大同市103例高龄老人营养情况及心理状况调查

本文对103名高龄老人进行营养情况调查、心理状况调查和体测量,结果表明:高龄老人体质指数大于26者很少,只要老龄人的各种营养素达到供给量标准,心理状态乐观满意,且不吸烟不酗酒者,则可长命百岁。     

Detection of circulating antigen by McAb-AST for evaluating the efficacy of anti-Leishmania chemotherapy.

We have adapted the simple and sensitive McAb-antigen spot test (AST) for evaluating the efficacy of anti-Leishmania chemotherapy. Serum samples from 37 kala-azar patients were tested by McAb-AST, and all showed definite positive reactions before treatment. After a course of antimony treatment, 20 turned negative, coupled with the disappearance of clinical symptoms; another 12 cases responded with weak positivity accompanied by an improvement of clinical manifestations; and the remaining 5 antimony-resistant patients showed strong positive reactions, with their conditions gradually worsening. Furthermore, all 6 cases in which the diagnosis was missed by the bone marrow smear method turned McAb-AST negative after chemotherapy. These results suggest that McAb-AST can be used to evaluate the efficacy of chemotherapy as well as to avoid missed diagnosis by the bone marrow smear method.     

Intracranial Extramedullary Hematopoiesis in β-thalassemia Major

A case of β-thalassemia major with a huge mass of hernatopoictic tissuc firmly attached tothe dura mater was reported This is the first case reported in China.     

Chronic Kidney Isograft and Allograft Rejection

In this study antigen-independent factor in the pathogenesis of chronic rejection of organ transplants was examined.Kidney isografts and allografts were transplanted orthotopically into bilaterally nephroectomized rat recipients and studied functionaaly,morphologically and immunohistologically,at serial intervals up to 52 weeks after transplantation.Allograft recipients developed progressive proteinuria after 12 weeks,with gradual renal failure ultimately leading to death.At the same time,morphological changes,including progressive arteriosclerosis and glomerulosclerosis ,tubular atrophy and interstitial fibrosis,developed.Immunohistologically,macrophages infiltrated glomeruli during this period and cytokines became unregulated.Our results showed that antigen-independent functional and morphological changes occurred in long-tern kidney isografts and mimicked those appearing much earlier in allografts that reject chronically.Initial injury and extent of functioning renal mass is suggested to be important factor for such late changes.     

Point mutation in the parkin gene on patients with Parkinson’s disease

Summary To investigate the distribution of possible novel mutations from parkin gene in variant subset of patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) in China and explore whether parkin gene plays an important role in the pathogenesis of PD, 70 patients were divided into early-onset group and late-onset group; 70 healthy subjects were included as controls. Genomic DNA from 70 normal controls and from those of PD patients were extracted from peripheral blood leukocytes by using standard procedures. Mutations of parkin gene (exon 1–12) in all the subjects were screened by PCR-single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP), and further sequencing was performed in the samples with abnormal SSCP results, in order to confirm the mutation and its location. A new missense mutation Gly284Arg in a patient and 3 abnormal bands in SSCP electrophoresis from samples of another 3 patients were found. All the DNA variants were sourced from the samples of the patients with early-onset PD. It was concluded that Parkin point mutation also partially contributes to the development of early-onset Parkinson’s disease in Chinese. Sexual abuse of children: an area with room for professional reforms

The cases of 46 children who had been abused sexually an average of 2.6 years previously, were reviewed and the non-offending parents were interviewed with emphasis on how they viewed the professional persons who had seen their children, and their opinions of the legal processes that were instituted. The parents found most professional groups helpful, with officers from the Department of Youth and Community Services being seen as the least helpful. Twenty-one of the cases went to court; in 12 cases this resulted in a conviction, and prison sentences were imposed on six of the offenders. Children found the court experience distressing and most parents expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the court hearing. Children were more likely to be required to give evidence in court if the offender had legal representation. Persisting behavioural problems and poor school performance were more likely to occur in those cases in which there had been court hearings. A review of Police Department records of children who had attended the hospital for the management of sexual assault, showed that 10 of the 107 children who are now aged over 14 years, have themselves been convicted of violent crimes since their episode of sexual assault. Long-term intervention is required to help many of these children, some legal reforms are necessary to reduce the stress that they experience when there is a court hearing, and all the professional groups that are likely to become involved with the problem of the sexual abuse of children need to be better informed about its seriousness and consequences.

To investigate clinical effects and manual operational point of Bryan cervical disc prosthesis in Chinese, to observe the stability and range of movement (ROM) post-operatively.     

测定血浆心钠素对小儿心功能不全的诊断意义

采用放射免疫法测定60例心血管病患儿的血浆心钠素,结果,在心功能不全,先天性心脏病、心肌炎者,明显高于正常组;心功能不全组明显高于非心功能不全组。非心功能不全的心血管疾患(如:先天性心脏病、心肌炎)之间无显著差异。说明血浆心钠素测定可作为心功能不全判断指标,并可指导治疗。
