Summary Six subjects exercised for 60 min on a cycle ergometer. Their backs were exposed to an artificial sun with a spectral distribution similar to sunlight and an intensity of 724 W m–2. Each subject took part in four experiments in random order: wearing suits of polyester (insulation value = 0.5 clo), white (WP) or black (BP), or cotton (0.6 clo), white (WC) or black (BC). Measured by partitional calorimetry, the calculated heat losses and gains for the four conditions balanced within less than 10%. The differences between the short-wave radiation gains of subjects in white or black garments were small. This is due to the transparency of the white materials, which allows a larger percentage of the radiation to penetrate the clothing. The surface temperatures of the sun-exposed areas were very high, especially in the black suits. This promotes dry heat loss. Therefore the sweat loss in the black suits and the differences between the black and white clothes became relatively small. The physiological strain in steady-state exercise, as expressed by average heart rates, was 142 (WP), 154 (BP), 151 (WC), and 160 (BC) beats min–1; the sweat losses were 649 (WP), 666 (BP), 704 (WC), and 808 (BC) g. For both of these measures values for white polyester were significantly less than those for black cotton.  相似文献

It has been suggested that the renal functional reserve (RFR) defined by the rise in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) after a protein load could disappear in patients with severe nephron loss but with a normal GFR. This study compared, in 17 children, inulin clearance (C in) measured by the plasma inulin plateau at the end of two 14-day randomized periods differing in protein intake: 100% (low protein, LP), or 200% (high protein, HP) of recommended dictary allowances (RDA). Diets were aimed at maintaining food habits and energy intake. Compliance was assessed by records of the last 3–4 days, an interview with the dietician and by urinary nitrogen measurements. Mean actual protein intake was 109% (56%–139%) RDA for the LP period and 220% (163%–319%) RDA for the HP period.C in did not change in 14 children with GFR below (n=7) or within (n=7) the normal range.C in was higher in the HP period than in the LP period (+32, 50, 63%) in 3 children who had a 50% (single kidneys) or a 25% (sclerosed glomeruli) nephron loss. Non-responding children had a GFR below 105 ml/min per 1.73 m2. Nephron loss (70% sclerosed glomeruli) was estimated in only 1 child with no RFR. The results suggest that GFR measurement after prolonged dietary stimulation could help in evaluating the severity of nephron loss in children with normal or borderline GFR. The prognostic value of this test has to be confirmed by long-term follow-up.  相似文献

Immediate éarly genes such as the proto-oncogene c- fos can be expressed in neurons following synaptic excitation by sensory stimulation. C- fos immunocytochemistry has subsequently been shown to be a very sensitive marking technique for neuronal activity. Here, antibodies against the c- fos protein product Fos were used to map the tonotopic organization in the auditory system of adult and developing rats. After stimulating adult rats with pure-tone pulses, bands of Fos-immunoreactive neurons revealed the frequency representation in seven brainstem nuclei: all three subdivisions of the cochlear nucleus, the lateral superior olive, the medial nucleus of the trapezoid body, the ventral nucleus of the trapezoid body, the rostral periolivary nucleus, the dorsal nucleus of the lateral lemniscus and the inferior colliculus. With the exception of the dorsal cochlear nucleus and the inferior colliculus, tonotopicity has not been previously demonstrated in the brainstem nuclei of the rat. During development two striking results were obtained. First, beginning at postnatal day 14 (i.e. ∼2 days after physiological hearing begins in rats), not only low but also high frequencies were able to induce strong Fos immunoreactivity, indicating that gradual recruitment of formerly unresponsive high-frequency sites does not occur in the rat. Second, a gradual age-related shift of the position of isofrequency bands was not seen in any of the nuclei, suggesting that changes in frequency-place code do not occur after 2 weeks postnatally. These results indicate that the rat's auditory brainstem nuclei achieve their adult-like tonotopic organization early on, implying a somewhat different developmental time course than is found in other mammalian species.  相似文献

The concentration of free and total tryptophan and kynurenine in plasma from 49 female depressives and 26 female controls was measured following oral loading with l-tryptophan, 100 mg/kg body weight. There was no significant difference between five depressives and six controls in the area under curve for free or total tryptophan or kynurenine in plasma. The peak concentration of kynurenine occured 4 h after loading and it correlated significantly with the area under curve for kynurenine. There was no significant correlation between the l-tryptophan dose (g) and the plasma concentration of kynurenine at 4 h in the 49 depressives or 26 controls. The mean plasma levels of tryptophan and kynurenine at 4 h in the depressives were not significantly different from control levels. There was no clear relationship between the plasma levels of tryptophan or kynurenine at 4 h and the therapeutic response in 13 depressives treated with l-tryptophan for 14 days.It is concluded that the absorption, the plasma clearance, and the degradation to kynurenine of loading doses of l-tryptophan are normal in depressed patients. Results further-more suggest that the plasma levels of tryptophan and kynurenine at 4 h are poor predictors of the response to l-tryptophan treatment in depressives.  相似文献

