Dear Editor,Small,short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)(acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid:conjugate bases, acetate, propionate, and butyrate)as well as the alpha-hydroxy acid,L-lactic acid(conjugate base,L-lactate)are important energy substrates and signaling molecules in the central nervous system(CNS)[1,2].L-lactic acid is produced by glycolysis[3]and gut microbes[4]and is released in large quantities during exercise[5]. 相似文献
Family mealtimes can be important for supporting children''s healthy development, yet the emotional context of mealtimes can vary considerably, likely impacting their overall success and enjoyment. Yet, despite having an important role, little is known about how parents emotionally experience mealtimes with their family. The first aim of the current study was to assess the factor structure of a novel self‐report measure to assess parents’ emotional responses experienced during family mealtimes (Mealtime Emotions Measure for Parents; MEM‐P). The second aim was to examine relationships between maternal mealtime emotions and their food parenting practices. Mothers of children aged between 1.5 and 6 years participated in this study. Mothers were invited to complete an online questionnaire measuring family mealtime emotions, anxiety, depression and food parenting practices. Exploratory factor analysis produced a three‐factor solution comprising both positive and negative emotion subscales: MEM‐P Efficacy; MEM‐P Anxiety; MEM‐P Stress and Anger. Mothers'' positive mealtime emotions (mealtime efficacy) were related to greater use of practices promoting autonomy, providing a healthy home food environment, and modelling healthy eating. Higher anxiety about mealtimes was related to greater reports of child control over eating, and mealtime stress and anger was associated with greater use of food to regulate emotions. These findings highlight novel relationships between how mothers emotionally experience family mealtimes and the food parenting practices they use with their children. It is important to develop resources to help promote positive maternal experiences of family mealtimes and food‐based interactions. 相似文献
AbstractThe central role of spouses/partners in patients’ adaptation to cancer is well-established, but few studies have examined how partners facilitate adaptation. The Common Sense Model posits that a representation of illness as more controllable and less threatening promotes adaptive coping, but this has not been examined in a dyadic context. This cross-sectional study examined the relations of spouse illness representations of personal and treatment control, and emotional representations to recently diagnosed cancer patients’ coping behaviors, through patient illness representations. One hundred forty-nine heterosexual couples (39.60% female patients; 77.18% dealing with early stage cancer) participated in the study. Structural Equation Modeling showed that spouse illness representations were related to patient coping directly and indirectly through patient illness representations. Both partners’ representations of control were related to greater patient adaptive coping, and both partners’ emotional representations were related to greater dysfunctional coping. These findings highlight the importance of partner illness representations in patients’ adaptation to cancer. They also suggest that early intervention programs that address both partners’ illness representations may enhance patients’ adaptation to cancer. 相似文献
Introduction: Intermittent parathyroid hormone (PTH) administration, acting through multiple signaling pathways, exerts an osteoanabolic effect on the skeleton that surpasses the effect of other antiosteoporotic agents. However, its efficacy is limited by the coupling effect and relatively common adverse events. Thus, the development of more sophisticated PTH receptor analogs seems imperative.
Areas covered: In this review, the authors summarize the role of PTH signaling pathway in bone remodeling. The authors also summarize investigational analogs targeting this pathway, which may be potential treatments for osteoporosis.
Expert opinion: β-arrestins are multifunctional cytoplasmic molecules that are decisive for regulating intracellular PTH signaling. Recently, in preclinical studies, arrestin analogs have achieved the anabolic bone effect of PTH without an accompanying increase in bone resorption. However, it is not yet known whether these analogs have adverse effects and there are no clinical data for their efficacy to date. On the other hand, several molecules derived either from PTH and PTH-related protein (PTHrP) molecules have been developed. Alternative routes of PTH 1 – 34 delivery (oral, transdermal), the PTH analog ostabolin and the N-terminal PTHrP analogs PTHrP 1 – 36 and abaloparatide, have recently been or are currently being tested in clinical trials and are more likely to become available for use in the near future. 相似文献
Coenurosis is a disease of the central nervous system in sheep, caused by Coenurus cerebralis, the larval stage of Multiceps multiceps, which inhabits the small intestine of Canidae. A case of regurgitations in a 2.5 month old lamb with acute coenurosis is being reported. The lamb was presented with a sudden onset of ataxia and regurgitations for 10 days. The post-mortem examination revealed 4 immature C. cerebralis cysts between 0.5 and 1.5 cm in diameter located in the brainstem and cerebellum, and histopathological examination revealed multifocal pyogranulomatous meningoencephalitis, so a diagnosis of acute coenurosis was established. Thus, acute coenurosis should be included in the differential diagnosis of regurgitations in lambs. 相似文献
