Gene-dietary patterns may contribute to determining body composition and related biochemical indices. The aim of this study was to evaluate interactions between rs1333048 polymorphism and major dietary patterns on body fat percentage, general and central obesity, and related biochemical measurements. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 265 healthy Tehrani adults with mean age of 35 years (47.5% men, 52.5% women). Dietary patterns (DPs) were extracted by factor analysis. Bioelectrical impedance analysis was used for body analysis and rs1333048 was genotyped by the restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. Three DPs were extracted: restricted refined grains DP, legumes DP and healthy DP. AA genotype compared to CC genotype had greater odds for general obesity before (OR 3.14; 95% CI 1.008–9.60, P = 0.045) and after (OR 3.11; 95% CI 1.008–9.60, P = 0.048) adjusting for potential confounders. Individuals with AA genotype were more likely to be centrally obese before (OR 2.09; 95% CI 1.006–4.35, P = 0.048) and after (OR 2.63; 95% CI 1.12–6.17, P = 0.026) controlling for potential confounders. Significant interactions were observed between Legumes DP and rs1333048 SNP on waist circumference (P = 0.047), body fat % (BFP) (P = 0.048), hs-Crp (P = 0.042), BMI (P = 0.073), WHtR (P = 0.063) and odds for general obesity (P = 0.051). Following this DP reduced all these items for individuals with CC genotype, whereas increased them for people who carry CA or AA genotypes. The findings indicate that there are significant associations between AA genotype of rs1333048 SNP and general and central obesity, and significant interaction between alleles of this SNP and major dietary patterns on the odds of general obesity, BFP, waist circumference, BMI, WHtR and hs-Crp. 相似文献
Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of tightening of lateral portion of orbicularis oculi muscle in patients with functional nasolacrimal duct obstruction (FNLDO).Methods: This is an interventional cross-section study for evaluation of effect of orbicularis oculi tightening procedure in patients with FNLDO. Patients with unexplained epiphora, open lacrimal system in syringing and evidences of lacrimal pump weakness in lacrimal scintigraphy underwent surgery. In this procedure, a stripe of preseptal and pretarsal orbicularis muscle was dissected, slightly resected and secured to the periosteum of lateral orbital rim. Each subject completed a questionnaire about the intensity of epiphora before surgery and 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery. Furthermore, fluorescein dye disappearance test (FDDT) was performed before surgery and repeated in the follow-up visits. At last visit, the pre- and post-operative data were analyzed and compared. Results: Fifteen eyes of 12 patients (5 males and 7 females) with the mean age of 56.7 years included in the study. Severity of epiphora and tearing effect on daily life were significantly improved following the operation. FDDT result was improved significantly after 1 month follow-up in all eyes (15 eyes), at 3 months follow-up in 80% of eyes (12 eyes) and at the end of the 6th month in 66.7% of eyes (10 eyes). Subjective and objective success rates were 87% and 80%, respectively. No significant complications or side-effects were observed. Conclusion: Tightening of lateral portion of preseptal and pretarsal orbicularis muscle seems an effective, safe, and easy procedure to decrease epiphora in patients with FNLDO. 相似文献
Depression and anxiety disorders are associated with increased release of peripheral cytokines; however, their functional relevance remains unknown. Using a social stress model in mice, we find preexisting individual differences in the sensitivity of the peripheral immune system that predict and promote vulnerability to social stress. Cytokine profiles were obtained 20 min after the first social stress exposure. Of the cytokines regulated by stress, IL-6 was most highly up-regulated only in mice that ultimately developed a susceptible behavioral phenotype following a subsequent chronic stress, and levels remained elevated for at least 1 mo. We confirmed a similar elevation of serum IL-6 in two separate cohorts of patients with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder. Before any physical contact in mice, we observed individual differences in IL-6 levels from ex vivo stimulated leukocytes that predict susceptibility versus resilience to a subsequent stressor. To shift the sensitivity of the peripheral immune system to a pro- or antidepressant state, bone marrow (BM) chimeras were generated by transplanting hematopoietic progenitor cells from stress-susceptible mice releasing high IL-6 or from IL-6 knockout (IL-6−/−) mice. Stress-susceptible BM chimeras exhibited increased social avoidance behavior after exposure to either