Background
The growth of children is an indicator of health and society's wellbeing. Growth references are useful in monitoring a child's growth, which is a very important part of child care. Poland's growth references are not updated regularly. Although several growth reference ranges have been developed in Poland over recent years, sampling was restricted to urban populations of major cities. Using magnetoencephalography, we investigated the potential of perilesional and contralesional activity to support language recovery in patients with poststroke aphasia. In healthy young controls, left‐lateralized ventral frontotemporal regions responded to semantic anomalies during sentence comprehension and bilateral dorsal frontoparietal regions responded to syntactic anomalies. Older adults showed more extensive bilateral responses to the syntactic anomalies and less lateralized responses to the semantic anomalies, with decreased activation in the left occipital and parietal regions for both semantic and syntactic anomalies. In aphasic participants, we observed compensatory recruitment in the right hemisphere (RH), which varied depending on the type of linguistic information that was processed. For semantic anomalies, aphasic patients activated some preserved left hemisphere regions adjacent to the lesion, as well as homologous parietal and temporal RH areas. Patients also recruited right inferior and dorsolateral frontal cortex that was not activated in the healthy participants. Responses for syntactic anomalies did not reach significance in patients. Correlation analyses indicated that recruitment of homologous temporoparietal RH areas is associated with better semantic performance, whereas higher accuracy on the syntactic task was related to bilateral superior temporoparietal and right frontal activity. The results suggest that better recovery of semantic processing is associated with a shift to ventral brain regions in the RH. In contrast, preservation of syntactic processing is mediated by dorsal areas, bilaterally, although recovery of syntactic processing tends to be poorer than semantic. Solubilities of six structurally related phenothiazines, namely chlorpromazine hydrochloride, fluphenazine dihydrochloride, promazine hydrochloride, thioridazine hydrochloride, trifluoperazine dihydrochloride, and triflupromazine hydrochloride at constant pH were measured in the temperature range from 290 K to 350 K in three important drugs solvents: water, ethanol and 1-octanol using the dynamic method and UV-vis method. Dissociation constants and corresponding pK(a) values of drugs were obtained with Bates-Schwarzenbach method at temperature 298.15K in the buffer solutions. Our experimental pK(a) values for chlorpromazine hydrochloride, fluphenazine dihydrochloride, promazine hydrochloride, thioridazine hydrochloride, trifluoperazine dihydrochloride, and triflupromazine hydrochloride are 9.15, 10.01, 9.37, 8.89, 8.97, and 9.03, respectively. The basic thermal properties of pure drugs i.e. melting and solid-solid phase transition as well as glass-transition temperatures, the enthalpy of melting and phase transitions and the molar heat capacity at glass transition (at constant pressure) were measured with differential scanning microcalorimetry (DSC) technique. Molar volumes were calculated with Barton group contribution method. The experimental solubility data were correlated by means of three commonly known G(E) equations: the Wilson, NRTL and UNIQUAC with the assumption that the systems studied here have revealed simple eutectic mixtures. The root-mean-square deviations of temperature were used for the precision of the correlation. The activity coefficients of drugs at saturated solutions in each correlated binary mixture were calculated from the experimental data. When polypropylene meshes are used in reconstructive urogynecological surgery, the erosion rates vary from 3.3% to 14% and
causative factors for such erosions are still unknown in many cases. Therefore, the aim of our study was to establish the
role of immunologic factors in the process of polypropylene tapes erosions after suburethral sling procedures. Serum concentrations
of tumor necrosis factor α, interleukin (IL)-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-10, and interferon (IFN)-γ were estimated in 123 patients suffering
from stress urinary incontinence preoperatively and during 12 months follow-up using Human Th1/Th2 Cytokine Cytometric Bead
Array I kit. The same immunological assessment was performed in each case of detected tape erosion. Statistical calculation
was performed using UNIVARIATE, CORR, and NPAR1WAY procedures from Statistical Analysis System. The unpaired Student’s t test, nonparametric Mann–Whitney U test, and Wilcoxon tests were used. Preoperative IFN-γ concentration was significantly higher in women with subsequent polypropylene
mesh erosion when compared to women with successful outcome (p < 0.05). Th1 cytokine profile may be related to the risk of the vaginal erosions following placement of polypropylene meshes.
The way to lower erosion rate may involve exclusion of the patients immunologically prone to synthetic material erosion. The

