Background and study aim
The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) plays an important role in tumourigenesis and tumour progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) and leads to the activation of intracellular signaling pathways. The use of anti-EGFR-targeted therapy has increased for patients with metastatic CRC. Today, the clinical utility of immunohistochemistry has remained somewhat inconclusive. It is based on EGFR screening methods using paraffin-embedded tumour specimen to select patients eligible for treatment. There is still lack of agreement on reproducible scoring criteria for EGFR immunohistochemistry has in various clinical trials.Patients and methods
We retrospectively reviewed 36 CRC patients who underwent surgeries during 2011 in Habib Thameur hospital in Tunis. We analyzed the immunohistochemical overexpression of EGFR using a score based on immunostaining intensity. In addition, we analyzed the correlation between this overexpression and patients' clinicopathologic parameters.Results
The positive expression rate of EGFR was 78% (28/36). Using the immunoreactivity score, 21 cases were considered low grade expression and 15 tumours were high grade. Immunohistochemical expression of EGFR showed a significant difference with tumour’s location (p?=?0.034) and vascular invasion (p?=?0.03). This expression was not significantly associated with age, gender, tumour size, histological type, grade, TNM staging and perineural invasion.Conclusions
EGFR expression by immunohistochemistry in CRC is variably correlated with clinicopathological parameters. Its assessment by this method has still not proved its predictive value. 相似文献82.

Objectives
Beta-2-microglobulin (β2M) dialysis-related amyloidosis (DRA), a disabiliting joint disease, has been initially reported in patients under long-term dialysis. The incidence and prevalence has significantly decreased with the improvement in dialysis techniques. Here, we attempted to clarify the clinical and MRI features to improve the diagnosis.Methods
We retrospectively reviewed the files of 19 patients under dialysis treatment referred for suspicion of β2M DRA. The diagnosis was based on MRI criteria (low signal intensity on both T1- and T2-weighted MR sequences). MRI analysis included a scoring of the several joint lesions. Scores were quantified according to a severity scale (0 to 3).Results
Patients had a mean age of 66.0?±?10.5?years and mean dialysis duration of 23.7?±?10.5?years. DRA affected mainly large joints (shoulder in 73.7%, hip in 47.3%) and spine (36.8%). MRI images for 8 shoulders, 8 hips, and 3 spines were analysed. Amyloid synovitis was present in all cases, with high mean scores in the three sites. In all joints, the most common lesions were tendon thickening (68.4%) and bone erosions (68.4%). The mean tendon thickening score was high, particularly at the shoulders and also at the spine. Bone erosions were most frequent in the shoulder and pelvis.Conclusion
In patients under long-term dialysis, β2M DRA involves large joints but also the spine. Special awareness should be drawn by the thickening of the tendon. MRI is required to characterize the pattern of the lesions and to achieve the diagnosis. 相似文献84.

The objectives of this study were to identify specific long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and to clarify the function of cisplatin and paclitaxel on the confirmed laryngeal cancer lncRNAs. Fifty-four pairs of laryngeal tumor and adjacent normal tissue were collected. Candidate lncRNAs were searched in authorized databases. The significant lncRNAs were identified and confirmed through high-output real-time PCR. Chemotherapy assay evaluated the influences of cisplatin and paclitaxel on the significant lncRNAs. Thirty-seven cancer-related candidate lncRNAs were selected. Three up-expressed and two down-expressed significant lncRNAs were identified and confirmed. The expressions of lncRNA CDKN2B-AS1, HOTAIR and MALAT1 were dramatically reduced with the increasing concentration of cisplatin and paclitaxel and also lengthening of the treatment duration. Cisplatin and paclitaxel have target function on significant lncRNAs in LSCC, which presents novel molecular targets to cure LSCC patients and also leads an orientation for developing new drugs. 相似文献

Colon interposition is the method of choice to restore the digestive tract after esogastrectomy. The aim of this study was
to compare the length of the four available routes for colon transposition (posterior mediastinum route, transpleural route,
substernal route and subcutaneous route) and to achieve a specific evaluation of the transpleural route. Our study was conducted
with anatomical (dissection) and radiological (2D CT scan reconstructions) protocols. For both, the posterior mediastinum
route was always the shortest way and the subcutaneous route was always the longest. For the anatomical results, the transpleural
route and the substernal route were similar in terms of length and for the radiological study, the transpleural route was
shorter than the substernal route (P < 0.001) and shorter than the subcutaneous route (P < 0.001). We demonstrated that the transpleural route was acceptable for colon transposition in term of length, and could
