Combined physiotherapy of chronic infectious prostatitis

Our experience with therapy of 259 outpatients with chronic infectious prostatitis (CIP) aged 16-55 years has demonstrated that combined treatment of CIP with rectal digital massage of the prostate, electrophoresis of chimotripsin solution with dimexide and local magnetotherapy (Intramag unit) significantly raises treatment efficacy, shortens treatment, prevents complications.

Rapid monoclonal antibody generation via dendritic cell targeting in vivo

Dendritic cells (DC) are the professional antigen-presenting cells of the immune system. Previous studies have demonstrated that targeting foreign antigens to DC leads to enhanced antigen (Ag)-specific responses in vivo. However, the utility of this strategy for the generation of MAbs has not been investigated. To address this question we immunized mice with IgG-peptide conjugates prepared with the hamster anti-murine CD11c MAb N418. Synthetic peptides corresponding to two different exposed regions of DC-specific ICAM-3 grabbing nonintegrin (DC-SIGN), a human C-type lectin, were conjugated to N418 using thiol-based chemistry. The N418 MAb served as the targeting molecule and synthetic peptides as the Ag (MAb-Ag). A rapid and peptide specific serum IgG response was produced by Day 7 when the synthetic peptides were linked to the N418 MAb, compared to peptide co-delivered with the N418 without linkage. Spleen cells from N418-peptide immunized mice were fused on Day 10, and three IgG1/k monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) were selected to one of the peptide epitopes (MID-peptide). One of the MAbs, Novik 2, bound to two forms of recombinant DC-SIGN protein in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and was specifically inhibited by the MID-peptide in solution. Two of these MAbs show specific binding to DC-SIGN expressed by cultured human primary DC. We conclude that in vivo DC targeting enhances the immunogenicity of synthetic peptides and is an effective method for the rapid generation of MAbs to predetermined epitopes.     

Quantitative Determination of Poly(Hexamethyleneguanidine) Salts Using the Fluorescence Quenching Technique

A new method of the quantitative analysis of poly(hexamethyleneguanidine) (PHMG) salts has been developed based on the phenomenon of fluorescence quenching. The relationship between the fluorescence intensity and the presence of DNA, ethidium bromide, and PHMG in solution was studied. The proposed method consists in titrimetric analysis of PHMG salts using DNA - ethidium bromide complexes detected by spectrofluorimetry. Richlocaine in Combined Therapy of Periodontitis

The results of combined therapy of chronic moderate generalized periodontitis can be improved by adding richlocaine to protocols of drug therapy: the drug reduces the time of treatment, prolongs remission, decreases the number of relapses, and stabilizes pathological processes in periodontal tissues.     

Morphological analysis of the effect of richlocaine on gingival mucosa during exacerbation of chronic periodontitis

We studied morphology of the regeneratory process in gingival tissues during treatment of exacerbation of chronic generalized periodontitis. Richlocaine treatment led to more pronounced activation of neoangiogenesis in inflammatory cellular infiltrate in comparison with traditional drug treatment. Richlocaine stimulated vascularization of regenerating tissues, promoted more extensive normalization of the structure of the gingival mucosa, and prevented the development of fibrosclerotic changes. __________ Translated from Byulleten’ Eksperimental’noi Biologii i Meditsiny, Vol. 140, No. 12, pp. 701–704, December, 2005     

Anaerobic parasitocenoses of the urinary tracts as a risk factor of acute pyelonephritis

We examined 86 patients with acute gestational pyelonephritis, 72 patients with acute pyelonephritis admitted to hospital, 63 control women with favourable obstetric anamnesis and physiological pregnancy which finished in birth of a healthy child and 57 women with favourable obstetric anamnesis undergoing pregravidal examination. Microbiological factors of acute pyelonephritis risk and acute gestation pyelonephritis were determined. These factors were the presence of anaerobic parasitocenosis in the urinary tracts represented with trichomonades, mycoplasms, ureaplasms, herpes viruses and cytomegaly in various combinations.
