ABSTRACT The present study investigated the concomitants of menopause-specific quality of life among premenopausal and postmenopausal women. Based on the Wilson and Cleary model of quality of life, this cross-sectional study recruited 329 women of age 40–65 years following operational convenience. The study was conducted in the office of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association (KPHWA) in Incheon, South Korea. Data collected on sociodemographic characteristics, social support, biological/physiological characteristics, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI-K), and self-rated health. Menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire (MENQOL) was used in this study. Hierarchical multiple linear regression analysis was performed. The study found that social support and self-rated health were negatively correlated with MENQOL in premenopausal women, while the income level and self-rated health were negatively associated with MENQOL in postmenopausal women. Sleep quality was positively correlated with MENQOL in both premenopausal and postmenopausal women. The study results indicate the need for tailored approaches based on menopausal status. Especially, social support may help improve the MENQOL of premenopausal women, while in postmenopausal women, improved sleep quality may enhance their menopause-specific quality of life. 相似文献

Objectives:To analyze the association between cranial asymmetry severity and chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) laterality.Methods:We retrospectively assessed 120 patients with surgically treated unilateral CSDH from January 2009 to December 2018. Preoperative computed tomography images were used to determine occipital vault angles, bilateral cranium areas, and cranial index of symmetry (CIS) ratios.Results:The male sex (70%) was the predominant factor promoting CSDH pathogenesis. In the overall study population (mean age, 71.3 years; left-sided CSDH, 58/120 [48%] patients; right-sided CSDH due to right-sided flat cranium, 38 patients; left-sided CSDH due to right-sided flat cranium, 37 patients). Flat cranial asymmetry was nonsignificantly associated with CSDH laterality (p- value=.689). However, most CSDH patients (86.7% of 120 patients) presented dominant-sided nonoverlapping areas on the left side. Thirteen (81.3%) patients presenting right-dominant nonoverlapping areas had right-sided CSDH, and 55 (52.9%) patients had left-dominant nonoverlapping area had left-sided CSDH (p- value=0.01). The CIS ratio was significantly higher in patients with right-dominant nonoverlapping areas than in those with left-dominant nonoverlapping areas (97.2% vs 95.9%, p- value<0.0001).Conclusion:Left-sided hematoma predominance is not associated with a flat cranium and laterality of unilateral CSDH. Moreover, more asymmetric crania with lower CIS ratios may predict left-sided CSDHs, whereas the right-sided CSDHs may be more common in symmetric crania with higher CIS ratios. The CSDH laterality is potentially attributable to cranial asymmetry severity.Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), a common neurosurgical entity, is considered a delayed manifestation of head trauma, occurring mostly in older men.1 Although CSDHs can occur in unilateral or bilateral intracranial spaces, left-sided predominance has been previously reported.2,3 Few studies have reported that cranial morphology and gravity contribute to the laterality of CSDH.4–6 Cranial asymmetry is more common among crania flattened toward the right side, influencing the left-sided predominance of CSDH.6 The cranial index of symmetry (CIS) with a semiautomated method has been introduced to objectively determine the severity of cranial deformations including plagiocephaly.7 A preliminary study reported that the objective nonradiographic method potentially serves as an unbiased measurement of cranial asymmetry.7 The flat side has been simply defined by a smaller angle through a simple method considering angles among 3 lines.4–6 However, the angles may be manually affected by the points of the intersection of the manually selected lines, thus obstructing cranial asymmetry assessment. An accurate dosage determination is required in neonates when antibiotics are used. The adult data cannot be simply extrapolated to the pediatric population due to significant individual differences. We aimed to identify factors impacting ceftazidime exposure in neonates and to provide drug dosing guidance to clinicians. Forty-three neonates aged less than 60 days with proven or suspected infections were enrolled in this study. After intravenous administration, blood samples were collected, and plasma ceftazidime concentration was determined using a HPLC method. Pharmacokinetic data were fitted using a nonlinear mixed-effects model approach. One-compartmental model could nicely characterize the ceftazidime in vivo behavior. The covariate test found that the postmenstrual age (day) was strongly associated with systemic drug clearance (L/h), and the effect of body weight (kg) was identified as the covariate on distribution volume (L). Compared with the base model, the addition of covariates improved the goodness-of-fit of the final model. Model validation (bootstrap, visual predictive check, and prediction-corrected visual predictive check) suggested a robust and reliable pharmacokinetic model was developed. A new homoisoflavanone, (3R)-5-hydroxy-7-methoxyl-3-(2′-hydroxy-4′- methoxybenzyl)-chroman-4-one (1), together with six known analogs, were isolated from the rhizomes of Polygonatum sibiricum. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. All compounds were tested for their estrogenic activity using the MCF-7 estrogenresponsive human breast cancer cell lines. At a dose of 0.1 μmol/L, compounds 1–7 exhibited significant proliferative effects on MCF-7 cells compared with E2. The increase in multidrug resistance among colon cancer cells presents a challenge for the development of effective therapies. Small-molecule analogues of second mitochondria-derived activator of caspase (SMAC) mimetic in association with mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL)-pDNA and z-VAD-fmk have shown ideal antitumor effects in colon cancer cells in vitro via induction of RIP3-dependent necroptosis. To achieve synergistic antitumor effects in vivo, liposomes loaded with SMAC mimetic, MLKL-pDNA and z-VAD-fmk have been developed using novel lipid fusion methods to co-localise the molecules of interest within the tumour cells. The co-encapsulation liposome (MLKL-zVAD-BV6-LP) had a high entrapment efficiency of approximately 95% for both zVAD and BV6 and was able to condense MLKL-pDNA very well. The vectors showed good biocompatibility, tumour targeting and small-molecule co-localisation. In a CT26 mouse model, the MLKL-zVAD-BV6-LP exhibited a tumour-suppression rate of over 60% in vivo, which was significantly higher than that of both the null-liposome and coadministration groups.
