Addiction and trance therapy – The other side of the mirror

This clinical study presents compulsive eating disorders as a drug problem and studies the very specific body energy structure underlying addiction. It explores how trance as a body psychotherapy helps therapy and recovery bypassing the structure's inherent defence mechanisms. Although very confronting for these patients, it re-anchors ego consciousness in a body reality beyond body image. Learning to let go, exploring trance states becomes a path to a new sense of identity. Surrendering to life's forceful energy offers re-empowerment, a counter measure to the despair hidden in inner wounds. Instead of going against the fear of collapse, this approach explores the terror buried there and allows for the release and re-appropriation of difficult feelings and emotions. Re-building from there is like cleaning a deep injury and healing the body mind split. The author examined how body psychotherapy facilitates a structural inversion of the addictive pleasure syndrome.