subthreshold repeated social defeat stress (RSDS) or a purely emotional stressor termed witness defeat. IL-6−/− BM chimeric and IL-6−/− mice, as well as those treated with a systemic IL-6 monoclonal antibody, were resilient to social stress. These data establish that preexisting differences in stress-responsive IL-6 release from BM-derived leukocytes functionally contribute to social stress-induced behavioral abnormalities.Human studies indicate that psychosocial stressors increase peripheral cytokine production, a potentially important factor in the development of depression or anxiety (1–6). Subsets of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and posttraumatic stress disorder have higher levels of multiple inflammatory markers, including the cytokine interleukin 6 (IL-6) (3, 4, 6–8), which meta-analyses indicate is consistently elevated across studies (2, 9–11). Although systemic injection of proinflammatory cytokines induces “sickness behavior” reminiscent of depressive symptoms (12), a causal relationship between peripherally derived cytokines and stress-related disorders awaits confirmation. To directly address whether systemic inflammation functionally contributes to stress vulnerability, we used two social stress paradigms: repeated social defeat stress (RSDS) (13, 14) and a purely emotional stressor (witness defeat) (15). As in humans (16, 17), chronic social subordinations in mice lead to depression-like behavior, including social avoidance, in a subset of mice termed susceptible, whereas resilient mice resist the development of such behavior (18–20). We hypothesize that preexisting differences in the sensitivity of an individual’s peripheral immune system dictate their subsequent vulnerability or resilience to social stress. 相似文献
Hepatitis D virus (HDV) is a defective RNA virus that depends on the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) of hepatitis B virus for its replication, developing exclusively in patients with acute or chronic hepatitis B. There are little data regarding the routes of HDV transmission in Iran. The risk factors for HDV infection in Iran are blood transfusion, surgery, family history, Hejamat wet cupping (traditional phlebotomy), tattooing, war injury, dental interventions, and endoscopy.
Objectives
We performed this study to determine the prevalence of hepatitis D in the general population of Qom province and the potential risk factors for acquiring HDV.
Patients and Methods
This cross-sectional study collected 3690 samples from 7 rural clusters and 116 urban clusters. HBs antigen was measured, and if the test was positive, anti-HDV was measured. Ten teams, each consisting of 2 trained members, were assigned to conduct the sampling and administer the questionnaires. The data were analyzed using SPSS.
Results
Forty-eight subjects (1.3%) suffered from hepatitis B, and 1 HBsAg-positive case had HDV infection. The prevalence of hepatitis D infection in Qom Province was 0.03%. The prevalence of hepatitis D infection in HBsAg-positive cases was 2%. Our anti-HDV-positive case had a history of tattooing, surgery, and dental surgery. There was no significant relationship between tattooing, surgery history, or dental surgery and hepatitis D infection.
Conclusions
The prevalence of hepatitis D in Qom is the the lowest in Iran, similar to a study in Babol (north of Iran). 相似文献
Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) among adolescents is a major health concern globally. The epidemiology and determinant of NSSI have not been studied extensively in Iran. Thus, this longitudinal study sought to investigate the prevalence, incidence and contributing factors of NSSI among adolescents in Iran. This study was conducted at high school students aged 14–18 years old in the metropolitan city of Tabriz, located in north western Iran. Data were collected from 6229 10th-grade students at two time-points, with 12 months interval in October and November 2017 and 2018. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect information on demographic, NSSI and cigarette and hookah smoking from the study participants. The results showed that lifetime prevalence of NSSI among students was 6.2% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 5.7 to 6.9) at the first assessment. Scratching and hair pulling were the most and least common methods of self-injury, respectively. Over the one year, 206 students (3.6% CI 95%: 3.1–4.1) reported the onset of NSSI. Tobacco smoking and previous year average grade were related to the incidence of NSSI. Although gender was significantly associated with the prevalence of NSSI, the relationship between gender and incidence of NSSI was not significant. Although the prevalence of NSSI was low among adolescents, the incidence rate was considerable. Further studies are required to understand the risk factors of NSSI in Iran.
