The actions of metaraminol on the secretion of fluid and glycoproteins from rat submandibular glands were investigated using phentolamine, propranolol and reserpine. Metaraminol at doses from 1 to 8 mg/kg (i.p.) increased the salivation and the amounts of protein in submandibular saliva in a dose-dependent manner. The salivation induced by metaraminol at 2 mg/kg was inhibited strongly by pretreatment with propranolol, whereas the salivation induced by metaraminol at 8 mg/kg was inhibited strongly by phentolamine. Reserpine inhibited the secretion of fluid caused by both doses of metaraminol. The electrophoretic profiles of saliva evoked by metaraminol at 2 mg/kg revealed two main bands of glycoprotein, I and IV, which originated from the acinus, and the intensities of these bands were decreased by treatment with propranolol, whereas the major band in saliva induced by 8 mg/kg of metaraminol was glycoprotein III, which originated from the granular tubules. The intensity of band III was decreased by pretreatment with phentolamine. These results suggest that metaraminol, at small doses, stimulates mainly the beta-adrenoceptor in the acinus, whereas at large doses, it prominently stimulates the alpha-adrenoceptors in the granular tubules, although metaraminol at small and large doses is able to stimulate alpha- and beta-adrenoceptors in rat submandibular gland.  相似文献

We present a case of primary ureteral carcinoma in the duplicated renal pelvis and ureter diagnosed by transurethral uretero-renoscopy. The case was of a 78-year-old man with the complaint of sudden asymptomatic macrohematuria. An excretory urogram strongly suggested the presence of duplication of the right collecting system, and cystoscopy revealed a gross hematuria from the right ureteral orifice. A retrograde ureteropyelogram revealed incomplete duplication of the right renal pelvis and ureter fused at about the ureter crossing over the iliac vessels, and a polyp-like filling defect in the lower segment of duplicated ureter at about 4 cm from the fusion of the ureters. Transurethral uretero-renoscopy was employed to investigate the filling defect, and a papillary tumor extended into the lower segment of duplicated ureter was revealed. Tumor was resected by a rigid operating instrument under transurethral uretero-renoscopy. The pathological diagnosis was grade I-transitional cell carcinoma of the ureter, so that right total nephroureterectomy with partial cystectomy was carried out subsequently. Surgical specimen after right total nephroureterectomy with partial cystectomy showed no other tumor in the pelvis or ureter macroscopically, and histopathological studies of surgical specimens were no evidence of malignancy. We believe that transurethral uretero-renoscopy significantly increases the diagnostic accuracy in determining the nature of upper urinary tract lesions, and this procedure is indispensable in the diagnosis of ureteral tumors. The present case was the 7th case of primary ureteral carcinoma in the duplicated renal pelvis and ureter in the Japanese literature.  相似文献

A case of a bilateral pulmonary hernia of the lungs into the supraclavicular fossae is described. A man, aged 79, with severe chronic asthma and chronic bronchitis due to air pollution, complained of a cervical mass off and on for several years. The herniation was greater on the right side. It could be identified on physical examination by the presence of a soft painless supraclavicular bulge which was exaggerated by strain or cough. Radiologically this herniation could best be identified on lateral cervical roentgenogram. It is said that cervical lung hernia is a rare condition, but in our experience supraclavicular herniation of the lung is not unusual in cases of severe chronic obstructive lung disease.  相似文献

An eight-month-old boy with clinical features of acute encephalopathy with symmetrical low-density areas in the thalami and the putamen on computed tomography is presented. These particular computed tomography features suggest potential aetiology common to acute encephalopathy with low-density areas in the thalami and infantile bilateral striatal necrosis with an acute onset. The contribution of sarcoplasmic reticulum was studied with regard to the increase in arterial contraction induced by a high-potassium depolarization in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). The 20 mmol/l potassium-induced contraction of femoral arteries was faster and greater in 6-week-old SHR than in age-matched normotensive Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats. Relaxation after washing the arteries with a Krebs solution was slower in SHR than in WKY rats. When the sarcoplasmic reticulum of SHR arteries had been depleted of calcium by caffeine in a calcium-free solution, the rate of high-potassium-induced contraction of the calcium-depleted SHR arteries was slowed, the same result as that with non-calcium-depleted WKY arteries. In ryanodine-treated arteries, the rate and magnitude of high-potassium-induced contraction were enhanced slightly in SHR and greatly in WKY rats, resulting in no final difference between SHR and WKY rats. Ryanodine slowed the relaxation rate in WKY rats but not in SHR. These results suggest that the diminution in ability of sarcoplasmic reticulum to sequester calcium may be responsible for the faster rate and greater magnitude of high-potassium-induced contraction with the slower relaxation in SHR arteries. We postulated that genetic malfunction of sarcoplasmic reticulum causes the increased contraction of arterial smooth muscle leading to the enhanced vasoconstriction and elevated blood pressure in SHR.  相似文献

In order to investigate the influence of respiratory frequency in the measurement of specific airway conductance (sGaw) during non-panting breathing, we examined specific airway conductance using a body plethysmograph (BX-82, Minato) in 20 stable pulmonary emphysema patients and 19 normal control subjects. Our body plethysmograph device can measure sGaw automatically without panting by making various corrections using a 16-bit microcomputer. We measured sGaw first at a flow of 0.5 L/sec during both inspiratory and expiratory ventilatory phases, then the respiratory frequency was changed from 0.5 to 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 Hz. In normal control subjects sGaw, tidal volume and mouth flow significantly changed by increasing respiratory frequency, and there was a significant correlation between sGaw and mouth flow. In pulmonary emphysema patients, tidal volume decreased significantly by increasing respiratory frequency, and there was a significant correlation between sGaw and tidal volume, but sGaw and mouth flow did not change significantly by increasing respiratory frequency. These results suggest that specific airway conductance is influenced by respiratory frequency, possibly due to the change in tidal volume and mouth flow. It is necessary to standardize respiratory frequencies and mouth flows in the measurement of specific airway conductance during non-panting breathing.  相似文献

The aims of the present study were to observe the daily habituation to night sleep in a laboratory environment and to make clear the daily and individual sleep variations by using polygraph parameters, including electroencephalography (EEG). Sleep EEG records were obtained from a subject who slept ten successive nights, and from six subjects who each slept one night in the laboratory. The parameters used were as follows: sleep stage %, sleep latency (SL), REM latency (RL), number of stage shifts, subjective sleep, integral EMG, and slope (a) and intersect (b) of a regression equation used to estimate the sleep depth against sleep time. Stage WAKE and SL, slope (a), intersect (b) and the mean depth of sleep were found to become stable from the fifth night. Stage MT, the number of stage shifts, and integral EMG increased significantly from the fifth night and later, showing p less than 0.01, p less than 0.01, and p less than 0.05, respectively. Judging from these findings, the sleep habituation of the subject in the laboratory was completed within the first four nights. Coefficients of variation of sleep stage 2 and stage REM of the ten-nights' EEG were the lowest among all the sleep parameters examined. Almost all the parameters of day-to-day sleep of the subject who slept for ten successive nights in the laboratory showed smaller variations than those of the other six subjects. It may be concluded that the mist effect on sleep could be assessed more precisely by using an individual repeatedly than by using a group of subjects.  相似文献
