[Purpose] Learning of movement procedures (sequence learning) is essential in physical therapy. Studies have shown that sequence-specific learning may be integrated from an early stage. This study examines the effect of an interference task on the retention of sequence-specific learning. [Participants and Methods] Young adults were randomly divided into a control group and an interference task group, and two experiments were performed. In each experiment, the control group practiced task A in both the acquisition phase and the retention phase four to five hours later. The Interference group practiced task A in the acquisition phase followed by task B, which is similar to the interference task, and then performed task A in the retention phase four to five hours later. In Experiment 2, the amount of practice for task A in the practice phase was 25% of that in Experiment 1. [Results] Sequence-specific learning occurred in the early stages of practice. In particular, the performance of Experiment 1 reached the ceiling. The results of the retention test showed no significant interference effect due to similar tasks. [Conclusion] Implicit sequence-specific learning stabilizes performance early and is not affected by interference tasks.  相似文献

One new tradition that has emerged from early research on autonomous robots is embodied cognitive science. This paper describes the relationship between embodied cognitive science and a related tradition, synthetic psychology. It is argued that while both are synthetic, embodied cognitive science is antirepresentational while synthetic psychology still appeals to representations. It is further argued that modern connectionism offers a medium for conducting synthetic psychology, provided that researchers analyze the internal representations that their networks develop. The paper then provides a detailed example of the synthetic approach by showing how the construction (and subsequent analysis) of a connectionist network can be used to contribute to a theory of how humans solve Piaget's classic balance scale task.  相似文献

BackgroundAlthough walking without vision seems to carry a high cognitive cost, few studies have measured the cognitive load involved in this activity in blind people. The aim of this study was to assess the cognitive load of walking in blind people, using gait analysis, a dual task paradigm and a subjective assessment of cognitive load.MethodsIn a quantitative quasi-experimental design, 25 blind adults walked 40 meters. In one trial, participants walked normally (control condition). In another, they walked while performing an auditory simple reaction time task, and in the third trial they walked, performed the simple reaction time task and avoided obstacles. In addition to the simple reaction time task performance, walking speed was recorded, and participants provided a subjective assessment of cognitive load after each trial. Performance of participants aged less than 60 years were compared with those aged over than 60 years.ResultsWalking significantly reduced performance of the simple reaction time task; carrying out the simple reaction time task while walking significantly reduced walking performance and increased the subjective assessment of cognitive load; and simple reaction time task performance decreased and subjective assessment increased when obstacles were present. Few significant age effects were found.SignificanceWalking without vision involves a cognitive load that increases when the environment becomes complex. Each of the three methods used is relevant when assessing the cognitive load involved in walking in blind people, and could be useful in rehabilitation intervention. The results obtained allowed recommendations to be suggested for the design of technological mobility devices.  相似文献

This study examined the relationship between muscle activity and the increased pupillary dilation observed during cognitive tasks when S is required to indicate task completion. Pupillary and EMG activity were monitored while Ss generated images to words. In two groups, Ss indicated completion of the task either by pressing a key or by releasing it. In two other groups Ss made a key press response that was unrelated to the cognitive task. No key press was required of a fifth group. Results indicated some apparent effect of muscle activity on pupil size during the imagery task and the findings were discussed in relation to other variables affecting pupillary activity.  相似文献

采用避暗回避反应实验和免疫细胞化学相结合的方法,选用5个实验组(即:空白对照组、实验对照组、假训练组、训练组和记忆唤醒组),对不同月龄大鼠背海马结构中的c-Fos表达进行了观察。结果发现:老年大鼠在避暗回避训练中,探索次数多于青年和成年大鼠,且滞留时间明显缩短;成年和老年大鼠在训练、假训练和记忆唤醒后,背海马内c-Fos的表达明显低于青年组大鼠,以训练组最为显著。该结果一方面表明随年龄的增长,海马神经元对应激和学习记忆尤其是后者的反应性降低;另一方面也提示成年和老年组大鼠背海马区神经元可能有丢失现象。  相似文献

The behavioral, neurochemical and histological changes of rats subjected to 3 days treatment with intracerebroventricular infusion of beta-amyloid peptides(Abeta)(1-42) were investigated 20 days and 80 days after the surgery. Abeta(1-42) produced a dose-dependent and a time-dependent impairment in the spontaneous alternation performance in the Y-maze (spatial working memory), place navigation task in a water maze (spatial reference memory) and passive avoidance retention (non-spatial long-term memory) at doses of 10 and 20 microg/rat. The learning impairments were more severe at 80 days than 20 days after infusion of Abeta(1-42). At 25 days after the infusion, a significant decrease in hemicholinium-3 (HC-3) binding was observed only in the hippocampus, although choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) activity was unchanged in the brain regions tested as compared with the vehicle (Abeta(40-1)) treatment. In contrast, the reduction in ChAT activity 85 days after Abeta(1-42) infusion was significant in hippocampus and striatum. HC-3 binding was also significantly decreased in the posterior cortex, hippocampus and striatum. In the histological analysis, brain atrophy was observed inasmuch as ventricular enlargement and neuronal damage in the CA1 area of the hippocampus were seen 85 days after Abeta(1-42) infusion. These results suggest that the rats subjected to intracerebroventricular infusion of Abeta(1-42) suffered from progressive brain dysfunction, and could be useful as an animal model for evaluating the developmental processes at the early and/or middle stage of Alzheimer's-type dementia.  相似文献
