Oligonol is produced from the oligomerization of polyphenols (typically proanthocyanidin from a variety of fruits such as lychees, grapes, apples, persimmons, etc.) and contains catechin-type monomers and oligomers of proanthocyanidins. The ability of Oligonol to affect infection-dependent eye inflammation, locomotion and longevity in senescence-accelerated prone mice (SAMP8) (a model of senescence acceleration and geriatric disorders with increased oxidative stress and neuronal deficit) was investigated. Oligonol (60mg/kg) significantly modulated the extent of inflammation scores in the eye of SAMP8 mice. Examination of the mice indicated infection with mouse hepatitis virus and pinworm (Syphacia obvelata) in both males and females and with the intestinal protozoa (trichomonad) in males. A comparison of the two groups (using log-rank test) and the difference in the mean life span between groups (using Student's t-test) indicated significant differences in survival (p=0.043) and the mean life span (p=0.033) in male SAMP8 mice. Oligonol increased the mean life span and this was statistically significant. In the open-field locomotive test, the 7-week-old SAMP8 mice crossed more than 40 partitioned lines in 1min. At 48-week-old control untreated male SAMP8 crossed 2 lines. The Oligonol-treated 48-week-old male SAMP8 mice crossed 17 lines however. The improved locomotive activity was statistically significant even after 36weeks in the Oligonol-treated male SAMP8 but this was not the case throughout the time course of the study in the Oligonol-treated female SAMP8. Thus Oligonol treatment to SAMP8 mice modulated the severity of infection-dependent inflammation, prolonged life-span and significantly improved locomotive activity indicating potential benefit to aging-associated diseases such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's diseases. This presents potential for further research to define infection-dependent inflammation associated with degenerative conditions and the molecular mechanism of dietary antioxidant protection.  相似文献

选择89年2月至90年2月175例上呼吸道感染患儿,分为病毒唑雾化吸入组(61例).病毒唑全身给药组(53例)和对照组(61例).平均退热时间分别为30.01±.11,31.89±9.28,40.57±16.94小时.病毒唑组与对照组有非常显著性差异(p<0.01)但两病毒唑治疗组之间无显著性差异,并发现发病时间在一天内接受治疗者,退热时间明显短于超过一天之病例,且发病两天后治疗者与对照组已无显著差异(p<0.05).病毒唑全身用药组和对照组共有4例发展为支气管炎和肺炎,而雾化吸入组无,说明该治疗方法可以阻止病毒感染蔓延至下呼吸道.  相似文献

目的:探讨婴儿肝炎综合征(IHS)的病因。方法:对186例IHS患儿的临床及实验室资料进行回顾性分析。结果:186例IHS患儿中,病原微生物感染107例,占57.53%,其中病毒感染65例,细菌感染37例,真菌感染2例,螺旋体感染3例;先天性胆道闭锁4例;母乳性黄疸24例。结论:IHS病因主要有感染、肝内外胆管畸形、母乳性黄疸等。  相似文献

Immune L3T4+ and Lyt-2+ lymphocytes play an important role in the acquired resistance of mice to challenge with virulent Candida albicans, and release macrophage-activating cytokines in response to yeast cells in vitro. To determine whether antigen (Ag)-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes are generated during fungal infection, purified L3T4+ and Lyt-2+ lymphocytes from immunized mice were cultured in the presence of syngeneic accessory cells, Candida Ag, and IL-2. Yeast-infected bone marrow macrophages and peritoneal exudate neutrophils were used as target cells in a standard 51Cr release assay. Ag-specific, MHC-unrestricted lysis of infected macrophages was evident with immune Lyt-2+ cells after 5–10 days in culture. Under the same experimental conditions, the cytotoxic activity of L3T4+ cells was negligible, but its expression could be induced by the addition of anti-CD3 antibody.Culturing immune Lyt-2+ cells for shorter periods of time (1–2 days) resulted in preferential lysis of infected neutrophils. In addition, at limiting effector cell numbers, Ag-specific MHC-restricted lymphocytes with cytotoxic activity to infected macrophages could be identified. We suggest that C. albicans infection stimulates multiple cytotoxic T-cell precursors with varying recognition stringency, wich may have an important role in antifungal resistance in vivo.  相似文献

Objective:To investigate the relationship between antibiotic administration and the changes in bacteriological profile in a burn unit. Methods: The data of consumption of different kinds of antibiotics, including total antibiotic consumption [expressed as the number of defined daily doses (DDD)] as well as pathogen identification, were collected in a 8-year period. The constituent ratios of different kinds of antibiotics in total antibiotic consumption to isolation rates of various species of bacteria were calculated, and their correlation was analyzed. Results: Within this period, it was found that the aminoglycosides and first generation cephalosporins were used less frequently, while the polypeptides, carbopenem and macrolides were used proportionally more. At the same time, the isolation rates of Staphylococcus aureus, Acinetobacter sp, Enterobacter cloacae, Klebsiella pneumoniae and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus were gradually increased. The constituent ratios of predominant pathogens were correlated to the different kinds of antibiotics consumption in the burn unit. Conclusion: The results suggested that the consumption of different antibiotics was closely related to the trends of emergence of bacterial isolates from infected burn wounds. The result might imply that to regulate the administration of certain antibiotics might help decrease the emergence of certain pathogenic bacteria in burn infections.  相似文献

新生儿重症监护病房侵袭性霉菌感染的临床分析   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8  
目的分析新生儿重症监护病房(NICU)侵袭性霉菌感染的发生率、临床表现、治疗及预后,以及引起霉菌感染的危险因素。方法总结1995~2004年10年间我院NICU侵袭性霉菌感染病例,分析霉菌感染发生的危险因素及氟康唑的疗效。结果(1)同期NICU收治的1 854例患儿中32例发生霉菌感染,发生率为1.73%,死亡12例,病死率37.5%;(2)发生霉菌感染的时间平均为入院后(10.4±7.3)d,表现为霉菌性败血症、脑膜炎、腹膜炎、肺炎,症状包括发热(68.8%)、反应差(71.9%)、呼吸增快(81.3%)或呼吸暂停(46.9%)、腹胀(31.3%)、胃肠营养不耐受(25%)、休克(25%)、皮疹(18.8%)、外周血白细胞增高(65.6%);(3)霉菌感染的危险因素中,低出生体重和机械通气是发生霉菌感染的高危因素(χ2=10.68,P<0.005;χ2=36.2,P<0.005);(4)病原学检查结果以白色念珠菌为主,28例(87.5%);(5)接受氟康唑治疗患儿预后优于非氟康唑治疗者(χ2=7.03,P<0.05)。结论霉菌已成为NICU院内感染的一个重要的致病菌;白色念珠菌是主要的致病菌;引起霉菌感染的危险因素有早产、极低出生体重、机械通气;氟康唑是一种有效的抗霉菌药,适用于早产儿及新生儿。  相似文献

Infective endocarditis of the mitral area accompanied by anorexia nervosa is extremely rare. A 34-year-old Japanese woman presented with high fever and a heart murmur that had developed over the previous 2-month period. Echocardiography revealed mitral regurgitation and vegetation attached to the anterior mitral leaflet, which had markedly prolapsed to the left atrium. We removed the vegetation with a small part of the anterior mitral leaflet and successfully repaired the mitral valve. The patient showed good recovery, and the mitral regurgitation and left ventricular chamber size had satisfactorily decreased at 2 months after the operation.  相似文献
