The activity of single neurons in the superior colliculus was recorded while a rhesus monkey made arm movements to visual targets located on a screen in front of him. It was found that the activity of a subpopulation of cells was clearly related to these arm movements. The neurons began to discharge either with the onset of the movement, during the movement period, or well before the onset of electromyogram (EMG) activity and movement, and could be active for the entire duration of EMG activity. While the discharge pattern of some of these'reach'neurons was not different for movements to different target positions, other cells showed graded changes in activity depending on the direction of movement. The peak discharge rate could rise to > 100 impulses/s. Some units received somatosensory input; other reach cells exhibited a visual response and/or presaccadic activity. It is likely that the primate superior colliculus is not only involved in the initiation and control of orientating movements of the eyes but also in reaching movements of the arms. 相似文献

Neuronal regulation of smooth muscle tone in the female pig urethra has mainly been studied in vitro using electrical field
stimulation (EFS) of nerves. Excitatory control is considered to be exerted by released noradrenaline, whereas inhibitory
control is non-adrenergic non-cholinergic (NANC), and mediated by nitric oxide (NO), and an as yet unidentified agent. We
investigated the functional and morphological effects of α-latrotoxin (αLTX), a spider neurotoxin believed to cause massive
release of vesicle-stored neurotransmitters, on spontaneously developed urethral smooth muscle tone. The effects were compared
to those of EFS and high potassium. In the presence of the NO-synthesis inhibitor Nω-nitro-L-arginine (L-NOARG: 0.3 mM) both αLTX and EFS evoked contractions. After treatment with scopolamine and phentolamine,
no contraction was observed, and under these conditions αLTX and EFS induced relaxation. At low frequencies (<12 Hz), the
EFS-induced relaxations were rapid, whereas at higher frequencies (>12 Hz), they were biphasic, consisting of a rapid first
phase followed by a more long-lasting second phase. L-NOARG abolished the relaxations at low frequencies, as well as the first
phase of the biphasic relaxation. The second phase was not affected by treatment with L-NOARG, but 0.1 μM ω-conotoxin GVIA,
blocker of N-type voltage-operated calcium- channels (VOCCs), markedly reduced or abolished the response. In the presence
of L-NOARG or ω-conotoxin GVIA, the αLTX-induced relaxation was significantly decreased, and the combination of L-NOARG and
ω-conotoxin GVIA further reduced or abolished the relaxation. In preparationstreated with tetrodotoxin or scorpion venom,
believed to inactivate nerves by acting on sodium channels, αLTX and EFS had no effects. αLTX-induced relaxation was not associated
with changes in cyclic GMP or cyclic AMP content. High (80 mM) potassium solution induced a triphasic response of the preparation.
A transient relaxation was followed by a restoration of tone, and then by a persistent relaxation. The persistent relaxation
was slightly reduced by scorpion venom or L-NOARG, but reduced by 50% by a combination of L-NOARG and ω-conotoxin GVIA. Ultrastructural
analysis of the urethral circular smooth muscle layer revealed a moderate amount of nerve profiles supplying the smooth muscle.
In control preparations, the nerve profiles contained both small synaptic vesicles and large dense core vesicles. αLTX caused
a major loss of both types of vesicle. The present data suggest that αLTX has the ability to release not only adrenergic and
cholinergic transmitters, but also NANC mediators of relaxation, including NO, from nerve terminals in the urethra.

OBJECTIVE: We investigate the synaptic factor for the recovery function of evoked responses using a repetitive stimulation technique. METHODS: Somatosensory evoked cortical magnetic field (SEF) was recorded following stimulation of the median nerve using single to 6-train stimulation in 8 healthy subjects. The SEF responses after each stimulus in the train stimulation were extracted by subtraction of the waveforms. RESULTS: An attenuation of the SEF components was recognized after the second of the stimuli, but there was no significant attenuation with the third or later stimulations. The root mean square (RMS) of the 1M (peak latency at 20 ms after stimulation) and 4M (70 ms) components were smaller than that of the single stimulation during the train stimulation, while the 2M (30 ms) and 3M (45 ms) components were not attenuated, but the 3M was facilitated at the fourth to sixth stimulation. CONCLUSION: The synaptic factor was not responsible for the attenuation of the SEF components during repetitive stimulation in healthy subjects. The SEF change disclosed a functional difference among the SEF components during the train stimulation, especially among the later components. 相似文献

Pattern visual, brainstem auditory, and somatosensory evoked potential (EP) studies were performed on 26 chloralkali workers. The intensity of mercury vapor exposure in these workers was estimated from the individual working history. Mercury levels in blood, urine, and hair were determined with atomic absorption spectrometry. The EP findings were compared with those from individually matched normal subjects. In brainstem auditory and somatosensory EP studies, prolonged neural conduction times in the central nervous system (CNS) were found in workers exposed to mercury vapor. In the pattern visual EP study, mercury workers had higher interpeak amplitudes. Findings of this study suggested that chronic exposure to mercury vapor would affect the CNS functions. A multimodality EP study is a useful adjunct in evaluation of chronic mercury neurotoxicity, especially in an epidemiological study. 相似文献