Basal expression of the protein products of the inducible immediate early genes (IEGs), c-Fos and Zif268, was investigated in five regions of the rat basal ganglia using immunohistochemistry. In particular, high basal levels of Zif268 but very low levels of c-Fos were seen in the caudate-putamen (CPu). Double immunostaining revealed that many of the constitutively expressed Zif268-positive neurons were GABAergic but very few were cholinergic or neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS)-positive, and some of the Zif268-positive neurons were also immunopositive for a glutamate NMDA receptor subunit NR1 or NR2A. No regional difference between the medial and lateral parts of the CPu was observed in the cellular phenotypes of Zif268-positive neurons. Almost no basal levels of Zif268 were seen in the other four regions: the globus pallidus, entopeduncular nucleus, subthalamic nucleus and substantia nigra pars reticulata. As in the CPu, negligible levels of c-Fos were seen in these four regions. Differential expression of these two IEGs may suggest gene-specific and region-specific functions of c-Fos and Zif268 in the basal ganglia. Constitutive expression of Zif268 existing mainly in the GABAergic neurons in the CPu may at least in part be maintained by glutamatergic afferents.  相似文献

目的:利用即刻负载有限元模型,研究种植体不同螺纹螺距因素对初期稳定性的影响。方法:利用Pro/E软件、Hypermesh软件及ABAQUS有限元软件,建立四类种植体即刻负载的三维有限元模型,比较3种螺纹螺距(0.8mm、1.6mm、2.4mm)在分别垂直和水平加载时,对种植体初期稳定性的影响。结果:对不同螺纹螺距种植体来说,垂直加载和水平加载时0.8mm螺距螺纹种植体微动最小,2.4mm螺距螺纹种植体微动最大。结论:螺纹的螺距对垂直相对位移有影响,对水平相对位移影响不大。随着螺距的增加,种植体对抗垂直向载荷的抵抗力减弱。水平加载时,螺纹的螺距对颈部微动影响不明显。  相似文献

Robotic milling has broad application prospects in many processing fields. However, the milling performance of a robot in a certain posture, such as in face milling or grooving tasks, is extremely sensitive to process parameters due to the influence of the serial structure of the robot system. Improper process parameters are prone to produce machining defects such as low surface quality. These deficiencies substantially decrease the further application development of robotic milling. Therefore, this paper selected a certain posture and carried out the robotic flat-end milling experiments on a 7075-T651 high-strength aeronautical aluminum alloy under dry conditions. Milling load, surface quality and vibration were selected to assess the influence of process parameters like milling depth, spindle speed and feed rate on the milling performance. Most notably, the contribution ratio based on the analysis of variance (ANOVA) was introduced to statistically investigate the relation between parameters and milling performance. The obtained results show that milling depth is highly significant in milling load, which had a contribution ratio of 69.25%. Milling depth is also highly significant in vibration, which had a contribution ratio of 51.41% in the X direction, 41.42% in the Y direction and 75.97% in the Z direction. Moreover, the spindle speed is highly significant in surface roughness, which had a contribution ratio of 48.02%. This present study aims to quantitatively evaluate the influence of key process parameters on robotic milling performance, which helps to select reasonable milling parameters and improve the milling performance of the robot system. It is beneficial to give full play to the advantages of robots and present more possibilities of robot applications in machining and manufacturing.  相似文献

Sentinox (STX) is an acid-oxidizing solution containing hypochlorous acid in spray whose virucidal activity against SARS-CoV-2 has been demonstrated. In this paper, results of a randomized controlled trial (RCT) on the efficacy of STX in reducing viral load in mild COVID-19 patients (NCT04909996) and a complementary in vitro study on its activity against different respiratory viruses are reported. In the RCT, 57 patients were randomized (1:1:1) to receive STX three (STX-3) or five (STX-5) times/day plus standard therapy or standard therapy only (controls). Compared with controls, the log10 load reduction in groups STX-3 and STX-5 was 1.02 (p = 0.14) and 0.18 (p = 0.80), respectively. These results were likely driven by outliers with extreme baseline viral loads. When considering subjects with baseline cycle threshold values of 20–30, STX-3 showed a significant (p = 0.016) 2.01 log10 reduction. The proportion of subjects that turned negative by the end of treatment (day 5) was significantly higher in the STX-3 group than in controls, suggesting a shorter virus clearance time. STX was safe and well-tolerated. In the in vitro study, ≥99.9% reduction in titers against common respiratory viruses was observed. STX is a safe device with large virucidal spectrum and may reduce viral loads in mild COVID-19 patients.  相似文献
