Addressing the Challenges of Collaborative Goal Setting with Children and Their Families

ABSTRACT

Collaborative goal setting between clinicians and clients/families is considered a fundamental component of the pediatric rehabilitation process. However, truly client-centered goal setting is not without its challenges. The purpose of this paper is to highlight theoretical concepts relevant to rehabilitation goal setting, review clinical studies directly evaluating relationships between goal setting and pediatric rehabilitation outcomes, and provide recommendations to facilitate collaborative goal processes. Four theoretical frameworks were identified that may lie behind and help explain the effectiveness of collaborative goal setting. The four relevant outcome studies found in the review revealed that individualized goal setting is an important component of the intervention, engages families more actively in therapy, and is associated to some extent with positive outcomes. The evidence suggests that the impact of fully collaborative goal setting is sufficiently positive to support investment of organizational and individual time, energy, and resources to make it an integral part of the rehabilitation process.     

PDCA护理模式在治疗腋臭围术期中的应用

目的探讨PDCA护理模式在微创耕耙剥离搔刮法治疗腋臭围术期的应用效果。方法选择2012年1月-2012年12月本院收治的腋臭患者共80例，将其随机分为观察组和对照组各40例。观察组采用PDCA护理模式贯穿于整个围术期，对照组行常规护理。采用Zung焦虑与抑郁自评量表（SAS、SDS）、疼痛指数、创面愈合率和创面愈合时间等指标综合评价护理效果。结果观察组与对照组手术前SAS、SDS评分比较，差异无统计学意义（P〉0．05）；而两组术中疼痛指数比较，差异有统计学意义（P〈0．05）；术后两组创面愈合率和创面愈合时间比较，差异有统计学意义（P〈0．05）。结论PDCA护理模式可有效降低患者疼痛敏感度，促进患者术后康复，有利于临床护理工作的开展。     

骨科大手术后深静脉血栓形成的观察、预防及护理分析

目的对应用全面护理模式对接受大手术治疗后出现深静脉血栓的骨科患者实施护理的临床效果进行研究分析。方法选择82例接受大手术治疗后出现深静脉血栓的骨科患者，将其分为对照组和干预组，每组41例。对照组患者在术后接受常规护理；干预组患者在术后接受全面护理干预。结果干预组患者手术治疗成功率（97．6％）明显高于对照组（80．5％）；手术结束后住院时间[（15．27＋2．85）d]明显短于对照组[（21．68±2．14）d]；住院治疗费用和术后并发症率明显低于对照组。结论应用全面护理模式对接受大手术治疗后出现深静脉血栓的骨科患者实施护理的临床效果非常明显。     

The First Children’s Cancer Hospital,Egypt International Scientific Conference

A wide gathering of scientists, clinicians, pharmacists and nurses specialized in pediatric oncology practice met to celebrate the second anniversary of Children’s Cancer Hospital, Egypt (CCHE). The celebration was in the form of high-brow teaching lectures and reports presented by international experts in the fields of pediatric CNS tumors, solid tumors (neuroblastoma, nephroblastoma, soft tissue and bone tumors, lymphoma, leukemia and pediatric oncology nursing. The conference extends its activities to hospital management, clinical pharmacy and telemedicine. Furthermore, CCHE experts presented the efforts performed to establish a state-of-the-art pediatric oncology hospital equipped with all needed facilities to raise the standard of care to the highest levels.
