Arginine-8-vasopressin potentiates acute ethanol intoxication.

AVP maintains ethanol (EtOH) tolerance after cessation of chronic EtOH treatment. However, the acute interaction of AVP and EtOH has not been well characterized. Rats were trained on a moving belt and the EtOH dose-response relationship (range 1.0-2.0 g/kg) was determined after pretreatment with saline, AVP (2.5-40 micrograms SC or 10 ng ICV), the AVP-V1 receptor antagonist [Des-Gly9,d(CH2)5(1),O-Et-Tyr2, Val4,Arg8]-vasopressin (10 ng ICV), or AVP in combination with the V1 antagonist. AVP produced a 16% decrease in the EtOH ED50 when given either SC or ICV; this decrease, which appears to represent true potentiation rather than additivity, was prevented by the preadministration of the V1 antagonist. Other rats were made EtOH-tolerant by 7 daily injections of either EtOH alone (1.8 g/kg IP) or EtOH (1.5 g/kg IP) + AVP (10 micrograms SC), followed by a practice session on the moving belt. In both sets of tolerant animals, AVP potentiation of acute EtOH effects was still seen on day 6. The mechanism of AVP potentiation of EtOH-induced impairment is unknown, but the failure of the V1 antagonist alone to alter the effect of EtOH suggests that endogenous AVP is not involved directly in modulating EtOH intoxication.

Inhibition on Telomerase Activity and Cytotoxic Effects by Cisplatin in Cultured Human Choroidal Melanoma Cells

Purpose: To study the changes of telomerase activity and cytotoxic effects by Cisplatin; cis-dichlorodiamine platinum (CDDP) in cultured human choroidal melanoma. Material and Methods: The primary cultured human choroidal melanoma cells were cultured in the presence and absence of CDDP with different concentration and time respectively. The toxic effects were evaluated by MTT and the level of telormarse was detected by PCR-ELISA assay. And the relationship between telomerase activity and cytotoxic effects were analyzed by a correlation analysis.Results: Following the increase of the concentration and the time of CDDP, gradually repressed telomerase activity was detected in cultured cells. Meanwhile, the restrain rate of the cells increased. The telomerase activity at 24h and 1μg/ml was repressed significantly compared with the control cells. However, the appearance of cell death lagged behind the decreasing of telomerase.Conclusions: CDDP is an effective telomerase inhibitor in cultured choroidal melan     

几种中草药复配杀虫剂的急性毒性实验研究

为有效开发植物杀虫剂资源及今后的推广应用提供科学依据。用两种粉剂和两种醇剂的杀虫应用浓度给小白鼠灌,而家兔则行皮肤刺激试验。结果显示,除醒剂Y-13经口有中毒情况发生外,其它3种制剂均无中毒现象,醇剂Y-13的家兔皮肤也无刺激反应发生。作者认为:4种制剂在有杀虫效果的前提下,杀虫应用浓度对人和动物都较安全。有开发和推广应用价值。     

Myelopathy presenting decades after surgery for congenital cervical cutaneous lesions

We report on two patients in whom cervical myelopathy developed decades after they had undergone surgery for congenital cervical cutaneous lesions. Preoperative magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated dorsal tethering and cavitation of the cervical cord in the area of the previous surgery and was helpful in decision making regarding surgical exploration and in planning for it. We stress the importance of long-term follow-up by both clinical examination and magnetic resonance imaging in children who have been operated on for cervical cutaneous masses that may have central connections.     

寒冷干燥地区平时火器伤的早期处理

目的　探讨寒冷干燥地区平时火器伤伤情特点与早期救治方法。方法　对 1991年 1月— 2 0 0 2年 12月间 40例火器伤病人的临床救治进行回顾分析。结果　 2 4例枪伤中 ,2 0例一期缝合伤口 ,均一期愈合 ,另外 4例只清创未一期缝合的伤口 ,3例愈合 ,1例感染 ;4例骨折内固定均愈合良好 ,无骨髓炎发生。 16例炸伤病人局部软组织损伤及污染比枪弹伤重 ,14例一期缝合伤口中 ,10例一期愈合 ,4例感染 ,骨折内固定 2例 ,均愈合良好 ,无骨髓炎发生。结论　寒冷干燥地区火器伤早期伤道清创时限可适当延长 ,在平时火器伤的救治中 ,对软组织条件较好的创面 ,早期清创后可一期闭合伤口和骨折内固定 ,这样可减少感染和伤残 ,促进康复     

Brevibacterium sp.DGCDC-82发酵罐中生产胆固醇氧化酶

用Brevibacterium sp.DGCDC-82在7L发酵罐中分批培养.分别对添加剂吐温-80、培养温度、培养基的pH、通风量和搅拌速度在胆固醇氧化酶的生产中的影响进行了研究.结果显示以上条件均对产酶有影响.在不同的发酵阶段改变发酵操作条件,发酵20 h最高酶活可达1203U/L,生产强度可达60 U/(L·h).既有效地提高了胆固醇氧化酶的产量,又防止了发酵过程中的泡沫外溢.     

综合医院精神科会诊患者失眠的临床研究

目的：探讨综合医院精神科会诊患者失眠的临床特征及与其它精神障碍的关系。方法：对168例精神科会诊患者进行分析。结果：128例(76、2％)会诊患者有失眠．其中61．7％(79／128)为慢性失眠。原发性失眠仅占5．5％(7／128)，85．1％(109／128)是与其它精神障碍有关的失眠。常见的精神障碍诊断为焦虑障碍、心境障碍和谵妄。60．9％的失眠患者在会诊前得到了处理。结论：应对临床医师进行精神卫生教育，提高他们对失眠等常见精神障碍的识别和处理能力。     

Anatomic and spiral computed tomographic study of the genial tubercles for genioglossus advancement.

OBJECTIVE: To measure and compare Chinese mandibular genial tubercles measured anatomically and with computed tomography (CT). STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING: Spiral CT scans were taken of 40 adult human skulls; the superior genial spines were measured using anatomic and CT methods. RESULTS: The height and width of the superior genial spines, mandible thickness, and distance from the menton to the inferior and superior margins of the superior genial spines were 5.82 +/- 0.71, 6.98 +/- 1.35, 11.95 +/- 1.59, 11.08 +/- 2.05, and 16.91 +/- 2.30 mm from anatomic measurements and 6.17 +/- 0.71, 7.01 +/- 1.13, 12.19 +/- 1.64, 10.41 +/- 1.55, and 15.73 +/- 2.12 mm using spiral CT, respectively. The anatomic and CT measurements were correlated. CONCLUSION: Spiral CT of the genial tubercles can help locate the osteotomy in genioglossus advancement. SIGNIFICANCE: This study acquired reference data on Chinese genial tubercles demonstrating that CT measurements of the genial tubercles reflect their anatomy, which should allow accurately locate the osteotomy.     

Endoscope damaged during endoscopic carpal tunnel release--the solution method.

An unusual problem occurred during the endoscopic carpal tunnel release procedure of a patient with carpal tunnel syndrome. The endoscope was damaged because of inadequate knowledge in handling the instruments. The procedure was completed smoothly with a knee arthroscope.
