Objectives: The aim of the present work was to comparatively investigate the generation and characteristics of fretting and sliding wear debris produced by CuNiAl against 42CrMo4. Methods: Tribological tests were conducted employing a self-developed tribometer. Most experimental conditions were set the same except for the amplitudes and number of cycles. Morphological, chemical, microstructural and dimensional features of the worn area and debris were investigated using optical microscope (OM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and a laser particle sizer. Outcomes: Not only wear scar profiles but also the wear debris color, distribution and generated amount under fretting and sliding wear modes were quite different, which can be attributed to the significant difference in wear mechanisms. Particle size analysis indicates that the fretting debris has a smaller size distribution range; the biggest detected fretting and sliding wear debris sizes were 141 μm and 355 μm, respectively. Both fretting and sliding debris are mainly composed of copper and its oxides, but the former shows a higher oxidation degree.  相似文献

The goal of current research was to investigate the influence of adding low shrinkage “Phene” like comonomers hexaethylene glycol bis(carbamate-isoproply-α-methylstyrene) (HE-Phene) and triethylene glycol bis(carbamate-isoproply-α-methylstyrene) (TE-Phene) on the surface and color characteristics of composite resin. A range of weight fractions (0, 10, 20, 30, 40 wt.%) of HE/TE-Phene monomers were mixed with bisphenol A glycidyl methacrylate (GMA)/triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) monomer. Experimental composite resins were made by mixing 71 wt.% of silica fillers to 29 wt.% of the resin matrix. A Vickers indenter and glossmeter were used for testing surface hardness (SH) and gloss (SG) at 60°. A chewing-simulator was used to evaluate the surface wear after 15,000 cycles. Color change (∆E) and translucency parameter (TP) were measured using a spectrophotometer. Data showed that HE/TE-Phene monomer had no negative impact (p > 0.05) on surface gloss, wear, color change and translucency of experimental composite resins. Surface hardness was in a reducing direction with the increas in HE/TE-Phene weight fraction (p < 0.05). The study results suggested that incorporating HE/TE-Phene monomers up to 30 wt.% with Bis-GMA/TEGDMA resin did not negatively influence the surface integrity of composite resins except for SH.  相似文献

In heavy loaded mating components, such as sliders and sliding bearings, guaranteeing the efficiency of lubricant films for long times during severe service conditions is very complicated. In this work, the benefits deriving from the use of fiber laser sources for surface texturing of very thin TiN coatings in severe wear working conditions were demonstrated. Evaluations of the laser textured dimples shape, geometry and density are given. Wear performance of the fiber laser textured surfaces was evaluated in discontinuous oil lubricated conditions with a flat contact. High normal load and low sliding speed were applied. Comparison tests were also performed on commercial TiN and WC/C coatings. In terms of average wear volume and maximum wear depth, Laser Surface Texturing of TiN provided respectively a 70% and a 45% reduction if compared to plain TiN. If compared to WC/C the wear resistance gains were lower but LST TiN maintained such benefits for longer wear runs. SEM analysis also revealed that the laser interaction provided a localized thermal cracking to the TiN coating. However, the sliding action caused very limited and localized coating fragmentation or delamination.  相似文献

Ceramic components׳ clinical fractures in total hip arthroplasty (THA) are a rare but, nonetheless, serious complication. As a result of continued improvements in ceramic material quality, manufacturing methods, and implant design made over the last 30 years, the incidence of such failures has been drastically reduced. In this report, the frequency of these ceramic components׳ clinical failures in THA will be examined. In addition, some information regarding the contribution that can be made by the surgeon to enhance the reliability of ceramic components will also be presented. In order to get a broad view, the largest supplier of these components, CeramTec Medical Products (Plochingen, Germany), was contacted, and they agreed to share their most recent data. In the year 2000, the largest supplier of alumina–ceramic bearings for orthopedic applications (CeramTec GmbH, Plochingen, Germany) began a rigorous program of collecting clinical fracture data for all of its ceramic components. The clinical fracture data for the period of January 2000–June 2013 are reported here, with a review of the material properties, historical component fracture trends, and relative risk of fracture associated with alumina THA bearings. The data reported is divided into two separate groups. The first one is the incidence of clinical fracture of the Biolox® forte material. This is their original material developed in the 1970s and is still available today and optimized over the years. The overall clinical fracture rate of these alumina components was 0.021%, or 21 in 100,000, during the January 2000–June 2013 time period. The second group is composed of components manufactured from their Alumina Matrix Composite, Biolox® delta. The overall clinical fracture rate for these components is 0.0001% or 1 in 100,000. Almost 80% of these alumina bearing failures occurred within 36 months following surgery. Using the latest material and increasing femoral head diameter were associated with a substantially reduced risk of fracture. Alumina bearings used in modern THA implants are safe and reliable, with a very low risk of failure. Improvements in the materials, developments in the manufacturing, the introduction of the Alumina Matrix Composite, and the trend to utilize larger-diameter ball heads are likely to continue to reduce the concerns that have been in the mind of surgeons using ceramics in THA.  相似文献

