Rare variation of the axillary artery   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The third part of the axillary artery unilaterally divides into two major arterial stems, named according to their localization as deep brachial artery and superficial brachial artery (brachial artery). The deep brachial artery gives off the posterior circumflex humeral artery, anterior circumflex humeral artery, subscapular artery, and profunda brachii artery. It continues its course in the arm lateral to the median nerve and terminates by giving a minute twig to the radial artery. The superficial brachial artery is larger in caliber than the deep brachial artery and gives no branches in the arm region. In the cubital fossa it gives the ulnar and the radial arteries. This case is a variant of the axillary artery that has been rarely (0.12-3.2%) documented in the literature. Accurate knowledge of the normal and variant arterial anatomy of the axillary artery is important for clinical procedures in this region. Clin. Anat. 13: 66-68, 2000.  相似文献

Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM‐MSCs) were first cultured under induction of retinoic acid (RA), Sertoli cells conditioned medium and RA + con (conditioned medium) as treatment groups. The presence of Sertoli cells was confirmed by immunocytochemistry of follicle‐stimulating hormone receptor in Sertoli cells and flow cytometry by anti‐Gata4 antibody. Cell viability and morphology of nucleus and cytoplasm of BM‐MSCs were evaluated by MTT test and DAPI staining respectively. The expression of Oct4, Plzf, Scp3, Caspases 8, 9 and 3 genes was evaluated by RT‐PCR. For increasing the accuracy of experiment, the expression of Vasa and SCP3 genes was investigated quantitatively by real‐time PCR after 0, 5, 10, 15 days of culture. The results showed that the number of apoptotic cells increased in RA group. The expression of apoptosis genes (Caspases 3, 8 and 9) was also observed in this group all days of culture. Measurement of Vasa and Scp3 genes by RT‐PCR confirmed the positive effects of retinoic acid on increasing of genes expression. So, in this study, a group with maximum expression of differentiation genes and minimum expression of apoptotic genes was RA + conditioned medium group. DNA fragmentation was not observed in all groups.  相似文献

The aim of this paper was to study the toxicity of organophosphate (OP) pesticides in exposed farmers for electroencephalography, cognitive state, psychological disorders, clinical symptom, oxidative stress, acetylcholinesterase, and DNA damage. A comparative cross-sectional analysis was carried out in 40 horticulture farmers who were exposed to OPs in comparison to a control group containing 40 healthy subjects with the same age and sex and education level. Lipid peroxidation (LPO), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxidase, DNA damage, total antioxidant capacity (TAC), total thiol molecules, and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity were measured in the blood of subjects. Clinical examination and complete blood test were undertaken in order to record any abnormal sign or symptoms. Cognitive function, psychological symptoms, and psychological distress were examined and recorded. Comparing with controls, the farmers showed higher blood levels of SOD and LPO while their TAC decreased. Farmers showed clinical symptoms such as eczema, breathing muscle weakness, nausea, and saliva secretion. Regarding cognitive function, the orientation, registration, attention and calculation, recall, and language were not significantly different in farmers and controls. Among examinations for psychological distress, only labeled somatization was significantly higher in farmers. The present findings indicate that oxidative stress and inhibition of AChE can be seen in chronically OP-exposed people but incidence of neuropsychological disorders seems a complex multivariate phenomenon that might be seen in long-term high-dose exposure situations. Use of supplementary antioxidants would be useful in the treatment of farmers.  相似文献

Background

The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes of arterial blood gas as a secondary insult in children and young adults suffering from severe traumatic brain injury, and to assess the correlation, if any, with their in-hospital mortality.

Method

In this cross-sectional study, the medical data of all children and adolescents with severe head trauma admitted to the Rasht Poursina Hospital were reviewed between April 2006 and September 2011. Data including age, gender, GCS upon admission, arrival and daily ABG values for the first 3 days, results of brain CT scan, as well as in-hospital mortality rate were collected. A logistic regression model was used to determine the association between acid–base disturbance and in-hospital mortality after adjustment for potential confounding factors.

