Meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, and other benign extraaxial tumors have little contrast with adjacent brain tissue on conventional magnetic resonance (MR) images. The contrast enhancement produced by intravenous administration of 0.1 mmol/kg of gadolinium-DTPA in these tumors was measured on T1 MR images. Acoustic neuromas showed the greatest enhancement (average, 310%), meningiomas the next greatest (average, 180%), and neurofibromas, glomus tumors, and pituitary microadenomas the least enhancement. The degree of enhancement was almost always greater at 3 minutes than at 25 or 55 minutes. Contrast between the tumor and adjacent tissue resulted from tumor enhancement in neuromas, meningiomas, and neurofibromas and from enhancement of the surrounding tissue in pituitary microadenomas. 相似文献

Objective.?To estimate the association of vaginal pH on the induction to vaginal delivery interval in labor induction with vaginal misoprostol.Methods.?Women presenting at term with intact membranes for labor induction were recruited. The pH of the vagina was measured during a digital examination of the cervix to determine the Bishop Score. Labor was induced with 25?μg of vaginal misoprostol placed every 6?h until spontaneous rupture of membranes or active labor occurred. The primary outcome was the induction to vaginal delivery interval in the lower pH (?<?5) versus higher pH (???5) group. Secondary outcomes assessed maternal and neonatal morbidities. Sample size calculated a priori estimated 120 subjects were required for a power of 95% and a 2-tailed α of 0.05.Results.?120 women met inclusion criteria and had available pH data. There was no difference in the induction to vaginal delivery interval in the lower pH (1455?min) versus higher pH group (1295 minutes, Mean difference 160[?147,468] P?=. 30). No difference was observed for operative delivery rates or neonatal outcomes.Conclusion.?The pH of the vagina may not affect the length of the induction to vaginal delivery interval in women undergoing labor induction with vaginal misoprostol. Experimental autoimmune myositis (EAM) is a rodent model for human inflammatory muscle disease (IMD). It can be induced by immunization of rodents with skeletal muscle homogenate and adjuvant. The specific myositogenic autoantigen has not been clearly identified although some evidence points to skeletal muscle myosin. In this report we strengthen this evidence, showing that Lewis rats immunized with purified skeletal muscle myosin develop EAM with the same pattern and severity as EAM induced by whole rabbit skeletal muscle homogenate (WRM). Multiple inflammatory lesions are detected histopathologically in the biceps, quadriceps, and gastrocnemius muscles. Myosin-reactive T cells from animals immunized either with myosin or with WRM have similar patterns of antigen-induced proliferation. The results show that myosin, a component of skeletal muscle, is at least one autoantigen in EAM. 相似文献
