The purpose of this work was to validate a parallel imaging (PI) and compressed sensing (CS) combined reconstruction method for a recently proposed 4D non‐breath‐held, multiphase, steady‐state imaging technique (MUSIC) cardiovascular MRI in a cohort of pediatric congenital heart disease patients. We implemented a graphics processing unit accelerated CS‐PI combined reconstruction method and applied it in 13 pediatric patients who underwent cardiovascular MRI after ferumoxytol administration. Conventional breath‐held contrast‐enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE‐MRA) was first performed during the first pass of ferumoxytol injection, followed by the original MUSIC and the proposed CS‐PI MUSIC during the steady‐state distribution phase of ferumoxytol. Qualities of acquired images were then evaluated using a four‐point scale. Left ventricular volumes and ejection fractions calculated from the original MUSIC and the CS‐PI MUSIC were also compared with conventional multi‐slice 2D cardiac cine MRI. The proposed CS‐PI MUSIC reduced the imaging time of the MUSIC acquisition to 4.6 ± 0.4 min from 8.9 ± 1.2 min. Computationally intensive image reconstruction was completed within 5 min without interruption of sequential clinical scans. The proposed method (mean 3.3–4.0) provided image quality comparable to that of the original MUSIC (3.2–4.0) (all P ≥ 0.42), and better than conventional breath‐held first‐pass CE‐MRA (1.1–3.3) for 13 anatomical structures (all P ≤ 0.0014) with good inter‐observer agreement (κ > 0.46). The calculated ventricular volumes and ejection fractions from both original MUSIC (r > 0.90) and CS‐PI MUSIC (r > 0.85) correlated well with 2D cine imaging. In conclusion, PI and CS were successfully incorporated into the 4D MUSIC acquisition to further reduce scan time by approximately 50% while maintaining highly comparable image quality in a clinically practical reconstruction time.  相似文献

Structural reorganization in white matter (WM) after stroke is a potential contributor to substitute or to newly establish the functional field on the injured brain in nature. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is an imaging modality that can be used to evaluate damage and recovery within the brain. This method of imaging allows for in vivo assessment of the restricted movements of water molecules in WM and provides a detailed look at structural connectivity in the brain. For longitudinal DTI studies after a stroke, the conventional region of interest method and voxel‐based analysis are highly dependent on the user‐hypothesis and parameter settings for implementation. In contrast, tract‐based spatial statistics (TBSS) allows for reliable voxel‐wise analysis via the projection of diffusion‐derived parameters onto an alignment‐invariant WM skeleton. In this study, spatiotemporal WM changes were examined with DTI‐derived parameters (fractional anisotropy, FA; mean diffusivity, MD; axial diffusivity, DA; radial diffusivity, RD) using TBSS 2 h to 6 weeks after experimental focal ischemic stroke in rats (N = 6). FA values remained unchanged 2–4 h after the stroke, followed by a continuous decrease in the ipsilesional hemisphere from 24 h to 2 weeks post‐stroke and gradual recovery from the ipsilesional corpus callosum to the external capsule until 6 weeks post‐stroke. In particular, the fibers in these areas were extended toward the striatum of the ischemic boundary region at 6 weeks on tractography. The alterations of the other parameters in the ipsilesional hemisphere showed patterns of a decrease at the early stage, a subsequent pseudo‐normalization of MD and DA, a rapid reduction of RD, and a progressive increase in MD, DA and RD with a decreased extent in the injured area at later stages. The findings of this study may reflect the ongoing processes on tissue damage and spontaneous recovery after stroke.  相似文献

Extracellular superoxide dismutase (EC‐SOD) is an enzyme that catalyses the dismutation of superoxide anions. It has multiple functions, such as reactive oxygen species scavenging, anti‐angiogenic, anti‐inflammatory, antichemotatic and antitumor activities. Recently, we demonstrated that EC‐SOD inhibits ovalbumin‐induced allergic airway inflammation in mice. However, the anti‐allergic effect of EC‐SOD on skin tissue and the role of EC‐SOD in mast cells, which are important for allergic responses, have not been well studied. In this study, we investigated whether EC‐SOD can alleviate atopic dermatitis in mice and inhibit mast cell activation. Treatment with human recombinant EC‐SOD ameliorated house dust mite‐induced atopic dermatitis in mice. Furthermore, the levels of pro‐allergic cytokine gene expression and histamine release increased in EC‐SOD KO mast cells and decreased in EC‐SOD overexpressing mast cells, suggesting that EC‐SOD inhibits mast cell activation. Consistently, a passive cutaneous anaphylaxis experiment showed more blood leakage from EC‐SOD KO mouse ear skin, implying that the lack of EC‐SOD increases allergic responses. These results suggest that EC‐SOD inhibits mast cell activation and atopic dermatitis and that the loss of EC‐SOD causes more severe allergic responses, implying that EC‐SOD might be a good drug candidate for treatment of allergic disorders, such as atopic dermatitis.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Aneurysm remnants after microsurgical clipping have a risk of regrowth and rupture and have not been validated in the era of three-dimensional angiography. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the angiographic outcome using three-dimensional rotational images and determine the predictors for remnants after microsurgical clipping.

Methods: Between January 2014 and May 2017, 139 aneurysms in 106 patients who were treated with microsurgical clipping, were eligible for this study. For the determination of aneurysm remnants after microsurgical clipping, the angiographic outcomes were evaluated using follow-up digital subtraction angiography within 7 days for unruptured aneurysms or within 2 weeks for ruptured aneurysms. According to the Sindou classification, the aneurysm remnants were dichotomized, and subgroup analysis was performed to identify the predictors of aneurysm remnants after clipping with various imaging parameters and clinical information.

Results: The overall rate of aneurysm remnants was 29.5% (41/139), in which retreatments were needed in 6.5% (9/139). The neck size and maximum diameter of aneurysms were independent predisposing factors for the aneurysm remnants that need retreatment (OR: 2.30; p < 0.001; OR: 1.38; p < 0.001, respectively).

Conclusions: This study demonstrated a low incidence of aneurysm remnants after microsurgical clipping which need to retreatment. However, selective postoperative angiography could provide us clear information of surgical result and evidence for long-term follow-up for some aneurysms with larger neck size (>5.7 mm) and maximum diameter (>7.1 mm).  相似文献
