IntroductionThe biceps brachii lesion needs to be treated surgically. A modified two incisions technique is proposed and reviewed. Material and Methods: All patients were treated with the same technique. The outcomes were measured with the Quick-DASH Score (QDS), and the Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS). Postoperative complications and distal biceps tendon strength were registered also.ResultsAt one year from the trauma, the QDS and the MEPS were excellent in all patients. 72.97% fully recovered and returned to work after 6 months from the trauma.DiscussionThis technique, thanks to its preservation of anatomical structures, provides great outcomes.  相似文献

Numerous studies have shown that cervical arthrodesis is associated with the adjacent-segment pathology (ASP), such as adjacent-level ossification development (ALOD). However, it still remains largely unclear whether the self-locking stand-alone implant system can reduce the incidence of ALOD. In the present study, we prospectively recruited 120 patients with cervical degenerative disc disease (CDDD) who were treated by anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). These patients were randomly and evenly divided into the ROI-C group and plate group. Clinical and radiologic follow-up was performed at 3, 6, 12, 24 and 36 months after surgery. Clinical evaluation included preoperative and postoperative assessments of Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score and Neck Disability Index (NDI) score. The presence and severity of ALOD, as well as the C2-7 Cobb angle, were assessed on the lateral cervical films during follow-up. There were no significant differences in JOA and NDI scores at each time point during the follow-up period between the two groups. ALOD occurred in 8.8% of 58 patients and 6.7% of 104 levels in the cage group. Moreover, ALOD occurred in 20.1% of 57 patients and 17.8% of 101 levels in the plate group. The ALOD was more serious in the plate group compared with the cage group. The C2-7 Cobb angle was significantly improved compared with that before the operation and could be maintained during the follow-up in both groups. The self-locking stand-alone cage was efficacious for ACDF, and it could reduce the incidence of ALOD compared with anterior plate and cage.  相似文献

Plate‐like osteoma cutis (PLOC) is a dermatological disorder characterized by superficial ossification and rarely occurs without any underlying tissue abnormalities or pre‐existing calcification. The hereditary form of PLOC is mainly due to inactivating mutation in the GNAS gene. Inactivating mutation of the GNAS gene is associated with several diseases, which commonly manifest heterotopic ossification and hormonal resistance; however, the development of malignant neoplasm has never been reported. Herein, we report a case of a patient with a novel nonsense mutation in the GNAS gene, who presented with concurrent PLOC and medulloblastoma.  相似文献

This case report presents a 37-year-old man with clinical signs of myelopathy almost 9 years after implantation of a Bryan disc prosthesis (Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Memphis, TN, USA) for C5/C6 soft disc herniation. As demonstrated on MRI and CT scan, spinal cord compression was caused by bony spurs due to heterotopic ossification posterior to the still moving prosthesis. The device, as well as the ectopic bone deposits, had to be removed because of myelopathy and its imminent aggravation. Conversion to anterior spondylodesis was performed.  相似文献

A number of nonneoplastic conditions can mimic tumors of bone. Some of the more common mimics of primary bone tumors include infectious, inflammatory, periosteal, and degenerative joint disease-associated lesions that produce tumorlike bone surface-based or intraosseous lesions. This article considers a spectrum of reactive and nonreactive processes including stress fracture, subchondral cysts, osteonecrosis, heterotopic ossification, osteomyelitis, sarcoidosis, and amyloidoma that can present in such a way that they are mistaken for a tumor arising primary in bone.  相似文献

Growth of the hip joint is described on the basis of annual radiographs taken of the intact hip joints of 50 boys aged between 5–15 years. the ossification centre of the femoral head grows at a faster rate in breadth than in height. the growth rate in breadth of the bony centrum exceeds also that of the proximal metaphysis and, accordingly, in the case of normal ossification, the radio-anatomical condition of these two parts is characteristic of the age of the individual. the osseous acetabulum also grows at a faster rate in breadth than in depth. in the period studied up until the 15th year the width of the “articular space” gradually decreases. the ossification rate in the age group examined manifests—with slower and faster periods—a gradually declining tendency. the changes revealed by the radiographs have been interpreted from the viewpoint of bone development and an analysis is also given of the spatial conditions of ossification.  相似文献

Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are important signaling molecules that regulate many stages of endochondral bone development. During the healing of a skeletal fracture, several features of endochondral bone development are reactivated. To better understand the role of FGFs in skeletal fracture healing, we quantitatively evaluated the temporal expression patterns of Fgfs, Fgf receptors (Fgfrs), and molecular markers of bone development over a 14‐day period following long bone fracture in a mouse model. These studies identify distinct groups of FGFs that are differentially expressed and suggest active stage‐specific roles for FGF signaling during the fracture repair process.
