Facial clefts are among the most common congenital defects. Ultrasound (US) imaging of secondary fetal palate, especially the detection of isolated defects, remains challenging. Currently described two‐dimensional (2D) and three‐dimensional methods are technically demanding and impractical for application during routine fetal anatomy evaluation. As an adjunct method, magnetic resonance imaging can provide additional information but has its limitations. We present a novel 2D US approach using axial and sagittal planes to evaluate the fetal palate and demonstrate the main differences between an intact palate, isolated cleft palate, and a cleft lip with cleft palate.  相似文献

After reviewing the diagnosis and treatment process of a patient with active cancer who experienced wake-up stroke, we have summarized the clinical manifestations, laboratory examination results, imaging features, pathological results, and treatment in this report. Patients with active cancer who experience wake-up stroke often have mild neurological deficits at the time of onset. For the patient in this study, laboratory test results were mainly characterized by abnormal coagulation function and elevated tumor markers. The brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images were characterized by involvement of both the arterial and venous systems. Thrombolytic therapy during the window period can improve the symptoms of neurological deficits. Overall, anticoagulation therapy was safe and effective in our patient.  相似文献

Hepatic venous gas (HVG) is a very rare ultrasonic finding, and it is defined as abnormal accumulation of gas in the hepatic venous system. Various diseases can cause HVG, and femoral venous catheter is the most common cause. We, herein, present the case of a 79-year-old female patient with HVG that was caused by spontaneous rupture of a Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess. This was first found by bedside ultrasonography. On the basis of the blood culture results, imipenem–cilastatin and cefoperazone sulbactam were administered and the effect was acceptable. After 41 days of antibacterial and symptomatic treatment in the hospital, the patient had recovered well and was discharged. All of the previous reports on HVG have been summarized by thoroughly reviewing the previous published work. Overall, this is the first patient with HVG in association with spontaneous rupture of a K. pneumoniae liver abscess, and it might provide insights for future studies regarding the treatment of this disease.  相似文献

Membrane-bound cytoplasmic crystals were found in the intrafusal fibers of a muscle spindle from a patient with neurogenic atrophy. The crystals have a periodicity of 10 nm and an intersecting axis angle of approximately 80°. This makes the crystals similar to those described in alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS). Because the crystals in ASPS may not be quite as specific as previously believed, and because similar crystals have been described in various other neoplasms, the present findings should not be taken as evidence for a muscle spindle derivation for ASPS.  相似文献

Classically, ultrastructural examination of alveolar soft part sarcoma reveals large, dramatic, rhomboid to needlelike crystals with a characteristic substructure. In this study of four cases of alveolar soft part sarcoma, only two exhibited large crystals, which were rare. All four cases, however, exhibited round, electron-dense granules, and in the two cases without large crystals these granules rarely exhibited elongation with the characteristic substructure of alveolar soft part sarcoma that permits definitive diagnosis. Two of these cases had been previously studied at other institutions, where crystals were not identified ultrastructurally and electron microscopy was considered noncontributory. Large crystals, then, may be rare or absent in alveolar soft part sarcoma. Careful search may be necessary to find granules with the characteristic periodic substructure.  相似文献

Endothelial cells (ECs) line the luminal surfaces of the cardiovascular system and play an important role in cardiovascular functions such as regulation of haemostasis and vasomotor tone. A number of fish and mammalian viruses target these cells in the course of their infection. Infectious salmon anaemia virus (ISAV) attacks ECs and red blood cells (RBCs) of farmed Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.), producing the severe disease of infectious salmon anaemia (ISA). The investigation of ISA has up to now been hampered by the lack of a functional marker for ECs in Atlantic salmon in situ. In this study, we report the characterisation and use of a novel monoclonal antibody (MAb) detecting Atlantic salmon ECs (e.g. vessel endothelium, endocardial cells and scavenger ECs) and RBCs. The antibody can be used with immunohistochemistry, IFAT and on Western blots. It appears that the epitope recognised by the antibody is associated with the ISAV cellular receptor. Besides being a tool to identify ECs in situ, it could be useful in further studies of the pathogenicity of ISA. Finally, the detection of an epitope shared by ECs and RBCs agrees with recent findings that these cells share a common origin, thus the MAb can potentially be used to study the ontogeny of these cells in Atlantic salmon.  相似文献

There are about 400 million people with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection worldwide with a potential of adverse sequelae including hepatocellular carcinoma. Recent data have shown that the level of HBV DNA in serum or plasma of an infected person probably reflects more accurately the replicative activity of the virus and therefore may serve as a better maker for management of the infection. This study was designed to determine the rate of detection of HBV DNA in blood samples of patients with HBsAg positive in Nigeria in comparison with the HBe and anti‐HBe used widely as serological markers of infectivity. Plasma samples from 105 patients with HBsAg positive were tested for the presence of HBeAg and anti‐HBe using a commercial enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay while plasma HBV DNA was quantified using the COBAS Amplicor HBV Monitor assay. Of the 105 HBsAg samples, 17 (16.2%) and 85 (81%) were positive for HBeAg and anti‐HBe, respectively, while 8 (7.6%) were negative for both HBeAg and anti‐HBe. HBV DNA was detected in 86 (81.9%) of the samples, out of which 15 (18.1%) and 67 (80.7%) were positive for HBeAg and anti‐HBe, respectively. HBV DNA was detected in 78.4% of the HBeAg negative samples and in all the eight samples that were negative for both HBeAg and anti‐HBe.
