Background

The aim of the present clinical and radiological study was to compare bioglass and calcium sulphate β-hemihydrate in the treatment of intraosseous defect in chronic periodontitis.

Method

A total of 50 subjects with bilaterally symmetrical periodontal osseous defects with probing pocket depth = 5 mm and intraosseous defects ≥ 3 mm as seen on the radiographs were undertaken for the study. In one site (group A) bioactive glass was placed in defect and in contralateral site (group B) calcium sulphate β-hemihydrate was used in the defect site.

Results

Clinical improvement was noted in all patients at the end of study. Both the groups showed reduction in probing pocket depth, increase in clinical attachment level, and reduction in osseous defect. Both materials were effective in achieving osseous gain.

Conclusion

The osseous gain in group A subjects was 58.93%, whereas in group B subjects it was 48.56%. Calcium sulphate β-hemihydrates showed promising results and were cost effective.  相似文献

A homogeneous high-molecular-weight glycoprotein possessing tissue-specific, but not species-specific antimitotic activity relative to epithelium of dermal type (epidermal G2-chalone) was isolated electrophoretically and immunochemically from rat skin. A method of quantitative immunodiffusion determination of this substance by means of monospecific antiserum in certain tissues is described. 17 beta-Estradiol level was higher in the blood serum of rats aged 14 to 16 months with regular estral cycles during all the phases as compared to that in 3- to 4-month-old female rats. The latter ones had a higher vaginal mucosa G2-chalone concentration. The level of the vaginal mucosa G2-chalone decreased in young rats 12 hours after subcutaneous benzoate-estradiol injection (1 micrograms/100 g body weight) to ovariectomized animals but increased in 14- to 16-month-old female rats. One year following ovariectomy the vaginal mucosa G2-chalone level was lower than in young and aged female rats 2 weeks after surgery. Possible role of age-associated disturbances of the regulatory cell proliferation stimulant (estrogen) and its inhibitor (chalone) interactions in neoplastic target tissue transformation is discussed.  相似文献

Some factors influencing the preservation of myoglobin titre in human blood serum, measured by enzyme immunoassay (EIA), were under study. The optimal storage conditions were selected: +4 degrees C in the presence of 0.005 M ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, 0.001 M phenylmethylsulfonylfluoride, and 0.01% merthiolate. The authors suppose that myoglobin titre reduces over the course of serum storage because of myoglobin molecule proteolytic degradation and conformation changes in aggregate transition. Serum dilution made to choose the optimal signal/background ratio is another essential factor in EIA measurement of myoglobin concentrations.  相似文献

The content of epidermal inhibitor of mitosis (G2 chalone) at different stages of the estrous cycle in rats was determined by the radial immunodiffusion method. The chalone level correlates with the mitotic index of the vaginal mucous membrane and is minimal in proestrus and maximal in estrus. In aging (14–16 months) rats with regular cycles the content of G2 chalone in the vaginal mucous membrane at all phases of the estrous cycle was significantly lower than in young (3–4 months) rats with a regular cycle. In castrated rats the mitotic index begins to rise 18 h after a single injection of estradiol benzoate (1 g/100 g body weight).
