Pituicytoma is a rare low-grade tumor (WHO Grade I) of pituicytes involving the sellar–suprasellar region, and originating from the specialized glial cells of the neurohypophysis. Clinically and radiologically, they closely mimic pituitary adenoma or meningioma. Diagnosis requires histopathological examination of the resected tissue. This uncommon glial neoplasm is a rarity, with only 57 cases reported in the literature so far. We report three cases of pituicytoma (aged between 7 and 24 years) presenting with reduced vision, headache and features of hypercortisolism in one case. Radiologically, these lesions mimicked meningioma, hypothalamic chiasmatic glioma and pituitary microadenoma, respectively. The second case is a 7-year-old girl, the youngest case on record. Since this tumor is uncommon, it is frequently misdiagnosed. Awareness of this entity is essential for planning management and treatment. We present a brief review of all cases reported in the medical literature, and describe the clinical symptomatology, associated endocrinological abnormalities, imaging characteristics, behavior and outcome. 相似文献

Objective:
The objective of this study is to examine the effect of a cognitive, behavioral stress management module of Sudarshan Kriya (SK) and P on levels of serum cortisol and pain among the women suffering from advanced stage breast cancer.Materials and Methods:
Participants (n = 147) were screened and randomized to receive standard care (n = 69) versus standard along with SK and Pranayam (P) intervention (n = 78) imparted in one 18 hrs workshop spread during 3 days. Participants were expected to practice it at home 20 min daily as adjuvant to standard pharmacological treatment for pain.Results:
There was a significant difference in blood cortisol levels after 3 months of practice of SK and P. Mean blood levels in the intervention arm were 341.2 ng/ml against 549.2 ng/ml in the control arm (P ≤ 0.002). Pain perception in comparison to control arm reduced by 3 points in SK and P arm on 0-10 verbal scale of pain.Conclusion:

Antibiotic acyldepsipeptide (ADEP) targets the bacterial ClpP serine protease and can inhibit the growth of numerous bacterial species by activating/dysregulating the protease activity within the cell. The spirochete Leptospira interrogans harbors two ClpP isoforms (LepClpP1 and LepClpP2). Supplementation of ADEP in the Leptospira growth medium resulted in the inhibition of bacterial growth. The ADEP mediated activation of the LepClpP mixture was dependent on the time allowed for the self-assembly of LepClpP1 and LepClpP2. The dynamic light scattering of the LepClpP mixture in the presence of the ADEP indicated a conformational transformation of the LepClpP machinery. Serine 98, a catalytic triad residue of the LepClpP1 in the LepClpP1P2 heterocomplex, was critical for the ADEP mediated activation. The computational prototype of the LepClpP1P2 structure suggested that the hydrophobic pockets wherein the ADEPs or the physiological chaperone ClpX predominantly dock are exclusively present in the LepClpP2 heptamer. Using the ADEP as a tool, this investigation provides an insight into the molecular function of the LepClpP1P2 in a coalition with its ATPase chaperone LepClpX. The shreds of the evidence illustrated in this investigation verify that ADEP1 possesses the ability to control the LepClpP system in an unconventional approach than the other organisms. 相似文献

B cells are critical mediators of humoral immune responses in the airways through antibody production, antigen presentation, and cytokine secretion. In addition, a subset of B cells, known as regulatory B cells (Bregs), exhibit immunosuppressive functions via diverse regulatory mechanisms. Bregs modulate immune responses via the secretion of IL‐10, IL‐35, and tumor growth factor‐β (TGF‐β), and by direct cell contact. The balance between effector and regulatory B cell functions is critical in the maintenance of immune homeostasis. The importance of Bregs in airway immune responses is emphasized by the different respiratory disorders associated with abnormalities in Breg numbers and function. In this review, we summarize the role of immunosuppressive Bregs in airway inflammatory diseases and highlight the importance of this subset in the maintenance of respiratory health. We propose that improved understanding of signals in the lung microenvironment that drive Breg differentiation can provide novel therapeutic avenues for improved management of respiratory diseases. 相似文献
