This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of probiotics consumption on gestational diabetes (GD) and its complications in pregnant mother and newborn. The study was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42021243409) and all the enrolled articles were collected from four databases (Medline, Scopus, Embase, and Google Scholar) as randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from 2010 to 2020. A total of 4865 study participants from 28 selected studies were included in this review. The present meta‐analysis showed that the consumption of probiotics supplementation has the potential to decrease GD‐predisposing metabolic parameters such as blood glucose level, lipid profile, inflammation, and oxidative markers which may reduce GD occurrence among pregnant women. 相似文献

Objectives:To study the effects of low dose of empagliflozin on improving outcomes in diabetic patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Methods:This double-blind controlled clinical trial was carried out on 93 diabetic patients (56 males and 37 females, mean age of 56.55 years) with ACS who underwent PCI at 2 university teaching hospitals in 2020, Ahvaz, Iran. The patients were randomly assigned to receive empagliflozin (10 mg once daily) or placebo at similar doses for 6 months after PCI. In addition, to standard treatments with another hypoglycemic agent. Cardiovascular outcomes (including all-cause mortality, coronary revascularization, rehospitalization due to unstable angina, hospitalization due to heart failure, cardiovascular death, non-fetal myocardial infarction, and non-fetal stroke) were evaluated during period of 6 months follow-up after the empagliflozin treatment.Results:There was no significant difference between the low dose empagliflozin and placebo groups after treatment in terms of cardiovascular mortality (2.2% versus [vs.] 4.2%; p=0.598), rehospitalization due to unstable angina (4.5% vs. 8.7%; p=0.433), and coronary revascularization (2.2% vs. 0%; p=0.312).Conclusion:The results of this study showed that adding low dose empagliflozin to standard care of ACS diabetic patients after PCI was associated with no significant reduction in negative cardiovascular outcomes during 6 months. 相似文献

The Xpert MTB/RIF assay (Xpert) is a molecular assay used for direct detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) in clinical specimens. In this study, we aimed to assess the accuracy of the Xpert assay for the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) in TB suspected patients from the northern region of Iran. The obtained results were compared with the culture method. The sputum specimens were examined using the Xpert assay, smear microscopy, and solid culture media as a reference diagnostic tool. Among 293 presumptive TB cases, 92 (31.4%) were positive according to the culture method. The Xpert method detected 88 (95.7%) cases that were positive according to the culture method, compared with 78 (84.8%) positive cases according to smear microscopy. The overall sensitivity and specificity of the Xpert method for TB diagnosis were 95.7% and 99%, respectively. Also, the sensitivity and specificity for smear microscopy were 84.8% and 97.5%, respectively. The Xpert assay showed high overall sensitivity and specificity; thus, it can be effectively used for the early and accurate diagnosis of MTB in TB endemic areas. In addition, the agreement between semi‐quantitative results of Xpert and smear microscopy assays could be helpful in evaluating transmission potential in TB patients. 相似文献

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this work was to investigate the immunohistochemical expression of nestin, a member of the intermediate filament family, in adenohypophysial vasculature during development and progression of pituitary infarction. METHODS: Forty-five nontumorous adenohypophyses and 34 pituitary adenomas of various types, all exhibiting acute or healing infarcts, were examined immunohistochemically using the streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase complex method. RESULTS: In both adenohypophyses and pituitary adenomas without infarction, nestin was expressed in only a few capillaries and endothelial cells. In acute infarcts without a vascular response, no nestin was demonstrable within necrotic capillaries (50 cases). In organizing infarcts, newly formed vessels spreading into necrotic zones showed nestin expression in all capillaries and practically every endothelial cell (25 cases). In the hypocellular, fibrotic scar phase, only a few vessels (4) were apparent, and immunoreactivity was focal and mild. CONCLUSIONS: Nestin is strongly expressed in newly formed capillaries and is downregulated when infarcts transform to fibrous tissue. Nestin expression may provide valuable insight into the process of pituitary angiogenesis. 相似文献

Parasitic infection is highly prevalent throughout the developing countries of the
world. Food handlers are a potential source of infection for many intestinal
parasites and other enteropathogenic infections as well. The aim of this study was to
determine the prevalence of intestinal parasite carriers among food handlers
attending the public health center laboratory in Sari, Northern Iran for annual
check-up. The study was performed from August 2011 through February 2012. Stool
samples were collected from 1041 male and female food handlers of different jobs aged
between 18 to 63 years and were examined following standard procedures.
Sociodemographic, environmental and behavioral data analysis of the food handlers
were recorded in a separate questionnaire. Intestinal parasites were found in 161
(15.5%) of the studied samples. Seven species of protozoan or helminth infections
were detected. Most of the participants were infected with Giardia lamblia (53.9%)
followed by Blastocystis hominis (18%), Entamoeba
coli (15.5%), Entamoeba histolytica/dispar (5.5%),
Cryptosporidium sp. (3.1%), Iodamoeba butschlii
(3.1%) and Hymenolepis nana (1.9%) as the only helminth infection.
The findings emphasized that food handlers with different pathogenic organisms may
predispose consumers to significant health risks. Routine screening and treatment of
food handlers is a proper tool in preventing food-borne infections. 相似文献
