The current technique for cranioplasty using artificial bone requires further improvement with regard to infection, strength and comfort through good fitting. We have carried out cranioplasty using the patient's autogenous bone flap obtained during first surgery. It was immersed in 200 mg of Amikacin Sulphate, and frozen at -16 degrees C until its use in cranioplasty. From 1980 to 1998, cranioplasty has been carried out on 206 patients. They consisted of 118 males and 88 females, and their age ranged in our institute from 1 to 81; average age 51.1. Ruptured aneurysm (48%), head injury (14%), intracranial hemorrhage (23%) and cerebral infarction (12%) were the major causes requiring decompression surgery. We analyse the bone preservation period and the time between cranioplasty and the onset of infection. The infection rates per bone preservation periods, the causes of decompression and age groups are studied. Of the 208 case studies, infection necessitating bone removal or debridement was noted in 8 cases (3.88%). Average bone preservation period in the infected group was 31.1 days as compared with 54.9 days for the non-infected group (p < 0.05). Not patient age but the type of head injury is also a significant factor in post cranioplasty infection.  相似文献

The present study investigated the involvement of the serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) neuronal system in the Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol-induced impairment of spatial memory in the eight-arm radial maze in rats. Delta(9)-Tetrahydrocannabinol (6 mg/kg, i.p.), which impairs spatial memory, significantly increased the 5-HT content in the ventral hippocampus. A microdialysis study showed that Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (6 mg/kg, i.p.) decreased 5-HT release in the ventral hippocampus. The 5-HT precursor, 5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan (5-HTP; 50 mg/kg, i.p.), the 5-HT re-uptake inhibitor, clomipramine (0.01 and 0.1 mg/kg, i.p.), the 5-HT receptor agonist, 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeODMT; 0.01 and 0.03 mg/kg, i.p.), and the 5-HT(2) receptor agonist, 1-(2,5-dimethoxy 4-iodophenyl)-2-amino propane (DOI; 10 microg/kg, i.p.), significantly attenuated the Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol-induced impairment of spatial memory. These results suggest that the 5-HT neuronal system may be involved in the Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol-induced impairment of spatial memory.  相似文献

Activating the noradrenergic and cholinergic systems is known to enhance attentional processes, while stimulating dopaminergic, serotonergic, and GABAergic systems suppresses them. The objective of the present study was to investigate the pharmacological characterization in the attentional processes of a two-lever choice reaction time (CRT) task using different centrally acting drugs. We designed seven parameters in this task: the correct response (CR) rate; error response rate; nonresponse (NR) rate; differential reinforcement of other behavior (DRO) responses; number of incorrect lever pressings during both the intertrial interval and DRO periods; the mean CRT of CR; and activity during 30 trials. The compounds produced different profiles at each dose. 1) Facilitative and disruptive effects on attentional processes occurred with changes in CRT alone. Scopolamine (0.1 mg/kg) and prazosin (0.3-1 mg/kg) prolonged the CRT, whereas methamphetamine (0.3 mg/kg) shortened the CRT. 2) Attentional deficits occurred with abnormal behavior showing premature response or perseverative behavior. Scopolamine (0.2-1 mg/kg), methamphetamine (3 mg/kg), delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (10 mg/kg), and MK-801 (0.1-0.3 mg/kg) produced a marked increase in the number of total lever pressings. 3) Motor function deficits rather than attentional deficits occurred. 8-OH DPAT (1 mg/kg) and muscimol (1 mg/kg) produced a decrease in CR and an increase in NR with a marked decrease in activity and prolonged the CRT. Activating noradrenergic alpha(1) receptors was found to enhance the attentional processes, while blocking muscarinic receptors, alpha(1) receptors, and NMDA receptors, and stimulating cannabinoid receptors and the dopaminergic systems impaired the attentional processes in the two-lever CRT task.  相似文献

Syringaresinol isolated from Epimedium koreanum NAKA1 and Magnolia officinalis REHD. et WILS. was subjected to optical resolution by chiral HPLC to give (+)- and (-)-enantiomers. The authors investigated the frequency and correlates of déjà vu experiences in 386 healthy adult volunteers recruited from several areas in Japan. Déjà vu experiences and related experiences were evaluated using the Inventory of Déjà vu Experiences Assessment. Déjà vu experiences were observed by 294 (76.2%) of the 386 participants. Persons who experienced déjà vu were younger and more educated than persons who had not experienced it. There were no differences in the frequency of déjà vu experiences based on sex, hand preference, or area of residence. Subsequent factor analysis associated déjà vu with precognitive dreams and remembering dreams as dream- and memory-related factors rather than with the dissociation-related factors of depersonalization, derealization, jamais vu, and daydreams or with mental activity-related factors such as paranormal quality and travel frequency. Results suggest that déjà vu experiences are associated with good memory function.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Therapeutic angiogenesis was induced by local autologous bone marrow cell implantation (BMCI) in ischemic hindlimb or ischemic heart models in rats. This study was designed to investigate the toxicity and therapeutic potency of local BMCI using a chronic coronary occlusion model in dogs. METHODS: The canine chronic coronary occlusion model was created by ligating of the left anterior descending artery (LAD). The myocardium in the left ventricle was divided into distinct normal, marginal, and infarction areas 30 days after LAD ligation. Each area was injected at two locations, with either 2 x 10(7) bone marrow cells (n = 7, BMCI group) or 0.1 mL phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) only (n = 7, PBS group), respectively. Hemodynamics were evaluated by a single ultrasonic transducer and echocardiography before and 30 days after the treatment. Angiogenesis was evaluated by vessel count 30 days after the treatment. The toxicity of BMCI treatment was also evaluated in 8 normal dogs by following changes in electrocardiography (ECG), echocardiography, local histology, and systemic biochemistry indexes. RESULTS: There was a significantly higher percentage of wall thickening in the marginal area in the BMCI group than in the PBS group 30 days after treatment (14.5 +/- 2.28 versus 8.1 +/- 3.00, p = 0.002). Significantly more microvessels were observed in the marginal area in the BMCI group than in the PBS group 30 days after treatment (127.7 +/- 20.1 versus 88.0 +/- 10.2/field, p = 0.0007). No systemic or local toxicity was found following BMCI treatment in the acute or chronic phases. CONCLUSIONS: BMCI treatment improved local wall thickening dynamics, presumably due to the angiogenesis induced by the treatment. This indicates that it might be a safe and effective therapy for ischemic heart disease.  相似文献

We examined for 18 weeks the effect of dexamethasone treatment on learning and memory impairment produced by hypoxic-ischemic stress at postnatal day 7 in rat in addition to brain histological study. Dexamethasone of 0.5 mg/kg was injected i.p. 4 h before hypoxic-ischemic stress, in which the left carotid artery was ligated followed by 2 h hypoxia (8% oxygen). Dexamethasone treatment improved behavior in each learning task: in choice reaction time tasks relating to the attention process, in 8-arm radial maze task examining working and reference memory, and in water maze task relating to reference memory. Improvement to the extent of the sham-control level was observed. Dexamethasone treatment also completely prevented histological brain damage. No adverse effect in learning and memory tests was observed in the animals treated with dexamethasone without hypoxic-ischemic stress. It is concluded that dexamethasone treatment is significantly effective in prevention not only of histological brain damage but also of learning and memory impairment occasioned by subsequent hypoxic-ischemic insult, warranting further clinical investigation.  相似文献
