Fifteen carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates and 12 carbapenemase-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates were recovered from patients hospitalized between August 2011 and March 2013 at the Hospital of Infectious Disease, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. One KPC-, nine NDM-1-, four OXA-48-, and one VIM-4-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates along with 11 VIM-2-producing and one IMP-13-producing P. aeruginosa isolates were recovered from clinical samples. All carbapenemase genes were located on self-conjugative plasmids and were associated with other resistance determinants, including extended-spectrum β-lactamases and RmtC methylases. 相似文献

Aims
Our study addressed the influence of early inflammatory stages of diabetic kidney disease: leukocyte adhesion and monocyte activation (as assessed by intercellular leukocyte adhesion molecule-ICAM-1 and monocyte chemoatractant protein-MCP-1) on the degree of albuminuria. Plasma levels of adiponectin, a possible anti-inflammatory counteracting mechanism, were also studied in correlation to the above-mentioned cytokines.Methods
79 consecutive type 2 diabetic outpatients and 46 controls were included. Routine laboratory analysis, urinary albumin to creatinine ratio (uACR), plasma adiponectin, plasma ICAM-1 and urinary MPC-1 were assessed.Results
In multiple regression ICAM-1 (p = 0.004) and adiponectin (p = 0.04) were the main determinants of uACR. Plasma adiponectin positively correlated to ICAM-1 (p = 0.03, r = 0.24).In albuminuric patients (uACR ≥30 mg/g) plasma adiponectin was significantly higher compared to normoalbuminuric ones (uACR <30 mg/g). In albuminuric patients the main determinants of uACR were plasma ICAM-1 and adiponectin. In multiple regression ICAM-1 is the only one that retains statistical significance (p = 0.02). Urinary MCP-1 did not correlate to uACR.Conclusions
In our type 2 diabetic patients, plasma levels of ICAM-1 and adiponectin are predictive for albuminuria. Urinary MCP-1 does not correlated to uACR. Plasma adiponectin positively correlates to adhesion molecule ICAM-1 in our cohort. 相似文献13.

Intracardiac metastases of thyroid carcinoma are a rare event. Their incidence is low in large autopsy series, and antemortem diagnosis is even less common. We present the case of a woman with advanced poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma who had extensive intracardiac metastases. EIS and XPS investigations on the interaction of hemin with p- and n-doped GaAs(100) electrodes in PBS solution revealed significant differences concerning both the adsorbed species and the mechanism of the redox process caused by dopant nature. XPS data show that hemin is adsorbed on p-GaAs(100) by its carboxyl groups and adopts a vertical position favorable to a polymeric film formation whereas on n-GaAs(100), the adsorbed hemin is monomeric and has a rather planar configuration involving mainly the OH groups of the organic molecule. Hemin gives rise to a reversible redox process at the p-GaAs(100) electrode whereas at n-GaAs(100), there is only one reduction wave of a considerably lower current density appearing at a more negative potential. The effects of the applied potential on the phase angle measured at p-GaAs(100) point out major changes not only in the insulating properties of the adsorbed layer, as found at n-GaAs(100), but also in the electronic properties of the semiconductor triggered by the hemin redox process. Analysis of the experimental data points to a mechanism of charge transfer through surface states, the observed differences being related to the location of the surface states with respect to the formal potential of the hemin redox couple.Paper brings evidence that surface states are responsible for different redox processes of hemin, reversible at p-GaAs(100) and ireversible at n-GaAs(100). 相似文献

The recent discoveries of cold-sensitive transient receptor potential (TRP) channels prompted us to investigate the responses of neurons in trigeminal subnucleus caudalis (Vc) to intraoral cooling and agonists of TRPM8 and TRPA1. Single units responsive to lingual cooling were recorded in superficial laminae of Vc in thiopental-anesthetized rats. All units responded to noxious heat and 88% responded to menthol. Responses increased with menthol concentration from 0.1 to 1% (6.4-64 mM) and plateaued at 10% (640 mM). Noxious cold-evoked responses were significantly enhanced after menthol in a concentration-dependent manner. Constant-flow application of 1% menthol elicited a phasic discharge that adapted over 2-8 min and significantly enhanced subsequent cold-evoked but not heat-evoked responses; vehicle (10% ethanol) was ineffective. Reapplication of menthol 15 min later elicited a significantly reduced response (self-desensitization). Vc units were similarly excited phasically by 1% menthol dissolved in 40% ethanol. The 40% ethanol briefly excited Vc units during the first minute and reduced subsequent responses to noxious heat and cold while exhibiting neither self-desensitization nor cross-desensitization to menthol. Menthol cross-desensitized Vc responses to 40% ethanol. Most menthol-responsive units also responded to the TRPA1 agonists cinnamaldehyde and mustard oil, and the TRPV1 agonist capsaicin. Units in superficial Vc receive convergent input from primary afferents that express TRPM8, TRPA1, and/or TRPV1 channels, either directly or indirectly via intersubnuclear pathways. Hereditary multiple intestinal atresia (HMIA) is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction in humans associated with a profound combined immune deficiency. Deleterious mutations of the tetratricopeptide repeat domain–7A (TTC7A) gene lead to HMIA, although the mechanism(s) causing the disease in TTC7A deficiency has (have) not yet been clearly identified.To evaluate the consequences of TTC7A deficiency, we studied the morphology of several organs from HMIA patients at different developmental stages, as well as the expression of the TTC7A protein. We performed histological and immunohistochemical analyses on biopsies and autopsies of 6 patients and 1 fetus with HMIA. Moreover, we characterized for the first time the expression of the TTC7A protein by immunostaining it in several organs from control (including fetal samples), infants, and 1 fetus with HMIA.Besides the gastrointestinal tract, HMIA disease was associated with morphological alterations in multiple organs: thymus, lung, spleen, and liver. Moreover, we demonstrated that normal TTC7A protein was expressed in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells of the intestine, thymus, and pancreas. Surprisingly, altered TTC7A protein was highly expressed in tissues from patients, mainly in the epithelial cells.We have established that HMIA associated with a TTC7A defect is characterized by multiorgan impairments. Overall, this report suggests that TTC7A protein is critical for the proper development, preservation, and/or function of thymic and gastrointestinal epithelium. 相似文献