Result

Of the 108 patients, 75 % were male and 25 % were female; and 31.5 % of them died in the hospital. Univariate analysis showed a significantly higher risk of mortality in patients who developed mixed metabolic acidosis plus respiratory acidosis on their admission day (OR?=?3.94, p?=?0.012). Multiple logistic regression analysis demonstrated that mixed metabolic acidosis plus respiratory acidosis (OR?=?3.81, 95 % CI?=?1.18–12.27, p-value?=?0.025) and GCS (OR?=?0.457, 95 % CI?=?0.31–0.65, p-value?<?0.001) were two significant predictors of mortality, regardless of other confounding variables.

Conclusion

The results of present study show that, in pediatric patients with severe head injuries, initial mixed metabolic acidosis plus respiratory acidosis and GCS are significant predictors of mortality, but other factors after adjustment for potential confounding factors had no prognostic effect.  相似文献

Vascularized periosteal graft is a frequently applied flap model for bone prefabrication studies due to its inhabitance of osteoprogenitor cells and osteoinductive potential. Various bones such as rib and fibula are reported as a potential source for the harvest of the periosteal flap in experimental studies on higher species such as dogs and pigs, which necessitates a rather complicated and expensive experimental setting. Therefore a reliable and inexpensive small animal model on vascularized periosteal flaps is necessary for future research. A new saphenous artery based periosto-fasciocutaneous flap model in rats is described here, which is easily dissected and monitorized. In this experimental study, 15 male Sprague Dawley rats were operated and killed following a 3-month-long follow-up period . The histological analysis revealed heterotopic osteoneogenesis in 12 of 15 flaps (80%), whereas 14 flaps (93.3%) exhibited signs of angioneogenesis originating from the periostofasciocutaneous flap. The presented flap model promises to be an appropriate alternative for new studies where bone prefabrication methods are evaluated.  相似文献

An experimental study was conducted to investigate whether a fascial graft can be used as an interface between a vascular pedicle and target tissue to augment tissue survival in a prefabricated flap. Thirty-six male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three experimental groups according to the type of the recipient bed prepared for the vascular implantation. The left saphenous vascular pedicle was used as the vascular source. A 9 x 9-cm inferiorly based peninsular abdominal flap was elevated in each animal. In group I, the pedicle was tacked beneath the abdominal flap, in which the epigastric fascial layer was untouched. In group II, a 3 x 5-cm graft of epigastric fascia was harvested from the abdominal flaps under loupe magnification. The graft was sutured back into its original position after a 180-deg rotation. The vascular pedicle was then implanted just beneath the center of the fascial graft. In group III, the same size of epigastric fascia was removed in the same manner as group II, exposing the subcutaneous layer for pedicle implantation. Four weeks later, abdominal flaps were raised as island flaps connected only to the saphenous pedicle and were sutured in place. Flap viability was assessed visually on day 7. Overall, the ultimate flap survival in group I was the largest, with some necrotic areas at the periphery of the flaps. In group II, flap survival was typically centralized over the fascial graft, and crescent-shaped necrosis was noted superiorly. In group III, an almost linear pattern of survival overlying the vascular pedicle was observed. The mean surviving flap area of group I (12.13 +/- 1.615 cm2) was statistically greater than that of group II (8.83 +/- 0.663 cm2, p < 0.001) and group III (6.3 +/- 0.815 cm2; p < 0.001). There was a statistically significant difference between the mean flap survival in groups II and III (p < 0.001). Vascular arborization was examined by microangiography, and specimens were processed for histological staining. In group II, vascularization was distributed in a larger area along the fascial graft in comparison with limited vascularization around the pedicle in group III. In this study it was revealed that the interposition of a fascial graft as an interface between the vascular source and the target tissue seems to increase the size of the prefabricated flap.  相似文献
