Isolation and characterization of 23 microsatellite loci in the Chinese sucker (Myxocyprinus asiaticus)

Chinese sucker (Myxocyprinus asiaticus) is a second class state-protected animal in China. In this study, we developed twenty-three polymorphic microsatellite loci in Chinese sucker. The observed and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.292–0.958 to 0.423–0.900, respectively. The polymorphic information content ranged from 0.356 to 0.869, with a mean of 0.710. These microsatellite loci are expected to be useful for further studies of genetic diversity, population genetic structure, and assessments of the artificial propagation release effect of Chinese sucker.     

Anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial coumarins from the stems of Eurya chinensis

Two new coumarins, named (±)-euryacoumarin A (1) and 6-demethylobtusinin (2), and one new natural coumarin, named euryacoumarin B (3), along with two known compounds, scopoletin (4) and obtusinol (5), were isolated from the stems of Eurya chinensis. Their structures were elucidated by means of extensive spectroscopic methods and comparison with data reported in the literatures. Compound 1 exhibited significant inhibition of LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW264.7 cells with IC₅₀ value of 35.64 ± 1.73 μM, and showed marginal antibacterial activities against Bacillus subtilis and B. cereus with MIC values of 50.59 ± 2.12 and 35.42 ± 0.96 μM, respectively.     

The accumulation study of 90Sr in fish from a fishpond of northern Taiwan

Three kinds of fish from a natural fishpond in the north of Taiwan were collected and analyzed in this study. The three species were non-predatory Ctenopharyn odon idellus, predatory Aristichthys nobilis and predatory Mylopharyngodon piceus. The activity concentrations of ⁹⁰Sr in bone and edible flesh of fish, as well as in water and soil of fishpond were measured by using the radiochemical analysis. Additionally, the concentration of stable calcium in fish bone, [Ca]_bone, and that of stable strontium in fish bone, [Sr]_bone, were measured by ICP-AES. From the results, the concentration factors of ⁹⁰Sr, CF(⁹⁰Sr), in fish bone was no statistic difference between non-predatory and predatory fish. Besides, the accumulation of ⁹⁰Sr in the non-predatory fish remarkably decreased with increasing the fish weight. As for the predatory fish, they both showed no statistically significant correlations between the ⁹⁰Sr activity concentration and the fish weight. Regarding the activity concentrations of ⁹⁰Sr in fish bone, all the fish were observed positively correlated with the measured [Sr]_bone.     

漂浮导管技术在急性心衰患者中的临床应用

目的探讨漂浮导管技术应用于急性心功能衰竭患者的临床效果、指导意义。方法 2007年5月～2010年12月入住我科ICU的75例急性心衰患者中35例患者在漂浮导管监测下给予常规心衰治疗,另40例患者未予漂浮导管监测下给予经验性常规心衰治疗,比较两组患者治疗前后的病情缓解时间。结果 35例在漂浮导管监测指导下治疗的患者较未予漂浮导管监测治疗的患者病情缓解时间短、心衰并发症发生率低（P〈0.05）。结论漂浮导管技术对于血流动力学不稳定的急性心力衰竭患者的临床治疗有重要的指导价值。     

Optimisation of protein microarray techniques for analysis of the plasma proteome: Minimisation of non-specific binding interactions

Components of the plasma proteome, particularly serum albumin, have been shown to compromise the accuracy of protein microarray technologies through non-specific binding interactions. Optimisation of array conditions is imperative to help address these problems. Here we demonstrate how modifications to array printing conditions and processing methodology can influence the reliability of data output. In particular, we demonstrate that whilst some glycerol is necessary to maintain specific binding signals, it also increases non-specific binding of albumin. Concentrations of 20% glycerol in the printing buffers are therefore recommended. The findings presented here provide opportunities for increased accuracy in plasma protein detection for possible future diagnostic applications.