Background Experiments on cancer cell lines and animal models indicated that alteration in expression of N-myc down-regulated gene 1 (NDRG1) is associated with development of colon cancer. However, few clinical data are available to assess the role of NDRG1 in progression of human colorectal cancer. This study was undertaken to reveal the prognostic and predictive usefulness of
NDRG1 expression determination in colorectal cancer.
Methods The expression of NDRG1 mRNA was investigated in 108 colorectal cancer tissues by real-time polymerase chain reaction. The level of NDRG1 protein
was investigated by immunohistochemistry.
Results Patients with lowered level of NDRG1 mRNA had a statistically significantly shorter 5-year survival rate compared with patients with unchanged expression of NDRG1 (P = .01). The overall survival time for patients with II tumor, node, metastasis system (TNM) stage disease and tumors displaying
reduced expression of NDRG1 was significantly shorter compared with patients with preserved NDRG1 expression (P = .024). Moreover, the survival rate of patients with TNM stage II disease and T4 lesion was significantly lower (P = .0005) for patients with reduced level of NDRG1 expression compared with patients with unchanged NDRG1 expression. The stepwise multivariate regression analysis revealed that advanced TNM stage and lowered NDRG1 expression level were independent unfavorable prognostic factors for patient survival.
Conclusions The assessment of NDRG1 expression offers valuable prognostic information for patients with colorectal cancer, especially for those with stage II
disease. We propose that NDRG1 expression level could be used to select patients with stage II disease who are at increased risk of unfavorable outcome,
and who may benefit from adjuvant therapy. 相似文献

Many neurobiochemical studies show abnormalities within dopaminergic neuropathways, particularly altered dopamine transmission in etiopathogenesis of mental disorders. Evaluation of genes associated with the dopaminergic system include five well known subtypes of dopaminergic receptors, dopamine transporter and enzymes associated with the synthesis and degradation of dopamine, such as tyrosine hydroxylase, dopa decarboxylase, monoamine oxidase (MAO) and catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT). None of these genes is 'a' pathognomonic factor of schizophrenia onset. In each sequence of the following genes 'a' functional polymorphism can occur. The polymorphisms of genes MAO-A and COMT have been described in relation to various expression or altered activity of these enzymes, their influence on cognitive functions, affective and anxiety disorders, learning disabilities, aggressive behaviour, eating disorders or gender differences. 相似文献

Impaired inhibitory processing has been implicated in clinical expressions of impulsivity, but it is unknown whether the same deficit underlies the personality trait in healthy, non-clinical populations. The present study examined performance and event-related potentials (ERPs) during a stop-signal task in non-clinical adults who scored in the top ("Low" n=20) and bottom 15% ("High" n=20) on Eysenck's Impulsiveness Questionnaire from a sample of 200 subjects. The stop-signal task consisted of a visual choice-RT task and auditory stop-signals presented on 30% of trials. While performance findings revealed no differences between groups, underlying ERPs revealed a number of quantitative differences. Lateralised readiness potential (LRP) amplitude on stop-signal trials was larger in the High than Low group, indicating greater response side-specific motor preparation in the primary motor cortex (PMC), while an N1/P3 complex was evoked on successful stop-signal trials and was also enhanced in the High than Low group. The centrally-maximal successful-stop P3 has previously been implicated as an index of inhibition in the PMC, suggesting enhanced inhibitory processing in the High group. Together these findings indicate that the High impulsivity group was able to counteract an impulsive response style on stop-signal trials with enhanced inhibitory activation, resulting in comparable overt performance to the Low group. These results provide a unique insight into the neural mechanisms underlying trait impulsivity in non-clinical adults. 相似文献

Summary The vast majority of preclinical studies of HDAC inhibitors (HDAC-I) focus on the drug–target (cancer) cell interaction, whereas
little attention is paid to the effects on non-target healthy cells, which could provide decisive information to eliminate
potential cytotoxic compounds at a very early stage during drug development. In the current study we used cultures of primary
rat hepatocytes as a read out system to select for the most potent HDAC-I in the group of structural analogues of an archetypal
HDAC-I, namely Trichostatin A. This kind of approach allowed selecting compounds with high biological activity and with no
apparent toxicity towards cultured hepatocytes.

Facial laser Doppler flux (FLDF) consists of a mean value and complex oscillatory components called vasomotion. Vasomotion can be expressed as spectral amplitudes (SA) after the application of continuous wavelet transform. Vasomotion is influenced by cardiac activity (frequency interval I), respiration (interval II), intrinsic myogenic activity (interval III), neural mechanisms (interval IV) and endothelial mechanisms (intervals V and VI). Asymmetry of FLDF mean value was previously documented and hereby we present homogeneity assessment for FLDF vasomotion. Mean FLDF (p<0.001), total SA (p<0.001) and SA within frequency intervals I-VI were significantly higher in both cheeks compared to forehead. Total SA (p=0.009) and SA within frequency intervals I (p=0.041), II (p=0.005), III (p=0.009), IV (p=0.001) and V (p=0.036) were significantly higher in right than in left forehead. Human face is a heterogeneous microvascular region. Angiographic characteristics of deep horizontal sub-dermal plexus, endothelial and vascular smooth muscle cell heterogeneity, and plasticity of the microvasculature, autonomic asymmetry and facial neuropsychological asymmetry are possible causes of microvascular asymmetry. The origin and significance of microvascular imbalance need to be elucidated further. 相似文献
