experiment 2, the reactivated memory was forgotten twice as fast after a minimum-duration prime as after a full-length one, irrespective of priming delay and infant age. These data reveal that the minimum effective prime duration psychophysically equates the accessibility of forgotten memories. We conclude that priming is perceptually based with effects that are organized on a ratio (log) scale.  相似文献

To clarify the role of endogenous histamine in learning and memory, the effect of -fluoromethylhistidine on active avoidance response in rats was studied. -Fluoromethylhistidine (20–100 mg/kg or 10–50 µg) significantly (P<0.05 orP<0.01) prolonged the response latency in active avoidance response when administered by either intraperitoneal or intracerebroventricular injection. These effects were dose-related and long lasting. A prolongation of the response latency induced by an intraperitoneal injection of -fluoromethylhistidine (100 mg/kg) was antagonized by intracerebroventricular injection of histamine (10 and 20 ng) in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, the acquisition of this response was retarded by a consecutive intracerebroventricular injection of -fluoromethylhistidine (50 µg), whereas histamine (100 ng) facilitated the response acquisition when administered by the same route. Both intraperitoneal (100 mg/kg) and intracerebroventricular injection of -fluoromethylhistidine (50 µg) significantly (P<0.05 orP<0.01) decreased the brain histamine content, especially in the hippocampus and hypothalamus. When -fluoromethylhistidine (50 µg) was injected intracerebroventricularly, there is a high correlation between a prolongation of the response latency and a decrease in histamine content of these brain areas. Based on these findings, it was concluded that an intimate relation may exist between a prolongation of response latency in the active avoidance response and a decrease in the brain histamine content; endogenous histamine may play an important role in learning and memory recollection in rats.  相似文献

Several experiments were conducted to study the effects of the noncompetitive N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist, MK-801, on learning and memory in the rat. Rats displayed impaired performance on several sensorimotor tests and appeared grossly intoxicated when treated IP with 0.2 mg/kg MK-801, but not when treated with lower doses (0.05 or 0.1 mg/kg). Postacquisition performance on two spatial learning tasks involving working memory protocols (reinforced alternation and radial arm maze) was impaired by MK-801 at intoxicating doses (0.2 mg/kg) but not at lower doses (0.05 or 0.1 mg/kg). Using a position habit reversal task, we found that rats could learn to reverse a position habit while under the influence of a nonintoxicating dose of MK-801 (0.1 mg/kg), but when tested on the following day performed as if they did not recall what they had learned. Thus, acute administration of a nonintoxicating dose of MK-801 disrupts the retention of new information learned under the influence of the drug but does not interfere with the performance of tasks that are well learned before the drug is administered. Whether the performance deficits on the spatial learning tasks observed only following intoxicating doses of MK-801 reflect an effect on memory is not clear.  相似文献

目的 分析学习记忆动物行为模型实验的时反应量 效关系指标。方法 应用Y型迷宫刺激器对大鼠进行空间学习记忆的行为模型实验。结果 测得大龄组 (约 12月 )和小龄组 (<4月 )大鼠达到学会标准前所需的刺激次数分别为 (32 .6 2± 2 0 .5 9)次 (n =2 1)和 (2 0 .6 2± 14.2 5 )次 (n =2 1,P <0 .0 5 ) ,学会时 9次正确反应的潜伏期分别为 (7.44± 2 .89)s和 (6 .93± 1.49)s(P >0 .0 5 ) ,并观察到刺激次数与逃避到安全区的潜伏期呈类双曲线型时反应量 效关系、刺激次数与移动正确率呈非线性正变关系。结论 迷宫学习模型实验存在特殊类型的时反应量 效关系。  相似文献

目的 :探讨不同压力的高压氧处理后 ,幼龄小鼠对新异环境的探究行为和自发活动的变化以及分辨学习的影响。方法 :用开场行为模型和Y 迷宫分辨学习模型观察小鼠的各项行为指标。结果 :与对照相比 ,吸 10 1 3kPa高压氧的幼龄小鼠学习记忆能力明显提高 ;吸 2 5 3 3kPa高压氧的幼龄小鼠学习记忆能力无明显变化 ,但其在新异环境中的自发行为明显减少。结论 :实验结果提示 :慢性吸入 10 1 3kPa高压氧有益于幼龄小鼠脑的生长发育 ,增强脑功能活动 ,但其作用机制还有待于进一步研究  相似文献

目的 研究吗啡成瘾对大鼠及小鼠学习与记忆能力的影响。方法 将24只SD大鼠昆明小鼠分别随机分成3组;即吗啡成瘾组、吗啡成瘾后戒断组和对照组。然后分组对动物进行Morris水迷宫训练。结果(1)在Morris水迷宫掩蔽平台次训练中,吗啡成瘾组动物(大鼠和小鼠)的逃避潜伏期对与对照组及吗啡戒断组动物相比,均明显延长(P<0.01);(2)对照组动物的逃避潜伏期最短;(3)在Morris水迷宫可见平台学习中,无论是大鼠还是小鼠,三组动物逃避潜伏期均随着学习训练逐渐缩短,无明显组间差别(P>0.05)。结论 吗啡成瘾可明显损害动物的学习记忆能力。  相似文献

目的观察β-淀粉样蛋白(β-amyloid,Aβ)、D-半乳糖及两种药物联合使用时对大鼠学习记忆和大脑皮层胆碱酯酶活性的影响.方法D-半乳糖腹腔注射[50mg/(kg@d)],连续6周.在腹腔注射的第4周末,双侧海马内各注射Aβ1μl(含量为4μg).手术后2周,对各组大鼠进行开场行为、Y-型迷宫、被动回避测试及大脑皮层胆碱酯酶活性的测定.结果与对照组相比,D-半乳糖组、Aβ组、D-半乳糖加Aβ组大鼠的自主行为、学习记忆能力和大脑皮层胆碱酯酶的活性明显下降,尤其D-半乳糖加Aβ组明显.结论D-半乳糖、Aβ对大鼠的行为及中枢胆碱能系统均有明显抑制作用,二者联合作用时能产生更强的作用.  相似文献

Parasitic nematodes infect more than 1 billion people in the global south. The development of effective antihelminthic vaccines is a crucial tool for their future elimination. Protective immune responses to nematodes depend on Gata3+ Th2 cells, which can also be induced by nematode-released products. Whether these nematode products induce antigen-specific long-lived memory T cells and thereby confer protection against a challenge infection is not known yet. Hence, we set out to characterize the formation of memory Th2 cells induced by immunization with Heligmosomoides polygyrus excretory-secretory (HES) products, infection-induced versus immunization-induced recall responses to a challenge infection, and whether HES-induced memory T cells show protective properties following adoptive transfer. Our results show that 8 weeks postimmunization, HES induces long-lived functional memory Th2 cells at the site of immunization in the peritoneal cavity. Following a H. polygyrus challenge infection, HES-immunized mice display MHC-II-dependent antigen-specific Th2 cytokine responses in the gut-draining lymph nodes, comparable to those induced by a prior natural infection. Moreover, adoptive transfer of sorted memory CD4+ T cells from HES-immunized donors reduces female worm fecundity following a challenge H. polygyrus infection in recipient mice, highlighting a protective role for immunization-induced memory T cells.  相似文献
