The inevitable destructive effects of moisture and temperature are obvious in cellulosic and nanocellulosic substrates. These materials are the main foundations of interdependent industries that produce products such as currency notes or high-quality packaging for sanitary, cosmetics, or ammunition in the defense industry. Therefore, it is essential to develop procedures to eliminate problems arising from humidity and fire to improve the quality of these green and sustainable materials. The production of waterproof and flame-resistant cellulose-based substrates has drawn increasing attention to resolve these drawbacks. In this review paper, we have initially summarized the most accessible cellulosic substrates, different kinds of nanocellulose, and the general information about water repellents and intumescent fireproof surfaces. Then, the potential and necessity of using cellulosic biobased substrates are addressed for use in modified shapes as waterproof and fire inhibitor coatings. Cost-effective, eco-friendly, and durable, dual-function coatings are also introduced as future challenges, which are exploited as water-repellents and flame-retardant cellulose-based surfaces for pulp and paper applications. 相似文献

To avoid time-consuming, costly, and laborious experimental tests that require skilled personnel, an effort has been made to formulate the depth of wear of fly-ash concrete using a comparative study of machine learning techniques, namely random forest regression (RFR) and gene expression programming (GEP). A widespread database comprising 216 experimental records was constructed from available research. The database includes depth of wear as a response parameter and nine different explanatory variables, i.e., cement content, fly ash, water content, fine and coarse aggregate, plasticizer, air-entraining agent, age of concrete, and time of testing. The performance of the models was judged via statistical metrics. The GEP model gives better performance with R2 and ρ equals 0.9667 and 0.0501 respectively and meet with the external validation criterion suggested in the previous literature. The k-fold cross-validation also verifies the accurateness of the model by evaluating R2, RSE, MAE, and RMSE. The sensitivity analysis of GEP equation indicated that the time of testing is the influential parameter. The results of this research can help the designers, practitioners, and researchers to quickly estimate the depth of wear of fly-ash concrete thus shortening its ecological susceptibilities that push to sustainable and faster construction from the viewpoint of environmentally friendly waste management. 相似文献

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a chronic autoimmune disorder with potentially fatal outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of l ‐carnitine (LC) on secreted frizzled‐related protein‐5 (SFRP5), omentin, visfatin, and glycemic indices in PV patients under corticosteroid treatment. In this randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled clinical trial, 52 patients with PV were divided randomly into two groups to receive 2 g of LC or a placebo for 8 weeks. Serum levels of SFRP5, omentin, visfatin, and also glycemic indices were evaluated at the baseline and end of the study. LC supplementation significantly decreased the serum level of visfatin (95% CI [?14.718, ?0.877], p = .05) and increased the serum levels of SFRP5 (95%CI [1.637, 11.380], p < .006) and omentin (95% CI [9.014, 65.286], p < .01). However, LC supplementation had no significant effects on the serum levels of glycemic factors such as insulin (95% CI [?1.125, 3.056], p = .426), fasting blood sugar (95% CI [?4.743, 3.642], p = .894), homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (95% CI [?0.305, 0.528], p = .729), and quantitative insulin‐sensitivity check index (95% CI [?0.016, ?0.010], p = .81). LC supplementation decreased visfatin serum level and increased omentin‐1 and SFRP5 serum levels in patients with PV. We report the performance of a graphene-enhanced THz grating fabricated by depositing a gold layer on the femtosecond micromachined SiO2 substrate. The morphology of the gold plated patterned substrate was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), while the quality of the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene was evaluated by Raman spectroscopy. The electromagnetic (EM) response of the metasurface comprising the graphene sheet and the gold plated substrate was studied by THz time domain spectroscopy in the 100 GHz–1 THz frequency range. We employed the finite elements method (FEM) to model the metasurface EM response by adjusting the ac conductivity of the gold layer covering the patterned SiO2 substrate to reproduce the measured transmission/reflection spectra. The results of the numerical simulation reveal the impact of the imperfectness of the gold layer on the performance of the THz metasurface. The experimental results are well described in terms of the Drude–Smith model of metal conductivity that takes into account the anisotropic scattering of the carriers in thin metal films. 相似文献

OBJECTIVESIn patients with unknown coronary status undergoing surgery for acute infective endocarditis (IE), the need to screen for coronary artery disease (CAD) and the risk of embolization during invasive coronary angiography (ICA) are debated. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is a non-invasive alternative in these patients. We aimed to evaluate the safety and feasibility of ICA and CCTA to diagnose CAD, and the necessity to treat CAD to prevent CAD-related postoperative complications. Open in a separate windowMETHODSIn this single-centre retrospective cohort study, all patients with acute aortic IE between 2009 and 2019 undergoing surgery were selected. Outcomes were any clinically evident embolization after preoperative ICA, in-hospital mortality, perioperative myocardial infarction or unplanned revascularization and postoperative renal function.RESULTSOf the 159 included patients, CAD status was already known in 14. No preoperative diagnostics for CAD was done in 46/145, a CCTA was performed in 54/145 patients and an ICA in 52/145 patients. Significant CAD was found after CCTA in 22% and after ICA in 21% of patients. In 1 of the 52 (2%) patients undergoing preoperative ICA, a cerebral embolism occurred. The rate of perioperative myocardial infarction or unplanned revascularization in patients not screened for CAD was 2% (1 out of 46 patients).CONCLUSIONSAlthough the risk of embolism after preoperative ICA is low, it should be carefully weighed against the estimated risk of CAD-related perioperative complications. CCTA can serve as a gatekeeper for ICA in most patients with acute aortic IE. 相似文献
