Nature is integrated, being simultaneously controlled by different natural aspects. Genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics and geology are four diverse and broad scientific disciplines. But we believe that these can offer important insights into species distribution and evolution, if integrated. This perspective is grounded on a case study of the family Salvadoraceae, where species distribution and phylogeny show high correlation with the geological records. The results obtained from published and ongoing research indicate that we are pointing toward better visualizing the overlapping boundaries of these specific disciplines, which will be able to more accurately answer key evolutionary questions. We highlight: (1) the combined application of bedrock-soil geological data and bioinformatics to resolve evolutionary questions regarding species eco-distribution, niche prediction and bio-evolution; and (2) signifies the importance of relaxing boundaries between the disciplines to come to a better conclusion on species diversity and distribution-driven controls. Overall, we express and briefly explain our hypothesis to integrate modern analytical tools, viz., statistical correlation of geological data via. geo-statistics (Geo), and spatiotemporal biostatistics via. geo-informatics (Geo), with gene-based paleontological shreds of evidence, and sequence-based bioinformatics, to devise a practical analysis tool, namely “Geo2 gene-bioinformatics”. We invoke the development of algorithms through computational-based programs that can provide useful correlations to understand evolutionary systematics and phylogeny, species distribution, and niche prediction.

Inspired by the nano-segregation of ionic liquids (ILs) into bi-continuous structures constituting of arrays of ionic and non-ionic components, herein, a new and sustainable strategy for preparation of mesh-like nano-sheet α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles and their photo-catalytic activity under sunlight, is presented. For the purpose, metal (iron) containing ionic liquids (MILs), 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroferrates, [Cnmim][FeCl4], (n = 4, 8 and 16), which not only act as precursors and solvents but also as structure directing agents have been used. Thus prepared NPs show MIL dependent structural, photophysical and magnetic properties. The catalytic efficiency of NPs has been tested for the photo-degradation of organic dyes (Rhodamine B) in aqueous solution under sunlight. The NPs are found to exhibit comparable catalytic efficiency under sunlight as compared to that observed under high intensity visible lamplight, without showing a decline in their catalytic efficiency even after 4 catalytic cycles. It is anticipated that the present work will provide a new platform for preparation of sunlight active nanomaterials for photo-catalytic applications with control over the structural and physical properties via varying the molecular structure of MILs.

Background: Q-switched lasers are conventionally used for the treatment of black tattoo. However, they require multiple sittings, and the response may be slow due to competing epidermal pigment in dark skin. Objective: To compare the efficacy of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser alone with its combination with ultrapulse CO2 for the removal of black tattoo. Materials and methods: Sixty patients with black tattoo were randomized into two groups viz., group A and group B. Group A was treated with QS Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) alone, and group B received combination of ablative ultrapulse CO2 followed by fixed-dose QS Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm), at 6-week interval for a maximum of 6 sittings. After each sitting, 3 independent physicians noted percentage of improvement that was evaluated using visual analogue scale (VAS) and grading system for tattoo ink lightening (TIL). Results: Combination laser (group B) showed statistically significant improvement in mean VAS score in the last 2 noted visits as compared to 1st session (p < 0.007, p < 0.001) and TIL mean score in last three noted visits as compared to 1st session (p < 0.008, p < 0.020, and p < 0.004). There was no statistically significant difference in the side effect profile of both the groups. Conclusion: For refractory professional tattoos, combination of ultrapulse CO2 laser and QS Nd:YAG laser is superior to QS Nd:YAG laser alone.  相似文献

Background and AimsThe pregnancy weight is usually retained in the form of abdominal fat during the postpartum period. The willingness to lose weight is influenced by knowledge, attitude, beliefs and practices. This study aims to comprehend the awareness, beliefs and perspectives of postpartum women regarding their perceived factors, barriers and facilitators associated with post-pregnancy weight status.MethodsOverweight and obese postpartum women aged between 20 and 40 years and had delivered an infant in the last 2 years were recruited via convenience and purposive sampling techniques. The final sample comprised 27 participants with a mean age of 29.96 ± 4.50 years. Four focus group discussions and eight in-depth interviews carried out were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Codes, sub-themes and themes were generated using Atlas.ti 9 software.ResultsMajor themes identified were perceived factors causing postpartum weight retention/weight gain including social and cultural beliefs related to diet and exercise specifically associated with this period, perceived motivators and deterrents of weight loss including eagerness to lose weight and perceived facilitators and barriers to weight loss including intrinsic and extrinsic factors such as time, energy, evidence-based knowledge about diet and physical activity, family support and obligation to family’s advice.ConclusionThe unique challenges and barriers associated with postpartum weight loss efforts should be taken into consideration by healthcare professionals and public health policy-makers to design strategies specific to postpartum women.Supplementary InformationThe online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s13224-022-01644-9.  相似文献

There is much discussion in the dental literature regarding the superiority of one impression technique over the other using addition silicone impression material. However, there is inadequate information available on the accuracy of different impression techniques using polyether. The purpose of this study was to assess the linear dimensional accuracy of four impression techniques using polyether on a laboratory model that simulates clinical practice. The impression material used was Impregum Soft?, 3 M ESPE and the four impression techniques used were (1) Monophase impression technique using medium body impression material. (2) One step double mix impression technique using heavy body and light body impression materials simultaneously. (3) Two step double mix impression technique using a cellophane spacer (heavy body material used as a preliminary impression to create a wash space with a cellophane spacer, followed by the use of light body material). (4) Matrix impression using a matrix of polyether occlusal registration material. The matrix is loaded with heavy body material followed by a pick-up impression in medium body material. For each technique, thirty impressions were made of a stainless steel master model that contained three complete crown abutment preparations, which were used as the positive control. Accuracy was assessed by measuring eight dimensions (mesiodistal, faciolingual and inter-abutment) on stone dies poured from impressions of the master model. A two-tailed t test was carried out to test the significance in difference of the distances between the master model and the stone models. One way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for multiple group comparison followed by the Bonferroni’s test for pair wise comparison. The accuracy was tested at α = 0.05. In general, polyether impression material produced stone dies that were smaller except for the dies produced from the one step double mix impression technique. The ANOVA revealed a highly significant difference for each dimension measured (except for the inter-abutment distance between the first and the second die) between any two groups of stone models obtained from the four impression techniques. Pair wise comparison for each measurement did not reveal any significant difference (except for the faciolingual distance of the third die) between the casts produced using the two step double mix impression technique and the matrix impression system. The two step double mix impression technique produced stone dies that showed the least dimensional variation. During fabrication of a cast restoration, laboratory procedures should not only compensate for the cement thickness, but also for the increase or decrease in die dimensions.  相似文献
