In this work, a minimum variance estimator is designed for a networked system with inherent network imperfections in both sensor to estimator (S-E) and controller to actuator (C-A) channels simultaneously. The channels are affected by packet delays, dropouts, and uncertain observations. These effects are modeled using five Bernoulli distributed random variables. Correlation of noise at neighboring time caused by random delay is avoided by introducing two additional variables in the augmented stochastic model. The developed augmented stochastic model can handle network imperfections in both the S-E and C-A channels simultaneously. A minimum variance recursive linear estimator is designed using an innovation approach and projection theorem. Furthermore, sufficient condition is presented for the existence of steady state property of the proposed estimator. Simulation studies are carried out for the proposed estimator using a numerical example and a single link robot arm. Finally, performance comparison with other popular filters shows the effectiveness of the designed estimator.  相似文献

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) type 1, isolated from diverse sources, exhibits genomic diversity. The mechanisms by which the genomic diversity takes place in individuals exposed to multiple virus isolates is yet to be elucidated. Genetic variation, in general, might result from mutagenic events such as point mutations, rearrangements (insertions and deletions), and recombination. In an attempt to evaluate the process of genetic diversity, we designed experiments to analyze recombination between HIV DNAs by using DNA transfection in cell cultures. Here we report the successful recombination between truncated HIV proviral DNAs with an overlap homology of 53 base pairs that leads to the formation of viable hybrid virus. Recombination was also seen between exogenous DNA introduced into cells and homologous HIV sequences resident in the cells. These results indicate that recombination among various HIV isolates may play a significant role in the generation of genetic diversity of HIV. Further, the method used here enables the construction of hybrid HIV genomes to identify the viral determinants responsible for tropism, replication, and cytopathic effects.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of radioimmunoscintigraphy (RIS) directed against prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) in influencing postradical retropubic prostatectomy (RRP) radiotherapy (RT) decision making. METHODS: The records of consecutive patients who underwent RRP, who were referred for consideration of RT, and for whom an RIS scan was obtained were reviewed. The RT decisions, with regard to (a) the decision to offer RT and (b) the general volume to be treated [prostate fossa (PF) only versus PF + pelvis (P)] before knowledge of the RIS findings were charted. The RIS findings, with regard to uptake in the PF, uptake in the P, or extrapelvic (EP) uptake were tabulated. Then, the RT treatment decisions based on the RIS knowledge were evaluated and compared with the pre-RIS RT treatment decisions. RESULTS: Of the 54 patients originally referred for post-RRP RT, the initial decision was to recommend RT to the PF only in 52 cases and to PF+P in 2 cases. The RIS findings were as follows: PF only, 43 patients; PF+P, 8 patients; PF+EP, 2 patients; PF+P+EP, 1 patient. After knowledge of these RIS results, the decision to offer RT was withdrawn in 4 of 54 patients (7.4%; P = 0.046). Furthermore, RIS changed the general treatment volume (PF only to PF+P) in 6 of 54 patients (11.1%; P = 0.015). In total, RIS altered the RT decision in 10 of 54 patients (18.5%; P = 0.0067). Three-year biochemical failure-free survival (with failure defined as 2 consecutive prostate-specific antigen [PSA] rises above 0.2 ng/mL after PSA nadir) was 78%; no patient, disease, or treatment factor reached statistical significance on univariate or multivariate analysis. CONCLUSION: RIS was found to influence post-RRP RT decision making for the identification of patients not likely to benefit from RT and for guiding general target volume definition.  相似文献

AIMS/BACKGROUND—To determine the epidemiological characteristics and risk factors predisposing to corneal ulceration in Madurai, south India, and to identify the specific pathogenic organisms responsible for infection.
METHODS—All patients with suspected infectious central corneal ulceration presenting to the ocular microbiology and cornea service at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, from 1 January to 31 March 1994 were evaluated. Sociodemographic data and information pertaining to risk factors were recorded, all patients were examined, and corneal cultures and scrapings were performed.
RESULTS—In the 3 month period 434 patients with central corneal ulceration were evaluated. A history of previous corneal injury was present in 284 patients (65.4%). Cornea cultures were positive in 297 patients (68.4%). Of those individuals with positive cultures 140 (47.1%) had pure bacterial infections, 139 (46.8%) had pure fungal infections, 15 (5.1%) had mixed bacteria and fungi, and three (1.0%) grew pure cultures of Acanthamoeba. The most common bacterial pathogen isolated was Streptococcus pneumoniae, representing 44.3% of all positive bacterial cultures, followed by Pseudomonas spp (14.4%). The most common fungal pathogen isolated was Fusarium spp, representing 47.1% of all positive fungal cultures, followed by Aspergillus spp (16.1%).
CONCLUSIONS—Central corneal ulceration is a common problem in south India and most often occurs after a superficial corneal injury with organic material. Bacterial and fungal infections occur in equal numbers with Streptococcus pneumoniae accounting for the majority of bacterial ulcers and Fusarium spp responsible for most of the fungal infections. These findings have important public health implications for the treatment and prevention of corneal ulceration in the developing world.
