Size exclusion chromatography coupled with light scattering (SEC/MALS), dynamic light scattering (DLS), steady‐state and time‐resolved fluorescence, as well as molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are used to study the behavior of several poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)/α‐cyclodextrins (αCDs) polyrotaxanes (PRs) in solution. The number of CD units in any of the PRs studied is always smaller than that required to saturate the PEG chains. These PRs seem to aggregate in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solution. The presence of hairpins in the non‐saturated PRs contributes to diminishing their expected large dimensions. Intra‐ and inter­molecular interactions and forces responsible for hairpins and aggregation are investigated.

To assess the effect of social isolation of growing rats on 24-h rhythmicity of circulating prolactin and growth hormone (GH) levels and submaxillary lymph node immune responses, male Wistar rats were either individually caged or kept in groups (4–5 animals per cage) for 30 d starting on d 35 of life. Plasma prolactin and GH levels, and submaxillary lymph node lymphocyte subset populations, interferon (IFN)-γ release and mitogenic responses to concanavalin A (Con A) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were determined at six time intervals during the 24 h span. Social isolation brought about changes in mean values and 24-h pattern of plasma prolactin and GH levels and lymph node immune responses. After isolation, prolactin and GH mean values decreased, and lymph node T, B, non T-non B, CD8+, and CD4+-CD8+ cells augmented, whereas lymph node CD4+/CD8+ ratio, IFN-γ release and mitogenic responses decreased. Social isolation resulted in disruption of 24 h rhythmicity of every immune parameter tested. CD4+/CD8+ ratio, IFN-γ release and Concanavalin A (Con A) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) responses correlated significantly with plasma prolactin or GH levels while T/B ratio correlated with plasma prolactin levels only. B, non T-non B, and CD4+-CD8+ cells correlated negatively with plasma prolactin. Modifications in mean value and 24-h rhythmicity of plasma prolactin and GH levels are presumably involved in the effect of social isolation on immune responsiveness.  相似文献

The maintenance of an adequate oxygen supply to tissues after congenital heart surgery is essential for good outcomes. The objective of this study was to assess the usefulness of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for estimating central venous oxygen saturation (ScvO2) using both cerebral and renal measurements, explore its relation with cardiac output measurements and check its ability to detect low cardiac output. A prospective observational pilot study was conducted in patients weighing <10 kg undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass surgery. Spectroscopy probes were placed on the forehead and renal area, and serial cardiac output measurements were obtained by femoral transpulmonary thermodilution over the first 24 h after surgery. In the 15 patients studied, ScvO2 was correlated with cerebral (r = 0.58), renal (r = 0.60) and combined (r = 0.71) measurements. Likewise, the systolic index was correlated with the NIRS signals: cerebral (r = 0.60), renal (r = 0.50) and combined (r = 0.66). Statistically significant differences were found in the NIRS measures registered in the 29 low cardiac output events detected by thermodilution: cerebral: 62 % (59–65) versus 69 % (63–76); renal: 83 % (70–89) versus 89 % (83–95); and combined 64 % (60–69) versus 72 % (67–76). In our series, combined cerebral and renal monitoring was correlated with central venous oxygen saturation and cardiac output; low cardiac output detection associated a different spectroscopy pattern.  相似文献

The effect of antimicrobials on SOS-mediated mutagenesis induction depends on the bacterial species and the antimicrobial group. In this work, we studied the effect of different families of antimicrobial agents used in clinical therapy against Acinetobacter baumannii in the induction of mutagenesis in this multiresistant Gram-negative pathogen. The data showed that ciprofloxacin and tetracycline induce SOS-mediated mutagenesis, whereas colistin and meropenem, which are extensively used in clinical therapy, do not.  相似文献

A mechanism is proposed for the formation in gas phase, during a short time, of the delicately symmetrical coplanar C(2h) classic 7-azaindole (7AI) doubly hydrogen-bonded dimer. Of the five card-pack or otherwise random geometry structures most likely to be formed in the supersonic jet expansion molecular beam, none would be an obvious precursor to the C(2h) dimer. One unstable dimer with dipole-dipole, van der Waals, and plane-to-plane hydrogen bonding is shown to be capable of unhinging about the hydrogen-bond pair as an axis, from 0 degrees to 90 degrees to 180 degrees, yielding a deep minimum for the C(2h) structure with its delicate geometry and symmetry. This relaxation mechanism is feasible in the 3-micros interval between the nozzle escape and the first laser pulse interception of the molecular beam. In the second part of the paper four published mechanisms are compared for concerted vs. two-step biprotonic phototransfer for the 7AI dimers. The dependence of the latter two models on H-atom instead of proton-transfer as an intermediate step negates the mechanism in a singlet (pi,pi*) electronic state by the valency repulsion, in the 3-electron orbital that would be generated. The concerted mechanism for biprotonic phototransfer is reaffirmed by the analysis of the quantum mechanical conditions set on the biprotonic transfer in the photo-excited molecular 7AI pair.  相似文献

Understanding of coronavirus disease 2019 is rapidly evolving with new articles on the subject daily. This flood of articles can be overwhelming for busy practicing clinicians looking for key pieces of information that can be applied in daily practice. This review article synthesizes the reported imaging findings in pediatric Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) across the literature, offers imaging differential diagnostic considerations and useful radiographic features to help differentiate these entities from COVID‐19, and provides recommendations for requesting imaging studies to evaluate suspected cases of pediatric COVID‐19.  相似文献