BackgroundErosive tooth wear (ETW) is irreversible loss of dental hard tissue. The authors examined patients’ ability to recognize ETW relative to sound teeth and teeth with caries.MethodsUsing Amazon’s crowdsourcing service, the authors recruited participants (N = 623) to view standardized images of buccal surfaces of teeth (sound, ETW, or caries). Participants reported whether a dental condition existed (yes or no), likelihood to seek care, and esthetic attractiveness for teeth with no, initial, moderate, or severe signs of ETW or caries.ResultsDental patients showed poor recognition of cases of ETW, especially compared with sound and caries-affected teeth at each level of severity. Patients were less likely to schedule a dental appointment for care or treatment of teeth with ETW than for teeth with caries at each level of severity. Patients also found ETW more esthetically attractive than caries at each level of severity and found initial ETW more attractive than sound teeth.ConclusionsDental patients struggle to recognize ETW, in general and compared with caries, at each level of severity and particularly for early stages of ETW. These recognition difficulties likely arise, in part, from tooth esthetic attractiveness standards (smooth and shiny teeth look more esthetic), possibly leading to lack of appropriate care-seeking behavior.Practical ImplicationsThis internet-based tool may be used to assess dental patients’ awareness and ability to recognize cases of ETW. Improved patient awareness might lead to seeking professional care to prevent or delay ETW progression.  相似文献

Erosion by flowing fluids carves striking landforms on Earth and also provides important clues to the past and present environments of other worlds. In these processes, solid boundaries both influence and are shaped by the surrounding fluid, but the emergence of morphology as a result of this interaction is not well understood. We study the coevolution of shape and flow in the context of erodible bodies molded from clay and immersed in a fast, unidirectional water flow. Although commonly viewed as a smoothing process, we find that erosion sculpts pointed and cornerlike features that persist as the solid shrinks. We explain these observations using flow visualization and a fluid mechanical model in which the surface shear stress dictates the rate of material removal. Experiments and simulations show that this interaction ultimately leads to self-similarly receding boundaries and a unique front surface characterized by nearly uniform shear stress. This tendency toward conformity of stress offers a principle for understanding erosion in more complex geometries and flows, such as those present in nature.  相似文献

目的观察肿瘤坏死因子抑制剂Salazotyrin治疗类风湿性关节炎(rheumatoid arthritis,RA)的治疗效果及对人体的安全性。方法97例RA患者随机分为两组,对照组57例给予传统药物氨甲蝶呤和硫酸羟氯喹;治疗组40例应用Salazotyrin进行为期3个月的治疗。结果治疗组总有效率(92.5%)显著高于对照组(71.9%)(P〈0.05),在关节肿胀数、关节肿胀指数、晨僵时间和关节压痛指数等方面均与用药前有显著差异(P〈0.05),且该药与传统药物所产生的副反应无显著差异。结论Salazotyrin治疗RA疗效明显优于传统的氨甲蝶呤和硫酸羟氯喹,且不良反应少而轻微,安全性好。  相似文献

BACKGROUND: This article uses a direct ethanol antagonist, increased atmospheric pressure, to further test the causative link between ethanol potentiation of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) type A receptor function and ethanol's behavioral effects. This was done by determining whether initial biochemical findings in long-sleep (LS) mice extended to other genotypes and whether the previously reported insensitivity of short-sleep (SS) mice to pressure antagonism of ethanol-induced loss of righting reflex extended to a nonselected ethanol-induced behavior. METHODS: The effects of 12 times normal atmospheric pressure of helium-oxygen gas (heliox) versus ethanol (25-200 mM) potentiation of GABA-activated Cl- uptake in brain membranes (microsacs) from C57, LS, and SS mice were tested by using a 36Cl- flux assay. The effects of pressure versus ethanol's (2 g/kg) anticonvulsant effect in SS mice were tested by using time to onset of isoniazid-induced myoclonic seizures. RESULTS: Exposure to 12 times normal atmospheric pressure heliox antagonized ethanol potentiation of GABA-activated Cl- uptake in all three genotypes across a range of ethanol concentrations that cause ethanol's behavioral and anesthetic effects. Pressure did not affect baseline receptor function. The threshold for initiating ethanol potentiation differed between genotypes in accordance with their behavioral sensitivities to ethanol (C57 and LS, < or =25 mM; SS, >50 mM). Pressure antagonized ethanol's anticonvulsant effect in SS mice. CONCLUSIONS: The results add important direct evidence supporting the hypothesis that ethanol potentiation of GABA(A) receptor function is an initial action of ethanol causing its behavioral effects. These findings also provide insight into possible effects of selective breeding on GABA(A) receptor function.  相似文献