目的 探讨LASIK手术中出现游离瓣的原因及处理方法。方法 对1500例(2900眼)LASIK手术中出现的9例(9眼)游离瓣进行随访观察。结果 术后1天,9例(9眼)角膜瓣复位良好,边缘整齐,瓣下干净。术后3天取出角膜接触镜,其中7眼视力≥1.0,2眼视力≥0.6。1月视力均达到最佳矫正视力,6月~1年视力稳定。结论LASIK手术中出现游离瓣只要及时正确处理,仍能获得最佳矫正视力。 相似文献

The literature suggests that visual field defects may be more common in people who experience migraine. The Humphrey frequency doubling (FDT) visual field instrument selectively examines the magnocellular visual pathway, but has not previously been used to investigate visual function in migraine. In a masked controlled study we compared Humphrey FDT and Humphrey Swedish Interactive Threshold Algorithm fields of 25 migraine sufferers with 25 age- and gender-matched controls. Although both mean deviation and pattern standard deviation were a little worse in the migraine group, these differences did not reach statistical significance. There were no inter-eye visual field differences in the migraine group compared with controls. Comparing the mean of all the contrast thresholds in each hemisphere, there were no more inter-hemifield visual field differences in the migraine group compared with controls. There was no significant difference between the migraine and control groups in intra-ocular pressures. The visual field parameters were not correlated with the interval since the last migraine headache, the severity of migraine headache, the duration of migraine headache or the number of migraine headaches per annum. In our data, there was no evidence of visual field deficits, a magnocellular deficit, or indications of glaucomatous pathology. 相似文献

Background: People with abnormal colour vision often report difficulty seeing coloured berries and flowers in foliage, which suggests they will have a diminished capacity for visual search when target objects are marked out by colour. There is very little experimental evidence of the effect of abnormal colour vision on visual search and none relating to search for objects in natural foliage. Method: We showed 79 subjects with abnormal colour vision (seven protanopes, 10 deuteranopes, 16 protanomals and 46 deuteranomals) and 20 subjects with normal colour vision photographs of natural scenes and asked them to locate clumps of red berries, to trace the length of a red string on grass and to name the season depicted in a photograph taken in the Autumn and the same scene photographed in the Summer. Colour vision was assessed using the Ishihara, the Medmont C100, the Farnsworth D15, the Richmond HRR and the Nagel anomaloscope. Results: All the subjects with abnormal colour vision located fewer clumps of red berries than those with normal colour vision. The subjects who failed the Farnsworth D15 performed significantly worse than those who passed but the distribution of scores in the two groups overlaps. The majority of subjects with abnormal colour vision could not trace the full length of the string: only 38 per cent of anomalous trichromats who passed the Farnsworth D15 test and three per cent of those who failed it were able to trace the full length of the string. Fifty‐five per cent of those classed as having a mild deficiency by the HRR test could trace the whole string. Most dichromats were unable to identify the Autumn season and those who did may have been assisted by guessing. Most (94 per cent) of those who passed the Farnsworth D15 test and all those classified as having a ‘mild’ deficiency by the HRR test could identify the season. Conclusions: All people with abnormal colour vision, even those with a very mild deficiency, have some degree of impairment of their ability to see coloured objects in natural surroundings. A pass at the Farnsworth D15 test or a ‘mild’ classification with the Richmond HRR test identifies those likely to have the least problems with visual search and identification tasks. ①目的 探讨视神经动脉起源、数目、分布及相关动脉的病理变化,为视神经因缺血所致视野缺损提供形态学依据。②方法 在体视显微镜扣手术显微镜下对100侧成人脑标本观察视神经动脉来源、数目和分布,对其中年龄50-70岁60侧脑标本的视神经和相关动脉进行病理切片观察。③结果 视神经动脉主要来源于颈内动脉、大脑前动脉争前交通动脉。其中单来源3侧(3%),双来源68侧(68%),3来源29侧(29%)。病理切片观察动脉管壁有粥样硬化改变53侧(88.3%),其中被硬化斑块阻塞眼动脉的3侧(5、7%)。阻塞垂体上动脉的4侧(7.5%),小动脉管腔狭窄11侧(20.8%)。与小动脉阻塞相对应的视神经切片。可见有神经纤维萎缩、变性等病理改变。硬化的颈内动脉壁压迫视神经可以形成明显的压迹。④结论 50岁以上出现不明原因的周边或中央视野缺损。脑动脉硬化导致视神经供血障碍病因不能除外。 相似文献
