Background:SARS-CoV-2 is the virus responsible for coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) disease, which has been shown to trigger multiple affectations. One of the first tissue areas to come into contact with the virus is the oral cavity, which develops various alterations. Hence, the objective of this systematic review was to identify the main signs and symptoms of this disease in the oral cavity, and the following research question was established: What are the main oral signs and symptoms in COVID-19-positive persons? Methods:The electronic databases of PUBMED, SCOPUS, and SCIENCE DIRECT were analyzed, the keywords “ORAL DISEASES,” “ORAL MANIFESTACTIONS,” and “COVID-19” were used taking into account the following inclusion criteria: studies whose main objective was oral manifestations secondary to the confirmation of COVID-19, plus clinical cases, case series, and retrospective or prospective studies. For the assessment of the risk of bias the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Case Series tool was used. Results:A total of 18 studies were included, the most common initial signs/symptoms after contagion of SARS-CoV-2 were dysgeusia, dry mouth, and burning mouth, and the main signs/symptoms were the presence of ulcerative lesions, dysgeusia, and Candida albicans infections. Conclusions:It is very important to detect any alteration in the mucosa in patients with COVID-19 and to provide assertive treatment to avoid complications, and try to maintain adequate oral hygiene throughout the course of the disease to avoid the colonization of opportunistic microorganisms and to avoid complications both orally and systemically.  相似文献

Intervention studies in youth with obesity that can be translated into primary care are limited. We compared a lifestyle intervention to a brief intervention applied by primary care physicians (control group) for treating pediatric obesity in the primary care setting. Seventy-six youth with obesity (body mass index [BMI] >95th percentile or >90th percentile plus waist circumference >90th percentile, aged 9 to 17 years) participated in a 12-month, randomized, controlled trial, conducted at a primary care unit in Northern México from June 2006 through October 2007. Participants randomized to lifestyle intervention attended a family-centered program consisting of 12 sessions of behavioral curriculum, dietary advice from a registered dietitian (weekly for the first 3 months and monthly thereafter), and monthly consultations with a primary care physician. Control group participants attended monthly consultations with a primary care physician who received a brief training on obesity. Forty-three (57%) participants completed the 12 months of study. After 12 months, mean changes (95% confidence interval) in body weight for the lifestyle group and the control group were −0.8 kg (−3.2, 1.5) vs +5.6 kg (3, 8.2; P<0.001) and mean changes in BMI were −1.8 (−2.6, −0.9) vs +0.4 (−0.5, 1.3; P<0.001), respectively. Intention-to-treat analysis at 12 months confirmed significant differences in primary outcomes (weight −3.5 kg, P=0.02; BMI −1.2, P=0.03) in favor of the lifestyle group. This study provides preliminary evidence that primary care physicians supported by a registered dietitian and a behavioral curriculum can be a successful strategy for treating pediatric obesity in the primary care setting.  相似文献

This report evaluates several methods to map relative cerebral blood flow (rCBF) by applying both parametric and non-parametric techniques to deconvolve high resolution dynamic MRI measurements of paramagnetic bolus passages with noninvasively determined arterial inputs. We found a nonparametric (singular value decomposition (SVD)) deconvolution technique produced the most robust results, giving mean gray:white flow ratio of 2.7 ± 0.5 (SEM) in six normal volunteers, in excellent agreement with recent PET literature values for age-matched subjects. Similar results were obtained by using a model-dependent approach that assumes an exponential residue function, but not for a Gaussian-shaped residue function or for either Fourier or regularization-based model-independent approaches. Pilot studies of our CBF mapping techniques in patients with tumor, stroke, and migraine aura demonstrated that these techniques can be readily used on data routinely acquired by using current echo planar imaging technology. By using these techniques, the authors visualized important regional hemodynamic changes not detectable with rCBV mapping algorithms.  相似文献

Diabetes mellitus (DM) has a high incidence of comorbidities among patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The elevated prevalence of DM in the world population makes it a significant risk factor because diabetic individuals appear to be prone to clinical complications and have increased mortality rates. Here, we review the possible underlying mechanisms involved in DM that led to worse outcomes in COVID-19. The impacts of hyperglycemia side effects, secondary comorbidities, weakened innate and adaptive immunity, chronic inflammation, and poor nutritional status, commonly present in DM, are discussed. The role of the SARS-CoV-2 receptor and its polymorphic variations on higher binding affinity to facilitate viral uptake in people with DM were also considered. Clinical differences between individuals with type 1 DM and type 2 DM affected by COVID-19 and the potential diabetogenic effect of SARS-CoV-2 infection were addressed.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To evaluate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in assessing lung inflammation longitudinally in genetic mouse models of cystic fibrosis (CF). MRI is used to view soft tissues noninvasively, but the lung is challenging to image. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cftr(+/+) (wildtype) and Cftr(-/-) (CF) mice were inoculated with agarose beads laden with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Longitudinal MR lung images were acquired with cardiac gating. The effects of echo time and respiration gating were evaluated to improve the detection of lung inflammation. RESULTS: Cardiac gating and signal averaging sufficiently suppressed motion artifacts without requiring respiration gating. MRI detected moderate to severe inflammation in infected mice, which was confirmed by histology results. CONCLUSION: In vivo longitudinal MRI methods can assess lung inflammation in P. aeruginosa-infected mice, which obviates serial sacrifice. MRI was able to detect inflammation in the absence of other physiological symptoms.  相似文献

Background

Central nervous system is a common site of metastasis in NSCLC and confers worse prognosis and quality of life. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the prognostic significance of clinical-pathological factors (CPF), serum CEA levels, and EGFR and HER2 tissue-expression in brain metastasis (BM) and overall survival (OS) in patients with advanced NSCLC.  相似文献

The recent "Advanced Neuroimaging for Acute Stroke Treatment" meeting on September 7 and 8, 2007 in Washington DC, brought together stroke neurologists, neuroradiologists, emergency physicians, neuroimaging research scientists, members of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), industry representatives, and members of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to discuss the role of advanced neuroimaging in acute stroke treatment. The goals of the meeting were to assess state-of-the-art practice in terms of acute stroke imaging research and to propose specific recommendations regarding: (1) the standardization of perfusion and penumbral imaging techniques, (2) the validation of the accuracy and clinical utility of imaging markers of the ischemic penumbra, (3) the validation of imaging biomarkers relevant to clinical outcomes, and (4) the creation of a central repository to achieve these goals. The present article summarizes these recommendations and examines practical steps to achieve them.  相似文献
